Hey all.. great Haiku lessons here.. I happen to work in this area alot.. they are harder to write than regular poetry.. but they have become my favorite form.. I love the short breathy visual mind enhancing tale they leave for the reader lol.. that was not short was it!!!!! They are great for teaching you to notice the small things in life.. moments.. tiny seconds.. in order to write about them. I have many more.. I thank you so much for your kind praise...

'TWAS THE NIGHT OF THANKSGIVING,
BUT I JUST COULDN'T SLEEP

I TRIED COUNTING BACKWARDS,
I TRIED COUNTING SHEEP.



THE LEFTOVERS BECKONED -
THE DARK MEAT AND WHITE

BUT I FOUGHT THE TEMPTATION
WITH ALL OF MY MIGHT



TOSSING AND TURNING WITH ANTICIPATION

THE THOUGHT OF A SNACK BECAME INFATUATION.



SO, I RACED TO THE KITCHEN,
FLUNG OPEN THE DOOR

AND GAZED AT THE FRIDGE,
FULL OF GOODIES GALORE.



I GOBBLED UP TURKEY AND BUTTERED POTATOES,

PICKLES AND CARROTS, BEANS AND TOMATOES.



I FELT MYSELF SWELLING SO PLUMP AND SO ROUND,

'TIL ALL OF A SUDDEN, I ROSE OFF THE GROUND.



I CRASHED THROUGH THE CEILING,
FLOATING INTO THE SKY

WITH A MOUTHFUL OF PUDDING
AND A HANDFUL OF PIE.



BUT, I MANAGED TO YELL AS

I just wanted you to see the initial challenge...

...in honor of friendship and poetry:

Write a poem in which the first and last lines are taken from poems by other poets here. And they can not be from the same poet. So, for example, let's say neonurotic does the challenge. He writes a poem that goes like this:

first line: "blah blah blah blah blah' (from poem X by Wicked Eve)

middle of poem: "blah blah blah blah blah" (neo original)

last line: "blah blah blah blah blah" (from poem Y by tungtied2u)

Get it?

A day again for giving thanks
An appreciation day in itself
but may I make a few suggestions
as you overstuff yourself?

Say grace before you begin to eat
and savor each morsel of food.
Let not your heart be troubled.
Keep good spirits and a good mood.

Take a reflective look around
at all who sit at the table.
Appreciate all who are present.
Reflect on who is no longer able.

Place your heart before your tongue.
Pass the love when you pass the sauce.
No complaints this day about your job.
Some people wish they had a boss.

Be joyous at this grateful time
and Happy Thanksgiving Day.
Go to bed early and set your clock

Just wanted to give a special thanks to those who have commented on my poems today.

Thanksgiving day- me is sick

Trying to cook a turkey dinner with Bronchitus, blasting headache, and hardly any sleep from last nights coughing. I will get to everyone's poems when I'm feeling better. I don't want anyone to think that I don't want to review. It's just that I'm not feeling well.

::sniffle::: I burnt my pumkin pie already. (frustrated) My dad had to call when it was in the oven and he went on and on, and my pie was forgotten. I can just imagine me basting the turkey and it falls out of the oven to the floor. It's going to be one of those days! Hmm, well, with vanilla ice cream or whip cream, I think I can still make that pie taste good. Yes, think postive, Christina.

Okay, done rambling. I will try to read and review tomorrow. I feel bad seeing my reviews and I can't return the favor right now.

SOOO CUTE!!!
Ok...so I made something for Mike for our 3 month (we broke up...but like, we might as well have stayed together 'cause we were still together every single day...I still liked him...whatever)...anyways...so we're pretending that we never broke up...whatever. Anyways...so I wrote some poems and stuff....it's weird because I honestly didn't start writing poems until about 2 weeks ago...it just happened one day. Anyways...here's what I did: I bought a mini photo album that had a little window in the front...so I put a poem in the front....then I wrote this story-like poem and put it in a bunch of pictures...it's really cute. I haven't done something that cute in a while. I gave it to him and he's like "I've never had anyone do anything this romantic for me before" yeah...good times. Anyways, I showed a bunch of people, so I'm thinking I'mma just post it up on here.

****NOTE: If you're just gonna get pissed off by looking at this, THEN DON'T FUCKING LOOK AT IT! I don't need fucking drama when there shouldn't be fucking drama in the first place.




Ok, before you freak out and say "OMFG.....TRUE LOVE????" realize that how hard it is to write a poem and you're trying to make the flow work and stuff....I use "true love" and stuff like that for flow...it's hard to potray stuff and not end up over-exaggerating


Ok, so here's the poem that I had on the front cover:


You question the bounds of my love
Please don’t feel that you try in vain
We share this gift sent from above
For true love’s sake I shall explain

My love’s as boundless as the sea
With soulful passions just as deep
This endless love was Fate’s decree
Enough to put my fears to sleep

God’s peakless mountains are no match
For the majestic love I feel
Our souls are one and won’t detach
For certain this true love is real

My love burns hotter than the sun
Our blazing passions shine as bright
Lost lonely souls combine as one
Our endless love shall mask the night

True love ignites within my core
My heart and soul belong to you
I feared that I could love no more
I’ve waited for a love that’s true

So question not my true love’s bounds
To you I’ve opened up my heart
Despite as corny as this sounds
Know that I’ve loved you from the start



And here are the pics that I had in the book (I shrunk the images...so if you can't read the pic, I printed what the stuff says underneathe)



What follows is a tale that is funny, but true
It depicts all the strange things that love makes us do




There once was a young man that got restless one day
He decided to go to Atlantis to play
(Atlantis is an arcade by the way..)




The crowd was quite normal ‘til someone caught his sight
His interest was piqued by a cute girl that night




He drew her attention by his incessant stare
And tried to seduce her with his charm, wit, and flare




They talked for a long while and he found out her name
Though he hated Atlantis, he was glad that he came




She wasn’t quite sure then, so she said with a smile
“I should probably head home now and sleep for a while”




Now on a new mission to obtain his sweet muse
Contemplating seductions she could not refuse




That night as he’s dreaming he saw only her face
He decided to visit her at her workplace




He so longed to have her and to give her a call
But no one he knew had her phone number at all




A man of true greatness had the number of gold
Now in his possession, it was time to be bold




He had finally called her and asked her to meet
And that night they discovered their new favorite treat
(You'd have to know the chocolate story to understand this one LOL)




They ended the evening with a hot burning kiss
It was hard to recall a time sweeter than this




He met her the next day, but this time as her mate
This certainly proved to be a strange twist of Fate




Even though they just started, they gave into chance
She gave herself to him and performed lover’s dance




They hung out at parties, acting crazy indeed
Movies, music and liquor…what more do you need?




Despite how she loved him, she just wasn’t too sure
For in her harsh mindframe, he was too immature




He truly still loved her, but despite how he tried
She was plagued by her conscience and he was denied





Even though it was over, they couldn’t forget
Still embracing the passion each time that they met




She tried to avoid him and spent time with her friend
But her deep feelings for him were hard to contend




There were those that opposed them and called her a fool
Who said that her life was made for others to rule?





She now understood that she’d loved him from the start
And for her it was truly too painful to part




She could take it no longer, to his arms she ran
Concluded at this point that she did love this man




Through the laughter, and sadness, and times of great woe
This Juliet finally found her Romeo




And so this is the end of this bittersweet tale
Just proves to the masses that true love shall prevail

Thank you for the welcome! I am learning so much here reading others works.. in both poetry and story areas. I feel challenged here and that is a hot feeling! To have others look at my work and finally say.. hmmmm.. good but... lol.. I need that to be pushed to take it to a new level... to see imperfections from others eyes .. that I personally do not see. OK I hate to keep a thread going by compliments alone..But this has to be said~~

Honey~~ I have read your writing, and I do love it. I see so much passion, depth and humor there. I do want to see more of your work It's great~~!!

As far as not being able to compre~~ Me?? You have read* My* poetry..err right.. Good grief..Mine are nothing bit ramblings and thoughts.

This is how I personally see it..
When you get that *feeling* the wanitng, ~ needing~ craving to write well, it kinda just takes on a life of its own.

So go with it.. Go into your own lil world. Let it take you~ carry you away, and just write. Go with your gut and let it flow out. Then there will be time for editing, re-phrasing, posting..whatever you want to do with it.
It can be serious, funny, fantasy, love, or like me, just ramblings and thoughts. Just anything you feel you want to write about.

I know you can do it. I have seeen it in your work. Your great and can do anything you set your mind to. Juts reach out ..grab those feelings/ thoughts and write till you can't breath.Till you feel that sudden burst of air~~FINALLY ~~filling your lungs.. Its a great thing and its just plain ole wonderful.

To me it is. I don't know everyone's writing style. I have to *FEEL IT*..Then I am so far gone~~ nothing or no one can touch me till its done~~written~~and *sighed* over.
Thats just me.

Sorry I jumped on the soapbox..Just could not let that last comment go by without stating my opinion on things.
(Can not believe I said all of this. )It is how I feel and I do stand by it (lol)..
