Superbowl Thread

I'll be rooting for the Steelers on sheer principle. I really, really dislike the Packers - so that's that.

In my family, I'm the sports nut. The Mister could care less about sports, but he understands my desire to watch (and talk about) sports that he isn't necessarily interested in.

:D

Go PACKERS!!!!

Usually I don't really care for the Packers or Steelers (being a die hard Chiefs fan myself) but I will be rooting for the Packers tomorrow.

Neither. I am still in deep mourning about my Broncos and Tim Tebow (Jesus boy couldn't do shit). So I am pulling the gender card and being girly- who cares about the football? I'm there for the commercials.

I think your time in mourning is just starting if you're actually a Broncos fan.

It so is. But 1200 miles has a way of tempering the pain. Although with Elway having some power, and the new head coach, I am feeling hopeful.

While that beard is pretty awesome, I'm a diehard Packers fan. Have been since I was a kid, so I'm rooting green and gold the whole way. :D

Me thinks he'll need more help than tights that are one size too small and pointy shoes ...

I'll say straight off that I have only seen one American Football game ever, and that was last years superbowl (I stayed up til 3am to see it to see what all the hype was about). Well, I've seen one and that did me!!

Not much of a sports fan anyway, but if pushed then I'm a rugby girl ( all those FINE men, being the main attraction) with Gaelic Football as a second.

Anyway, I digress.

To all you Americans who'll be glued to it tomorrow. Enjoy! I know get togethers/ parties and the like are popular. Have a great time all and enjoy it to the full!:)

Rooting for the Packers and Rodgers, though won't be disappointed if Steelers win either.

My teams aren't playing anyway: Titans and Falcons.

The ridiculous theatre that is sport hype won't die after this, it just shifts focus to the next big thing.

And it might be the last pro football we have for some time if there's a lockout next season. So allow us some time to obsess with the theater while we have it, Vail.

its not like I have any say in the matter.

whats a lockout?

I read somewhere that the second largest 'eating holiday' according to grocery store sales is Superbowl, behind only Thanksgiving as number one.

I will be enjoying a different sort of bull sport. (Yes, I spelled it that way, not 'bowl', on purpose.)PBR Portland, Oregon

It's when the owners won't let the players in the building to play the game until the collective bargaining agreement is renegotiated. If they don't settle on a fair way to share the profits the NFL is raking in between the teams' owners and the players' salaries and benefits and what not they'll cancel next season and no football for us. They canceled a season in the 80's and baseball did it in the 90's over such labor disputes.

Curious, is it similar over there for Soccer?

There won't be any lockout, there's too much money at risk involved for both sides. All they're doing is posturing in their own version of a circus.
