Love the scuba pics hubby. My fav is the lionfish. Where were they taken at?
On another note apologies for no pics lately. It's been bloody hot to go outside! It's made me really lazy, but here are a few to make up for it. :p There's no particular theme for these shots. Still experimenting with styles.

Saw the moon during the day. Couldn't resist taking a picture.

This flower was looking photogenic, so I decided to take a shot.

Hi all! Sorry I've been scarce, but I was travelling for the last week. I have some pix to share from our trip, but I'll save those til later.

I love the underwater shots, Me Hubby! They're all wonderful, but I especially appreciate the abstract quality of this one:

Skipp, thanks for sharing! I especially love this shot:

Mike, I have two cameras that I use. One is a P&S Nikon Coolpix S200. It isn't bad for a wee thing. My 'good' camera is a Pentax D100 (dslr). I have a ton of old lenses from my K1000 that I use with it.

Lastly, as a teaser, here's a panorama shot (7 frames) I took at the Big River in Mendocino. [NOTE: It is really big! 5 MB to be exact

WOW!!!

Those are gorgeous!

No worries or apologies necessary, Skipp. I hope that the personal stuff is all good and, if not, quickly resolves itself to your satisfaction.

Thanks for the kind words re the panorama. I just stood there and the camera did most of the work!

Hang in there!

What a great thread. I have no art of my own to contribute, but I hope you won't mind if I stop in to enjoy your gifts.

Here's another shot taken while on vacation in Mendocino:

Thanks Fflow. If you're wondering I'm doing a lot better now. July 4th is just a tough time for me.

Oh wow, incredible shot Fflow. I like how there's one standing out so proudly amongst the others. What kind of flower is that? By the way, love the Emerson siggy.
Here's my go at the shots. Been in a photograph drought as of late, so I have some catching up to do :p
Here's my go with a few shots after having a photograhical drought.

I'm glad you're better, Skipp! If you need an ear to bend, mine is fairly flexible.

Thanks for the kind words. I'm pretty sure they're poppies! The grouping was so striking to me that I couldn't resist their allure.

By the way, love the Emerson siggy.

Thanks! I love Emerson. Whenever I feel challenged by life, I try to remember that quote. It is very sound advice.

These are both fantastic. The colors in the first are so seductive. I guess that's why people love roses.

This second one feels like a shot I'd take! I really do love it. Those deep greens contrast beautifully against those delicate white flowers. Great job, Skipp!

Thank you, as always, for sharing!

I don't know if writing is art, but I have been in a long dry spell when it comes to creating lyrics/poetry. Sometimes I just force myself to write, with no agenda other than to start and finish something.

So, tonight, I started and finished something. More often than not, I have to live with words for a while to understand what they mean. I suspect, though, from the structure that these will end up as lyrics. That's good, because it means I'll be recording a new song, something I've been wanting to do ever since I got my new computer.

Of course, any interpretations, comments, or other feedback is most welcome:

Evaporate
by Fflow
7/19/10 12:27 AM

I wish I could cry
over milk I've spilled
but mother's milk
has long been dry.

I pity the pour,
and the waiting glass.
Evaporate
my loves' labor.

The words I wished I'd never said,
the words I didn't say,
the ghosts of long forgotten dead
darkening the day.

I wish you were here
to hear my excuse.
No ear to bend:
No lies to fear.

I dream of your face,
of forgiveness found.
With every breath
I ache for grace.

The words, once living, now are dead.
The words I use to pray
are ashes in an empty bed:
No sleep for me today.

Why did my fear prevent me from telling you how I feel
Why did I let my shame stop me from trying to heal

I now see the lie
haunting my fortune,
but letting go
will let me die.

I will not still crave
those old appetites
that lead me to
an early grave.

Bubbles........

I was on the line this afternoon watching the others descend......the bubbles are so hypnotic!

I'm glad you're better, Skipp! If you need an ear to bend, mine is fairly flexible.
Thanks, I'll remember that.

Thanks! I love Emerson. Whenever I feel challenged by life, I try to remember that quote. It is very sound advice.
That's good words to live by. I love Emerson, but me, I'm more of a Thoreau guy. Both great writers of their time though.

These are both fantastic. The colors in the first are so seductive. I guess that's why people love roses.
Thanks. I completely agree.

This second one feels like a shot I'd take!
I'm flattered you said that, thank you.

Wow, love those bubbles hubby. They are quite hypnotic indeed.

A few more shots.. Class started up this week, so I haven't had much time for pictures.

I've seen this flower before... do you happen to know what it is called?

Great shot, this one:

Thanks! I hope you'll feel inspired to share something creative with us.

There are a group of evil ponies nearby, and I'm always watchful for signs of collusion.
