Republicans are quite simply un-American

so President Trump

Reporters are getting shot by the police

So, in the past few days reporters have been shot, arrested, teargassed, brutalized, threatened and intimidated for the “crime” of covering the George Floyd protests in Louisville, Minneapolis and other American cities.

When I was younger, cops didn’t terrorize reporters like this. There were rules and there was respect. Journalists and police officers might not have the same exact goals, but we never saw cops gunning down reporters on the street. What changed?

Could it have something to do with the president of the United States declaring war on America’s Free Press?

Could it have something to do with the president of the United States declaring that the American Mainstream Media is the enemy of the American people?

Could it have something to do with the president of the United States praising a violent Republican Congressman after the congressman threw a reporter to the ground, and then repeatedly punched him in the face and broke his glasses?

Could it have something to do with the fact that Trump praised Mohammed bin Salman and referred to bin Salman as his friend after bin Salman ordered a squad of thugs to torture and murder a Washington Post reporter?

Three years of such open hostility and contempt for the American Free Press could have everything to do with why cops in the year 2020 are doing the unthinkable and shooting at reporters for the “crime” of merely doing their jobs.

controls the police forces of the deep blue cities of deep blue states. that proves the Democratic governors are worthless

yes, it is those brave patriots burning the cities, shooting the police, and other citizens 'cause black lives matter, that are the REAL Americans.

Un-Americans rise up to re-take un-America.

This is unbelievable.

Over the past few weeks, hundreds of journalists have been arrested, assaulted and shot at while covering the protests against the murder of George Floyd. This has reinforced what we've known for a long time. Trump's constant and vicious attacks on the media have emboldened the police to treat America's Free Press with abuse and contempt.

#GOPCowards trends after new video slamming Republicans for protecting Trump goes viral

A new video highlighting some of the worst Republican responses to President Donald Trump’s actions is going viral, causing #GOPCowards to trend on social media.

Posted just six hours ago by the political action committee MeidasTouch, the video has been viewed nearly 700,000 times.

It opens with commentary about Trump’s tweets, then shows news clips of GOP Senators, including Joni Ernst, Martha McSally, Cory Gardner, and Rick Scott refusing to talk to reporters, and other Republicans Senators – like Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, John Cornyn, and Ted Cruz, scurrying past the press.

Scurrying like the rats they are!:)

GOP senator who acquitted Trump says Bolton’s book doesn’t change his mind — because he believed Trump did it anyway

On Wednesday, Washington Post reporter Seung Min Kim asked Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-TN) about the new allegations from former National Security Adviser John Bolton that President Donald Trump interfered in multiple international criminal investigations for personal gain and tried to get the Chinese president to help him win the election. Alexander said that he does not regret voting against allowing Bolton to testify in the Senate impeachment trial.

The reason? Because Alexander already believed Trump was abusing his office this way — he just didn’t care.

The law means nothing to Rethuglicunts!

"Perhaps the most un-American speech ever delivered by an American president": Ambassador McFaul

President Donald Trump’s address at Mount Rushmore was blasted as “un-American” by former U.S. Ambassador Michael McFaul.

McFaul retweeted a clip of the leader of the free world failing to pronounce the word, “totalitarianism.”

“Trump has no idea what words like fascism and totalitarianism mean,” McFaul, now a professor at Stanford, declared.

“To those who wrote this speech and those senior [White House] officials who approved this speech, shame on you. Perhaps the most un-American speech ever delivered by an American president and on the July 4th weekend no less,” he explained.

Trump’s agents are sweeping peaceful citizens off the streets. This is not America.

Trump's secret police have been using unmarked vehicles to drive around downtown Portland and abduct peaceful protesters....and even people who are just out on the street, walking home. Eye witness accounts and multiple videos posted online show the officers driving up to people, detaining individuals with no explanation of why they are being arrested, and driving off.

This isn't law enforcement. This is Trump's secret police sweeping up random people who have exercised their rights under the First Amendment.

Like Mark Pettibone, 29, who was heading home in the early hours of Wednesday morning when, according to The Post’s Katie Shepherd, “several men in green military fatigues and generic ‘police’ patches sprang out of an unmarked gray minivan.” Pettibone was detained, searched, driven to the federal courthouse, placed in a holding cell and read his Miranda rights against self-incrimination. He declined to waive them. And then, about 90 minutes later, he was released.

“I just happened to be wearing black on a sidewalk in downtown Portland at the time,” Pettibone told Oregon Public Broadcasting. “And that apparently is grounds for detaining me.”

This is not America.

:D Aaah Madeleine Albright, that paragon of good virtue.

Being American means more than being a large clump of people who were born on American soil. Being American means believing in the values that our Founder Father’s codified in the United States Constitution back in 1787. After we fought and won our independence from the British Monarchy, me made certain that America would be nothing like a monarchy, a theocracy or a dictatorship.

Americans believe in Freedom of Speech, we believe in Freedom of the Press, we believe in Freedom of Assembly. We believe in Freedom of Religion. We believe in Separation between Church and State. We believe in trials before a fair and impartial judge. We also believe in Separation of Powers between the three branches of government, to make it hard for one person to accumulate too much power and thus become a dictator.

More and more, we are seeing that Republicans reject American values.

Donald Trump tells us that the United States Constitution is a “really bad thing” and expresses frustration that the Separation of Powers keeps him from acting like a dictator.

Shortly after the election of 2016, Trump attacked leaders from America’s Free Press and berated and bullied media big shots during an off-the-record Trump Tower meeting.

In America, the media has the freedom to investigate America’s political leaders and political candidates. They have the freedom to report on their findings. The United States Constitution specifically states that the freedom of the press shall not be abridged.

Donald Trump seems to think that he’s living in a dictatorship and that he can tell the television networks, newspapers and cable outlets what stories off-limits and what photos they are prohibited from publishing. He attacks news anchors and network chiefs for covering the “wrong” stories.

Trump has gone so far as to declare war on America’s Free Press and incite violence towards investigative reporters. And he has also taken an outraged and hostile attitude towards the First Amendment.

With an openly hostile attitude towards the Constitution of the United States, Trump has threatened to eliminate the First Amendment protections the Supreme Court has built into our nation’s libel laws – and has suggested that he will soon start revoking the FCC licenses of media outlets that he doesn’t like.

It would be bad enough if Trump was the only Republican who felt this way, however, nearly HALF of the Republicans in the United States want to give Donald Trump the power to shut down media outlets that he doesn’t like.

An Ipsos poll has found that nearly half (48 per cent) of self-identified Republicans agree "the news media is the enemy of the American people". Meanwhile, some believe Mr. Trump should be allowed to act against certain publications, with 43 per cent of Republicans saying, "the president should have the authority to close news outlets engaged in bad behavior".

Not long after this poll was completed, Trump came out and praised another Republican named Greg Gianforte. Gianforte assaulted a reporter during his campaign last May, throwing the reporter to the ground and then repeatedly punching him in the face and breaking his glasses. Gianforte tried to lie to the police about the incident, however, witnesses testified that Gianforte did indeed assault the reporter without provocation.

Trump think that assaulting reporters is GREAT and says, “any guy who can do a body slam ... he's my guy" and made a gesture mimicking a body slam.

Trump also called Gianforte, "One of the most respected people in Congress," and a "tough cookie."
So, the leader of the Republican Party goes to Montana and applauded the assault on an American journalist who works for the Guardian. To celebrate an attack on a journalist who was simply doing his job is an attack on the First Amendment by someone who has taken an oath to defend it. However, Republicans seem to be totally cool with Trump’s behavior.

In addition to being openly hostile towards America’s Free Press and the First Amendment Protections that are supposed to protect them government harassment, Republicans are also very hostile towards Constitutional protections that give all Americans Freedom of Religion and guarantees an immutable Separation of Church and State.

Public Policy Polling released a survey measuring Republican attitudes and opinions. A disturbingly large percentage of them (57 percent) said that Christianity should, in fact, be established as the United States’ national religion. Younger Republicans (in the 18 – 45 age group) were even more in favor of chucking the Constitutional Separation of Church and State (63 percent). And those Republicans who backed Mike Huckabee in the Republican primary were almost universal in the idea of making Christianity the official religion of the United States (94 percent).

Let me be clear, not only is it a direct violation of the Constitution of the United States to establish a state-sponsored religion, it is also an idea that always turns out horrible results. Anyone who doubts this need only google what it was like when Catholicism became the official religion of Slovakia in the 20th century, or what it’s like right now with Islam as the official religion of Saudi Arabia.

Theocracies are always dictatorships. One religious group gets all the power, and people who have the "wrong" religious beliefs are executed, oppressed or deported.

Theocratic rule goes against everything America stands for. However, theocratic rule is EXACTLY what millions of Republicans want.

And, even though the First Amendment to the United States Constitution prohibits the government from enacting legislation that would restrict citizens' rights to peaceably assemble, Republican legislators in five states are attempting to do just that.

Republicans have introduced legislation in North Dakota, Minnesota, Washington, Michigan, and Iowa, that would take away the Freedom to Peacefully Assemble from missions of our fellow Americans.

In North Dakota, Republicans introduced a bill that would allow motorists to run over and kill any protester obstructing a highway.

In Minnesota, Republican legislators want to pave the way for prosecutors to send highway protesters to jail for a full year.

Republicans in Washington state have proposed a plan to reclassify civil disobedience protests as a felony.

Republicans in Michigan have written up a bill that would make it easier for businesses to sue protesters.

In Iowa, a Republican lawmaker has pledged to introduce legislation to crack down on highway protests.

And let us not forget the blatant way that Donald Trump habitually violates the Emoluments Clause of the United States Constitution. The Emoluments Clauses was put in place by the framers of the Constitution to protect against corruption, however, Trump has treated the Emoluments Clause (and every other part of the U.S. Constitution) as mere suggestions that he can ignore any time he feels like it.

Trump has been using the Presidency to get money funneled into his privately-owned businesses. His hotels and other businesses have seen money pour in from the Saudis, the Chinese and other foreign nations, thus motivating Trump to show favoritism to nations like China and Saudi Arabia. This is the whole reason the Emoluments Clause exists in the first place, to keep the president loyal to the American People, and NOT to whichever foreign nation pays him the largest bribes!

Americans need to know that their president is acting in their interest and not in the interest of his private businesses. President Trump has refused again and again to separate himself from his business empire to avoid pervasive conflicts of interest and constitutional violations.

And as a result of Trump’s refusal to obey the Constitution and separate his business empire from the Office of the Presidency, we now have the president of the United States engaging in a murder cover-up, to protect the flow of Saudi cash flowing into his private businesses.

And yet Republican are totally okay with all of this.

Republicans seem to be rejecting EVERYTHING that is good about America! Freedom of Speech, Freedom of Assembly, Freedom of the Press, Freedom of Religion and Separation of Church and State all seem to be alien ideas to these people!

They seem to want to live in a Christian theocracy, where the government tells you what religious doctrines you’ll follow and what church you’ll attend and criticizing the government will get you thrown into jail.

Back in the eighteenth century America fought a war to GET AWAY from a government like that! Now, Republicans are pushing America back in that direction!

Republicans are un-American. It’s just that simple.

Very interesting post.

Here (UK) the vast majority of us look at the US in total horror at the minute. I mean, granted we have our own political dumpster fires, but not in the same league.

I cannot fathom how anyone could vote for Trump. First time round, yeah - two fingers up to the world, immigration, trade etc. Sort of get it. Also I get that the clintons seem to stir a deep irrational hatred in some. So, in 2016 it made some sort of sense. Shit sense, but sense.

Now? You know what you are getting. There is no basement to the behaviour that he or his enablers in the gop exhibit. Your allies don’t trust you and the despots he admires are pissing themselves. As for the pandemic - what a shitshow.

How anyone can vote for Keep America Great is a mystery.

Person, man, woman, camera, TV.

Trump knows he's going to lose and he's scooping up as much cash as he can before he's ousted

“It’s definitely unconstitutional, this is a violation of the emoluments clause of the Constitution,” Richard Painter, (the White House chief ethics attorney in the George W. Bush administration) replied. “The founders were very intent that no one who holds a position of trust and confidence with the United States government ought to be permitted to receive profits and benefits from foreign governments.”

“Clearly unconstitutional, he has been soliciting emoluments around the globe, it’s been going on for a long time, and it needs to be shut down,” Painter explained.

“I think he knows he’s on the way out the door and he’s going to take as much as he can off the table, and as much as he can between now and January 20th,” Painter said.

Expert explains the psychopathology that underlies Trump’s dictatorial behavior

I’m not being hyperbolic or melodramatic when I say that democracy itself is on the line on November 3. Donald Trump has been on a mission to subvert our democracy and to push it toward an autocracy. No president has ever disavowed democracy like Trump. No president has ever wanted to change our democratic way of life like Trump.

Trump has shown little interest or intent in following our Constitution. He is not abiding by the emoluments clause. He breaks norms and rules at will. He does not recognize that the three branches of government are co-equal. He operates as if the executive branch has total power. Our democracy is not based on the executive branch having absolute power. It requires that the three branches have separate powers in a check-and-balances system. Trump impugns democracy because it limits his power and requires him to be held accountable.

Trump has crossed boundaries and politicized the Justice Department. He has finally “hired” an attorney general who functions as his personal attorney rather than the top judicial official for the country. Trump has done this so that he can stop any criminal investigations into his behavior. This allows his corruption to run rampant. That’s not how the judicial branch of government is intended to function in our democracy. It is designed to be independent with its own power. But not according to Trump.

A free press is guaranteed in the first amendment of the Constitution. But Donald Trump has systematically tried to undermine our free press from the beginning. The press’ role is to be a watchdog of government and to provide information to the public. Trump hates the press because he does not want to be watched, examined, scrutinized, or challenged. Whenever he does not like a story, he calls it “fake news” in order to minimize its importance to the public. Trump hates journalists, calls them “the enemy of the people,” and believes he can jail them. A free press is critical in a democracy. It keeps our elected officials earnest and honest. That’s why Trump is so disdainful and dismissive of the press. The irony is that it is the free press that helped to elect him in 2016.

Trump has spent the past four years attacking our democracy for his own personal and political gains. He is a malignant narcissist with antisocial leanings. His psychopathology is what underlies his dictatorial and autocratic preferences. His psychiatric disturbance won’t just disappear magically. Its influence is severe and constant.

Make no mistake about it, Donald Trump is attacking our democracy like no president in the past. Please don’t ignore it or minimize it. It is a full-frontal assault that will have disastrous consequences for decades and even generations to come.

Vote on Nov. 3 for our democracy. It is on the ballot.

The Republicans are waging a war on the United States Postal Service, the only agency that can safely deliver our ballots during the worst pandemic in over 100 years.

This is more than just being un-American! The Republicans are FUCKING EVIL!

Republicans are un-American. It’s just that simple.

Under Trump, the Republicans have become the pro-Russia party. They hate the FBI, they hate the American intelligence community, they hate American ideals like freedom of the press, freedom of speech and freedom of assembly, but they’re enamored with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

I’d like to say that this is something new, but the sad truth is America has a long history of right-wing extremists in America who are opposed to American ideals.

In the 1930’s and 1940’s, a radio preacher named Charles Coughlin was an outspoken advocate for Adolf Hitler. He praised Hitler while simultaneously attacking President Roosevelt.

And Coughlin had millions of followers. They embraced Hitler as a righteous Catholic and decried Roosevelt for appointing so many Jews to his administration. They sneeringly referred to his New Deal as the “Jew Deal” and accused him of being “Pro-Jew”.

And just as Trump supporters today are rabid about keeping Syrian refugees and Central American refugees out of America, Coughlin supporters were rabid about keeping Jewish refugees out of America.

Coughlin’s supporters even created a right-wing extremist group that called themselves the “Christian Front”. This was a pro-Hitler, anti-Jewish group that conspired to steal weapons, kill Jewish leaders, and overthrow the United States government by force. Luckily, their plans were halted by the FBI before they even got past the early planning stages of their plot.

Charles Coughlin used his radio show to show his support for the Christian Front. He called them “Pro-American, “Anti-Communist” and “Pro-Christian”.

The Christian Front of the 1940’s bears strong resemblance to right-wing extremist groups of today, such as QAnon and the Proud Boys. It’s a different decade, but the same sort of mindset, support for dictators, contempt to democracy and hatred of minorities.

Charles Coughlin with his love of authoritarian dictators, hatred of minorities and use of the media to incite hatred, ignorance and violence bears a strong resemblance to Rush Limbaugh, Bill O’Reilly and Donald Trump.

It’s about 80 years later, but almost nothing has changed. It’s like we’ve learned nothing. We have millions of Americans who are embracing fascism and rejecting American ideals. We have right-wing extremists who praise foreign dictators, while bad-mouthing the FBI and others who are trying to protect America’s National Security.

All Trump has to do is tell the right-wing extremists that he black athletes who peacefully protest before football games,he hates the Central American refugees, he hates the Kurds, he hates Syrian refugees and he hates little Latino children, and he has them eating out of the palm of his hand.

As long as Trump hates the same people they hate, they’ll kiss Putin’s ass and put America’s national security at risk.

Trump is anti-American: Longtime GOP consultant

The Republican Party right now is anti-American. If America is anything, it’s a nation of immigrants, and they’re an anti-immigrant party. If America is anything, it’s supporting the Bill of Rights. Today’s Republicans are against many parts of the Bill of Rights. Trump does not believe in freedom of the press. Trump does not believe in freedom of assembly. Trump and today’s Republican Party are anti-American.

In the 1930s, there was a huge fascist element in America. Why did America not fall to fascism like Italy and Germany and other European countries? Probably because Roosevelt was president and not Charles Lindbergh. One of the critical lessons I take away from Donald Trump’s presidency is that leaders matter.

Republicans are trying to suppress nonwhite votes in every way they can, be it legal or illegal. They want to suppress the nonwhite vote and maximize the white vote. That is all. Donald Trump is a white-grievance president. That may not be all of what Trump represents, but it is a great deal of it.

WATCH: First Time In History A U.S. President Is Called ‘Un-American’

The usual outcry of “fake news” by Donald Trump is ringing hollower than usual with respect to the Atlantic piece, where it was reported that the titular commander in chief uses words like “sucker” and “loser” to describe our troops. I suspect the reason for that is because Trump has been around long enough and used enough inappropriate and disparaging language to describe people, that no allegation is too bizarre. That, plus the damnable fact that other news outlets — including Fox News — are validating the story, makes this a watershed moment in an “administration” of nothing but watershed moments.

Here’s the Lincoln Project’s two cents.

"Donald Trump can't comprehend what it means to sacrifice. He's un-American.

Serving the nation is the epitome of American honor."

Roger Stone calls for Trump to declare 'martial law' if he loses the election, and order the arrest of Mark Zuckerberg, Tim Cook, and the Clintons

Convicted felon Roger Stone declared that the only legitimate outcome to the 2020 election would be a Trump victory. Stone also urged Trump to consider declaring ‘martial law’ and then using his powers to arrest Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Apple CEO Tim Cook, ‘the Clintons’ and others who have been critical of Trump or Trump's policies

This generated a great deal of commentary on Twitter, including from Watergate figure John Dean, who has known Stone since the Nixon administration.

“Roger Stone wants Trump to declare himself America’s dictator. Roger is saying what many Republicans crave — a Trump dictatorship. Roger will be one of those provoking violence when Trump loses. Indeed, he will be leading the fruitcake’s protest parade,” Dean tweeted.

The GOP is staging chaos on the way to a coup

Two news stories that almost speak for themselves without the need for commentary.

First, the 4-3 conservative majority on the Wisconsin Supreme Court has made a bizarre, nonsensical ruling that will throw Wisconsin’s entire election into disarray for no good reason.

There is no plausible rationale for the decision, and no way to implement it in a manner that won’t throw the election into chaos. The Wisconsin Supreme Court was made very well aware of this, and the conservative Koch-purchased majority choose this course of action, anyway. Nor was the cynical Green Party acting alone:

Meanwhile, Donald Trump’s pardoned felonious close advisor and Russia-Wikileaks conduit Roger Stone just told Alex Jones that Trump should seize total power in a coup should he lose the election:

Remember that the GOP is responsible for the Orange Menace. They let him in and couldn't find a candidate who could defeat Hillary without resorting to racism and bigotry! :)

Trump and his supporters have made a mockery of US patriotism

On September 17, in a speech delivered at the National Archives Museum, President Trump announced he was signing an executive order establishing the 1776 Commission, aimed at promoting what he called a “patriotic” and “pro-America” education. The announcement was a direct attack on the 1619 Project, a New York Times initiative that explores the legacy of slavery in the United States. For Trump, teaching critical race studies is akin to committing child abuse “in the truest sense of those words.”

“Our youth will be taught to love America with all of their heart and souls,” Trump announced. He accused the left of destroying children’s love of their country by teaching the facts of its history — facts, he claimed, wrongly “rewrite” American history as founded on oppression rather than freedom. He’s demanded that schools “teach American exceptionalism” and said that schools are teaching students to “hate their own country.”

This was just the latest show of Trump’s blatant conflation of racism with patriotism and it served as yet another example of how Trump has turned patriotism into a self-serving performance free of any connection to facts. From the start, Trump has attempted to define patriotism not as loving the country, but rather as loving Trump. All we need to do is remember that the same man who dodged military service spent over $2.5 million on a Fourth of July military parade designed to be primarily a celebration of himself.

By "America" he means "me."

Our youth will be taught to love me with all their heart and souls, like Kim Jong Un.
