Thanksgiving Day Buffet! 2016

Is there anything unspoken for yet? I'd love to join you and I'm a pretty good cook, if I do say so myself.

I can't carve a turkey worth shit, though. So I'm glad someone else is doing that.

Hi BB, just bringing your hot self is fine by me, but if you want to bring something we could probably use more veggies. How about some sort of corn dish and or maybe some sweet potatoes? BFG bought a ton of sweet potatoes but I think it will be mostly used for pies. :)

Hooray! Pies are hard...best left to others. :)

How about I bring wine? Pretty sure I can't screw that up.

Yes, a lit get together needs lots of wine. Awesome!!!

I can bring the beer and wine...
Also, how about some nuts for appetizer?

Oh, and I make this awesome creamed spinach ... if you want.

Or whatever else!

Beer and wine is great. Nuts would be good too. Can you also get red solo cups? I have the beer pong table set up

I'll be there... need a keg?

Keg is awesome. I still have my funnel from college.... we will set it up in the basement.

I'm bringing the cheesecakes!!!!!!

I'll make a cranberry one that is my favorite and I have a new recipe I found for an apple pie one. Hope you don't mind if I add caramel to it!
As BFG knows, I am crazy about cranberries. Cranberry cheesecake... I'm in heaven.

I am loving all this talk of food, can we start a petition to get Thanksgiving in the UK?
with the recent brexit, it's has a better chance than ever.

Denny

Yes there is that....any recommendations as to the best move to destination?
Our daughter in law moved here to the mid west.
But for someone from Blackpoole that's a big improvement.
Give her a box of wine and we don't need any turkey.

I just set up the beer pong table in the basement. Looking forward to the thanksgiving tournament.

Oh. I'm also bringing my world famous stuffed mushroom caps. Half traditional, but I'll make the ones stuffed with crab meat as well.

It's not Thanksgiving without Tamales ...

I can make up a batch of spiced nuts and maybe nut brittle

as an appetizer while the food is cooking, my mom always served carrot sticks and celery sticks with blue cheese dressing. It's simple and most people like it.
Additionally, sesame sticks are good, but too good. people scarf them down and leave no room for the real fixings.

For veggies:
  • brussel sprouts in a white sauce
  • String beans with a thin layer of French's fried onions on top
  • mashed sweet potatoes with marshmallow crisped on top
  • Creamed Spinach
  • Mashed potatoes (with lumps)
  • creamed onions
  • turnips

personal favorites:
  • southern cornbread (light and fluffy)
  • sweetcorn with diced red peppers
  • stuffing

For dessert:
  • Pecan Pie
  • Apple pie a la mode

I'm coming to YOUR house ...

I love how you stated "lumps" in your mashed potatoes!!!

:D

This thread is making me way too hungry!! Everything sounds good! I want to taste MsT's tamales. I bet they are really good.

How else can you have mashed potatoes ...without the lumps?!?

personally, I like my turkey dry and not moist. This contraired with most other people in the house so my portions were usually left in the oven for an extra 15 minutes.
Also, I am not fond of gravy. Thankfully, it was put to the side.

Now, will that be beer or cranberry juice, dear?

I had to laugh at the 'lump' - my family prefers them with lumps, too, so they are always hand-mashed.

Good grief, we're going to be eating for daaaayyyys! But I may bring something else for fitdaddy, with his cranberry fetish - brie covered in cranberry chipotle sauce, baked inside a puff pastry crust 'til it's all hot and melty - sooooo good!
