son of the isolated blurts thread!

Just sitting here enjoying the early morning silence of a dirty old machine shop. At least I get paid to be here. lol

this waking up at 4:30 shit has to stop some time.

and no, waking up earlier is not an acceptable change. but at least the kitchen is clean and ready for breakfast creation. :>

That dirty dirty girl. I knew she'd put out last night, and I was pretty sure this morning too, and I was soooo right.

I was considering cooking breakfast too--and then I just grabbed coffee and crawled back into bed. :D

You could always do what my mother did, look your teens in the eyes and tell them if they want all the trimmings, they know where the crap is stored, and you expect it to be returned to it's proper place once the holiday cheer has ended. Mom was a smart cookie that way . . . ;):D

Well darlin, I could do that, but they went through so many changes that I understand our silly little traditions being important to them. I've tried to keep constant every morsel that I could. Christmas decorations, or homemade bows on their presents, or cookie day are all small things that make them really happy and after everything that was taken from them, I need to make them happy even though they are both old enough now to take care of themselves.

I just like to bitch a little sometimes. ;)

Family traditions are important. I, too, gritched about the work it took to put everything out, but now that it's time to put it all away, I'm a little sad.

Am I the only traditionalist who waits for Epiphany before putting away the Christmas decorations? Twelve Days of Christmas and all that?

I got tired of all those maids a milking, what a fuckin mess, and the lords a leaping, and don't even get me started on the obnoxious partridge! The pears did poach up quite nicely, but that's beside the point.

I always wrench everything down New Year's Day--since we got it all up a little later than normal due to my work schedule, we did keep it up an extra day this year.

My parents used to wait until we were in bed Christmas Eve, and put up the tree so it just magically appeared on Christmas morning. Then after we went to bed that night, it would magically disappear again (unless one was smart enough to look out in the back alley with the trash before it was picked up.)

My parents and grandparents did a similar thing - we weren't allowed into the drawing room until they had decorated and lit the tree (with real apples and real candles and only wooden decoration, and masses of lametta and strictly NO tinsel) - all lights were switched off, and then someone rang a bell, and all the presents were heaped under the tree and it was just magical.
I will take a time-stamped photo. The tree goes nowhere until after January 6th. :)

I laughed. Thanks, Des. :rose: The post above it made me giggle, too.

(I am trying to decipher the latter part of your message. I have an idea, but it could my clear bias against one person.)
Oh, I wasn't trying to be deliberately mysterious - the one who claims to be 14 and post pictures of her stuffed animals.

Madam, I was deliberately misunderstanding you for hilarious comic effect. Ahem.

I believe you, and heartily congratulate you. Sometimes the old ways remain the best.

I've heard some of the voices on that thread--mine, while not bad--is not quite up to snuff.

I've been lurking on that thread, but I'm too chickenshit to post there.
