Since most of my friends are on this forum...

As a past smoker of 36 years, I feel for ya beaches! Never easy to deal with. I must have tried to quit 50 times but when I was finally ready, it actually went pretty smoothly. Anyway, glad you're getting some medical answers.

The trip was great and had a fantastic visit with my granddaughter. 2 1/2 years old and she doesn't stop singing or talking from the moment she gets up until she's too worn out and falls asleep.

Anyway, happy Monday, such as it is ...

Morning Tom! Glad you had a wonderful thanksgiving! That's such a great age. I always think its funny when parents flip out over the terrible twos. They're a day off with pay compared to the Pre-teen angst years.

It's a good Monday so far. I got canceled at work for this morning and I'll find out soon if I have to go in at 11. I'm hoping for the day off!

Hope you have a simply lovely Monday!

I had 4 teenage daughters in my house at the same time ... and when they synchronized their friggin' periods to each other it was a damned NIGHTMARE!

:D

Here ... I took a self-pic for you.

Ya like my new tatoo's? ;)

That's when you just quietly leave and go to the bar around the corner. Yanno the one. Big screen tvs everywhere? :D

Tattoos? What tattoos? :D

Happy hump day! I'm waiting on my doctor as we type. Have two appts today and another Friday. This shit seriously blows. And not in the good way.

Kids, we finally came full circle. It only took 13 months but I got great news today. My heart is fixed. No pacemaker and no more ablations in my near future! Best Christmas present ever. I've been snoopy dancing all afternoon. :D

Thank you all for your love and support. Thanks for the giggles and the ass chewings. I know y'all only did it out of love. 2013 has been a crazy year. It's brought lots of challenges and seen a lot of changes. Maybe now things can settle down into some version of normalcy. Not that I expect this thread to be any kind of normal; God knows the participants of this thread are too crazy to ever be considered normal. :D I wouldn't have it any other way. Love ya all!

So fine woman of sand and surf, what happened? This has been going on for months and months. Don't say some ol' doc just told you to take Aspirin either. Tell us about your bionic heart, a cyborg beauty of flesh and the latest nano technology, complete with unlimited iTunes downloads.
Or maybe you had a baboon heart transplant. Now you have the energy of your formative years and can fuck for hours and hours. And now you crave bananas instead of ciggies.

Do tell.

Normal is a setting on my clothes washer. Only time "normal" applies to anything.

Thanks everybody! Have a round of drinks on me. Hey! Can I add to Rainy's drink thread? Belly up to the bar every time she picks on me for smoking? :D Never fear, Mizz Rainy, I am going to try again.

Nothing so dramatic, Em. He did an ablation back in October and burned two of the four pathways that were firing inappropriately. He didn't want to disturb the other two because they were too close to the part of my heart responsible for communicating between the atria and ventricles. He kept me on my Pre-procedure medicines so when I started dropping beats, he hoped it was because the medicine was disturbing the communication. He stopped that med and I began feeling better by the next day. I haven't had any more episodes of dropped beats, racing, or a too slow heartbeat since. He declared me heart-healthy and told me he didn't wanna see me (outside work - he's kinda stuck w me there lol) for three months. Woot!

Night, I'll join the party when I'm home and can watch from the comfort if my PC. (And when I know watching it won't tempt me to burn my eyeballs out.) :D

GREAT NEWS, Beachers!!!

So very happy for you. It's good news to hear ... even if it is a Monday! ;)

I worked the weekend so it's my Saturday. :D It was one of the craziest weekends (literally) I've ever worked. Two patients were absolutely bat shit crazy. I added a couple of new skills to my resume. I now know I can give a shot to a patient while they're flailing around trying to bite everyone in their reach, and I know I can start an IV on a moving target. I also know that I can get a sedative in that same IV within 1.24 seconds of getting that open IV line. And I have secured my position as the Queen of Poop. I can make people poop that haven't pooped for weeks. When nobody else can do it, I can still make 'em poop. :D

Hey! It's an important life skill! Ya don't realize how important good bowel function is until you don't have it!

So when you find yourself hating your job, just remember this. At least ya don't have people trying to bite you or celebrating your skills by showing off their poop to you! :D

What a wonderful.. wonderful.. truly wonderful piece of news. I can only imagine the stress you must have felt - how task oriented you must have become. I wish I could just hug you and let you breathe.. such sweet news

Thank you Giggle. Yes I was so exhausted after both illnesses that I only had enough energy for the job. Even that drained me. I spent more energy trying to conserve energy than on anything I had to do. Since I'm feeling better, I've become a tornado again. Ok maybe a dust devil. :D It was an awful feeling. You know as well as I do what it would mean for someone my age to need a PPM. I was freaking out just a tad!

I have to say the worst I had at my job was an office manager who called me "retarded." Yes a full grown, supposedly professional woman, who was angry that I didn't know what her issue was when I picked up the phone. I did what I always do in over the top situations, I busted out laughing. She hung up. No poop or bite marks were exchanged.

I'm glad I know you can help if I'm ever stopped up Beachy. ;)

I would've laughed too Minxie. :D

I have all kinds of interesting and amusing (if slightly disgusting) party tricks in my nursing bag. Maybe some of them are more than slightly disgusting. And should never be discussed at parties.

My niece is a nurse, and she doesn't follow that rule. The nastier the better, and she discusses them at the dinner table at family gatherings. It's ok though--our family has a high gross out tolerance.

For reasons that will be completely obvious once you watch the clip, the above reminded me of this clip.

Click the pic below to see the clip.

You know you want to.

Just click it.

That was our biggest fear in rad tech school when we learned we would have to perform barium enemas on patients.

That's gross Em!!

Whoah, hey! It's talk like this that will get folks all scared about clicking the link.

You guys are acting like this is the Blue Waffle Blue Plate Special or something.

This is merely an informative clip, conveying the importance of those in the medical field being in tune with not only a patient's verbal communication, but non-verbal body language as well.

It's learning stuff.

I had a CT yesterday and was sitting there reading some stuff while I waited, one about barium enemas.... Blegh.

Was this the follow up thingy to the thingy a few months back? Mother's Day if memory serves.
