Other than a rather foul case of bronchitis and laryngitis, this whole week has been rather lucky. I won't go into details right now, but the crowning glory was a huge raise that I got this week. $3/hr! Never fear. If I get/take the new job, the new pay scale will go with me. Wish me luck!

Friday 13 been and gone here - nothing negative or auspicious, though I did sleep through a planned phone date - actually that is a negative.

Re. job - all the curses of nursing hell if they don't accept you - I dated a few nurses - those curses are mean!

It worked, Night. I got the job! And yeah those curses are evil! I'm still terrified of full moons! Lots of nurses fear STEMI curses, but personally the sundowners' curse does it for me!

How did your all day drinking spree turn out? I started late - about 2200, but I made up for lost time quickly. I passed drunk and went straight to fucked up. Yesterday was a rough day for me. It started in tears, spent some time in drunken giggles, and ended in tears. I'm just happy I'm not hungover this morning.

That big full moon is taunting me this morning. It should be a glorious day. <\sarcasm>

Nurses don't like full moons! I'm always skeered to walk on the unit during a full moon. Anything is an improvement over yesterday tho.
 
If I didn't have to work the next day I could probably enjoy it. :D Twelve hours of pure hell overshadows the beauty of the damn thing. Tuesday was sooo bad. How bad was it you ask. It was so bad I didn't get to pass my 1700 meds until 1930 and I threatened to start carrying a ball gag in my nursing bag. Come to think of it, that's not a bad idea.

I got into a creepy conversation with one of the docs about weird sex toys. Not sure how that happened. Lol. Another doc informed me that my bronchitis is actually pneumonia, and I fully expected one of my patients to die. She didn't, but I'll be surprised if she's still with us today. Oh, and I got a snake out of another patient's room. It was one of those very rare and elusive spotted dementia rattlers. We couldn't convince her there was no snake in her room so we gave up and just brought in a rattlesnake wrangler (aka nurses aide lol) to get rid of it.

They didn't teach us how to deal with shit like that in nursing school.

We had a little pseudo-excitement yesterday. A few of us were sitting at the nurses station when the code blue light went off in one of the rooms. In unison, three nurses muttered oh fuck and went running into that room. By the time we got there a couple more had joined us. We went hauling ass in there, focused on the patient. It only took us a second to realize the patient was ok then we glanced around the room. A female deputy had been sitting w the patient who was also a prisoner. She was in the corner with her hand on her sidearm. Apparently we scared her as much as she scared us. Lol. She was trying to call the nurse for something and hit the wrong button. We educated her (lol) and left. I wonder if anybody had the presence of mind to ask what she wanted and help her. Lol. I didn't. I was in code blue mode. Anything less than that at that point didn't even register in my mind.

I guess we're lucky nobody got shot. Lol
