Spotlight on...JtohisPB

j, thank you for the answers to the questions i've already posed. a follow-up: if you don't mind my asking (and ignoring the question is always valid, remember): what did you used to do professionally, and why the desire to change?

i'm presently reinventing myself as well, so the question has some personal resonance for me, too. :>

1. Would this be the 5 celebs with whom one can have sex and not get in trouble? Why is this such an easy question to answer? Literally, names are flooding into my head. Let's go with: Christian Bale (been a fan for more than a decade), Colin Firth, Edward Norton, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Alan Rickman.

Oh my, yes!

oo, another question, j!

what forums, other than how to and how to cafe, do you frequent on lit? :>

I understand all of the first four and, frankly, I'd have a hard time saying no to Christian Bale, but Alan Rickman? Really?

I know this is J's thread, but speaking for myself - hell to the yeah! :D

What sort of music is on your Ipod?
What household chore do you loathe?
What is your guilty pleasure?
What's your fave pig out food?
When you are gone, for what would you like to best be remembered?

What is your guiltiest pleasure?

What is the most embarrassing thing that's ever happened to you?

i gotta confess, i share mistersir's bafflement re: rickman.

j, another question: what do you know now that you wish you could have known earlier in your life?

I concur. Are you a crunchy or creamy fan? What kind of jelly?

I'm a crunchy girl. (Someone -- ahem, Q-ey... will most likely make an embarrassing joke about that sentence. I really ought to remember where I am when I say stuff like that. :D ) With strawberry jam, on wheat bread. Oh man, now I want one!

Not me, I got nothing, at least you didn't say crusty.:p

Here in the UK it's a byproduct of ale making and called Marmite but regardless, I simply cannot live without it.

Basically the same yeasty goodness here, I mean, a beer by-product for breakfast, it doesn't get much better than that.

Look, no squares! Thanks. :rose:
You're welcome.:)

It's gotta be creamy for me. (Yes, that does sound like it will prompt some sort of joke). And either grape jelly or strawberry preserves. On Arnold or Aunt Millie's 100% whole wheat. Mmmmm.

*gasp* Blasphemy! ;) PB& J sandwiches rule!

The jury is still out for me.

i gotta confess, i share mistersir's bafflement re: rickman.

Bad Boy.

What gets your approval? Questioning Rickman or acknowledging that Batman's hot?

Neither. I was adding support to J's selection of Alan Rickman. I'm not usually a fan of the "bad boy", but there is something decidedly yummy about Mr. Rickman. I'd do him in a heartbeat. *nods*

Thanks sweetie. This has been such a fun thread to browse!!!

ETA: Anytime I get the chance to learn more about YOU has been fun, so I gotta consider the source.

i've worked in financial services (bank office manager, now an administrative assistant). it's fine, i'm good at it, and i do like my current position. but, i don't love it. i've wanted to teach since i was a small child; i just lost sight of it for a while.

given the current economic environment, who knows what will happen to my current industry. things are a-changing. but, then, schools are facing budget cuts and failing levies leading to teacher lay-offs. i can't know the best decision right now. but, i have a strong pull to be in the classroom and it would put me on a similar schedule with my children (which would make me endlessly happy).
thank you for such a full answer to that question, j! i've been in financial services in the past for about 4 years, for one of the major wall street firms. it's clear to me that a little more consolidation is likely, which means further job loss in the industry is almost inevitable. the market will eventually correct itself however: it always does.

do you have any friends who are teachers? b/c the chief complaint i keep hearing from teachers and instructors is that the regulations and sheer bulk of admnistrative crap stifles or even kills their joy for teaching.

BTW, I wouldn't kick Alan Rickman out of the bed for eating crackers! :D

Congratulations!!

Ignore my rudeness but I'm curious to know how old you were when you decided to change careers?

Was it part of your saturn's return? (apologies to the astrology non-believers)

And I apologise if I've completely overestimated your age too!

Congrats on your BA J! :rose:

Here's a must see for all Rickman fans. I am also a huge Rickman fan. His voice is just gorgeous and I remember watching films like Die Hard (whichever one he was in) and Robin Hood when I was younger. He was so hot in those films and his later stuff is just as good. The man is a legend.

But, yes, really, Alan Rickman. <snip> His movie roles are so varied; this man cannot be typecast.

Agreed. I loved him as Col. Brandon in Sense and Sensibility.

Way to go! Congrats! :rose:

Here's a must see for all Rickman fans.

I was hoping you were gonna link that. I forgot to bookmark it the first time around. That vid has inspired many a fantasy in my fevered little brain. *nods*
