So I've Been Looking Into It, And I Think I Am Gor

Ha ha, very funny. You know perfectly well what I meant. If you can't describe it any better than that, why do you find it so charming? Surely you must know what it means and what it looks like. Don't be such a pansy, tell me what the hell you're talking about. And yes, I tried to Google it, so don't point me in that direction.

*Fwap!* No no no no no! You have to be an expert in at least TWO nerd activities to be considered a true nerd.

I.E. Star Trek AND comic books.

(or)

PC gaming AND D&D

Etc.

:D

So sayeth the nerd queen.

I'm a closet Star Trek fan, but I think that's it. Harry Potter doesn't count, right? That's totally mainstream. Sweet! I'm sooo not a nerd.

Agreed - I was thinking, what the hell is he talking about? Please oh please describe it a bit better?

Like Star Trek and manga?

D&D and Trek?

Medieval weaponry and symbolic logic (zero sum games theory)?

Monty Python and Black Adder?

Asterix and Obelisk and 101 ways to poison a sibling with common kitchen items?

Okay, enough nerdy hijacking of Mr. Rathbone's thread.

Try yahoo?

Honestly I have no idea what you meant. She touches her palm to her chin. You can do it too, I'm sure it looks the same. I believe it means she's asking for permission to speak or something.

*grumbles*

Okay, let's make it explicit. Are her fingers curled, bent, or straight? Does she touch with the center of her palm, or the heel? Does she touch the center of her chin, the side of her chin, the underside of her chin? Is her hand straight up and down or turned to the left or the right?

The reason I am so demandingly curious is because I like the whole "permission to speak" concept, and I didn't know it was a part of Gor, but I can't find it in ANY Gor references, and I want to know more. So you are my only source!

Gorean slaves are trained by their Master, there isn't really a rule book when it comes to training. What she does is probably something her Master or a past Master has trained her to do.

That surprises me. I believe you, but it surprises me. As much as Goreans dwell in a fantasy world written by John Norman, they make up their own training? Well, Marquis can still clarify the hand positions for me. :)

Yep... kinda like real Masters and slaves do.

I could, but I won't.

I wouldn't want to stifle your own creativity with too many details. If you like the custom, make up your own!

(If you must know, it seems to vary, but essentially has her hands held upwards in like a begging motion, lightly touching chin. For any greater detail, you will need a subpoena)

KC, what do you think about all this? When did you get involved in Gor?

*grins wickedly*

KC is fortunate in that I don't dwell in the OL fantasy realm of Gor.

Or I would have her naked, in sirik, serving me paga and bosk steak and sartarna bread... waiting in nadu for my pleasure.

Unless I was in the mood to put her in red silk...

Or have her dance the chain dance for me...

Why does this surprise you? Look at the followers of the culture displayed in the fantasy novel "Bible".

Actually, I'm even less familiar with those books than I am with Gor. I know very little about the "Bible" series and most people I associate with aren't fans either. I do know a few people who love it, but I, always superficial with them because they're nice kids and I don't want to scare them.

Additionally this is the sound of RR's dick talking. He's too smooth and suave to make a separate thread for it.

Q.E.F. I am neither smooth nor suave.

Fortunately, I agree.

Star Trek and Harry Potter

By the Nerd Queen's proclamation, you, my dear ITW, are a nerd.

*giggles*

I helped one of my friends with a chain dance she did for the fest they attend. I wish I was that talented a dancer.

A chainmailler friend of ours made a sirik for her. She doesn't like the feel of it too much, but I love it. I end up playing with it every time I see it, which usually ends up with me in it *giggles*.

Come to think of it, this is about the time she calls me up asking for slave wear to take to fest.

You made a completely in-context reference to the Picard Maneuver at lunch. That has secured you a place in my heart for all time.

:heart::rose::heart:

I must admit that the way you were deftly touching and exploring that iPhone was rather... distracting.

Oh my god - stop talking about my phone like that!

I missed the Picard maneuver reference. I think. Did I?

Does Harry Potter really qualify me as a nerd?

I've just started to get into Torchwood - does that help? The man on man action in that show has nothing to do with it either. Noooo, I'm really into temporal rifts or whatever. Uh huh.

I'm afraid of Etoile! Hee.

I wouldn't call myself a "fan" but I did my time in sunday school. Unlike the Gor series, it's the basis or at least shows up in most of the western civilization canon. It's also been around for just a bit longer, and is ever so slightly more popular.
