Runners unite?

Half my battle is trying to keep my pace down so I don't burn out too quickly.
That may be partly due to lack of experience: if you're not confident of running the full distance then one tends to try to do the first bit faster in order to "get there quicker".

One tip is to practise running for time rather than distance: set your mind to run for, say, one hour and then stop, rather than aiming to cover X miles. That gets you out of the mindset of hurrying along in order to finish.

Ideally, you'd also find someone to run with at your target pace. That way, you can delegate the job of worrying about distance versus time, and let your mind relax.

Hope that helps a bit. :)

Thanks for the advice will give it a go.
Just did a lunchtime 9.6km in 57min so my pace is getting better and I did feel ok afterwards.
Not in line with your advice I know but what was available at the time.

I had hoped to, but other distractions intervened!

How did it go?
.

Fine, just a swift 5k to loosen off from being in the office.
Jeez listen to me! 8 months ago 5k would have been an achievement lol

It poured rain on my way to the race, but sort of quit when I got there. It sprinkled rain for the first mile, then quit for the rest of the day. By the time the race was over, the sun was out. It was a fantastic race, with somewhere in the neighborhood of 60k participants. There was a mile, 5k, 10k, 15k and the half-marathon all going on at the same time. Quite an experience. I'm already signed up for next year's.:D

That sounds great! I like running in light rain, as long as it isn't accompanied by freezing temperatures and biting winds. I assume that you did the half marathon. 60,000 participants is a lot, but if they're in different races with staggered starts then I guess it's manageable.

Well done, and roll on next year (for you, at least). :)

Like you I don't mind a light rain, in the summer months. I absolutely love running when it's snowing, it's so quiet. I live in the country, so it's really peaceful then.

Yes, I did the half-marathon, and they stagger the staging groups every 15 minutes. I've done it both ways, and like this way much better. Before, it'd take a person a half hour just to get to the start line, and the clock is ticking the whole time.

Thank you. Ever running forward.:)

I'm a runner! Have been since high school. Love 5k and 10k! My next race is a 4 mile for the 4th of July :) NTMU all!

Been running in organised runs for the last three years. My favourite distance is the marathon, finished my third in May. I also really enjoy Spartan Races, finished my fourth and fifth this weekend and looking to complete my second trifecta in August. I love that feeling of pushing past you limits and that rush of knowing that you are a lot stronger than you ever thought you could be... I live for it!

Yes! The rush of new found strength, busting through bad days, always looking forward. Run on, ever run on.

7.5 mile run today. It went well. I felt lethargic before I went out, but animated and positve throughout the run. I returned feeling refreshed, hardly weary at all. :)

A few hours later, though, I've reverted to a depleted and hazy-headed state. I think my tiredness must originate from my head rather than my body.

Yay! I ran nearly 12 miles today without any problems, only having to stop when I was caught in a heavy deluge of rain near the River Thames. I might as well have gone for a swim. ;)

Body and mind are both relaxed now. I'm off for a warm bath! :)

10km Berlin

Anyone doing the Berlin 10km Night City Run on the 29th July?

I’ll be running a marathon in July. I’m going to squeeze in two halfs before that.
