"Tales of Leinyere" Story Event: Official Support Thread

Any thoughts on my suggestion about different epochs to write it? It might get a little messy with the whole timey-wimey connectivity, but....

I'm guessing most people will want to cluster around a common time, for crossover potential. But, I see different epochs as an opportunity for people to do their own thing, kind of like a time-island.

So far, I know three distinct points in time.

- 5-10,000 years ago: The destruction of the Ancients
- 500 years ago: The founding of Galtin's Port
- 5 years ago: The orc God-Queen perishes in a border skirmish without formally declaring her successor. Her six children fight for dominance, allowing the rest of Leinyere a moment of relative peace while the orcs settle their succession issue. (Dwarven) Traders make a killing selling arms, armor and supplies to all parties.

I might've missed it, but where is the Orcwar happening? Roughly? I'd imagine not too many Decent Godsfearing People would go there...

Not sure. Too busy digging caves into the cliff. :) If I had to choose, the orc homeland could be on the other side of the mountains, across from the Greywood. A wide rolling plain, dotted with a few temple-mounds and at least six orc tribes clawing each others' eyes out. If that's too close for comfort, move the orc lands further east, into the arid reaches. That would give them another reason for expansion because sand and dry grass isn't a healthy diet. :)

Sounds fine to me.

They do well in the cold, I hear. Or maybe that's trolls.

Gamina has a storyline involving the orcs, so it's probably best to put them (or at least one of the tribes) on the east coast near our islands. Ugh. She invites the worst riffraff, i swear. (jk)

Do orcs sail? If not, that could be why we settled on the islands after our lands were ravaged by the orc warparties.

The Anocots live in the Southern mountains. They might have an uneasy truce with the local Orcs or Trolls.

Edit - Just saw Orcs are in the east. Then Trolls would be in the mountains.

The Orc God-Queen, skewered by an Anocot spear. Catfolk Border Guard 1- Orcs 0. Like in real life, you better not piss off teh kittehs. Meow!

Good point. Retractable. Females paint them. Blood red is a popular colour.

Edit - makes sex with another species very dangerous. :D

Fuck sex - just random stretching can cause undue suffering. My tiger cat boy is hugging my thigh right now and depending on his dream state, his claws dig DEEP. Still, an important detail for the story I'm cooking up.

Lol... Don't I know it. Our old Tom used to stretch and hold up one paw of claws in front of our 50kg dog. "Don't fuck with me kid. You may be bigger, but I'll shred you without any hesitation."

Keep me posted with any new Anocot details. I'll make sure I follow your lead.

FWIW, I'm thinking my Glladin, the male Anocot, is like an upright black panther.

Shavri, my alchemist's apprentice, is a slender shorthair with red fur. White/blonde striping runs parallel to her spine and she has blonde fur over her breasts and stomach. Her left hand is blonde, the rest of her limbs red with varying stripes. She has a tuft at the end of her tail. Golden eyes. A few rings in her ears and a nipple piercing she got for making it halfway through the alchemist training. She get the other once she is a fully-fledged alchemist.

Now, are only the males allowed to grow out their mane? Or can Shavri have a long dreadlocked ponytail?

I wasn't thinking about manes, but why not? Glladin can have his fur cropped short because he likes the sleek look.

Shavri would look good in dreadlocks.😊

I added some shit to the Notes doc, probably my only contributions there; of other than minor geographical interest are a God of Peace and a Goddess of War, who don't get along very well and would really benefit from some relationship therapy. I included a few alternate names for them; please feel free to add as needed.

Colloquially, she's known as The Whore and he's known as The Cuck.

Let me flip that a little bit - on the West Coast they're brother and sister and both gods of war, but he's the god of "just war" and she's the goddess of "conquest."

And they both love to hate each other. As in..."love" to hate each other. Hell, the Greek Gods did it all the time.

Does that work? It's a case of "one pantheon, many myths."

Okay, feels like this thread is growing faster than I'm reading it, so I'll just stop here at the end to say that I think this is a fun idea, and I'll try to contribute something. I'm not so interested in the big picture, so it'll probably be some small human (or orc) story situated somewhere, somewhen, around there :) I'll let you know when I find out what it will be.

Ditto; the pace of this thread is clogging up my email. Will be marinating to see if something comes up that I may could use.

If no one has claimed it on the map yet, I'd like to stake out that south-eastern lobe of arctic mountains as the Dwarven kingdom of "Podl'adom" and the green swath just to the north of it as the Elvin kingdom of "Grennskogur".

There's a lot to follow, and I may have missed someone's claim. If those regions are still free, I'd like to get them on the map.

Ok, and the Anocots will be in the south west. Trolls also roam the area, but aren’t a serious threat anymore.

I like the peace/war dichotomy as an analogue to a bad marriage. I’d say that as long as that analogue is preserved, I’m good.

But like you say, there’s plenty of room for twists and turns.

Done. Let me know if you'd like them moved.

Would you like more trees in Grennskogur? I hear elves like trees...

I added a Scale and Legend to the map. It seemed like it was getting enough info to need it. Let me know if you have suggestions about them. I believe this would make the continent aabbboooouuutttt 5000 miles across, or 8000-ish km

Edit: Also, please let me know if I converted to km incorrectly. Preferably along with the correct conversions.
