Thanksgiving Day Buffet! 2016

Every year we have things set aside for writing what we are thankful for this past year. At the dinner table, we share them. I keep them from year to year in a special book, so we can look back - it's a great encouragement when things are looking grim.

I this would be a great jar to make for our guests and they can write something to put in the jar. Maybe we'll pass it at the dinner table, and someone can pick one to read. If your hand doesn't get stuck in the jar, that is! LOL

If we do this after the beer pong tournament, it is going to be a disaster. Lmao.

Farawyn wasn't sure she could stop by Thursday, so she made these delicious pies and brought them by for us to enjoy!

Thank you, Farawyn!!! :rose:

I'm going to deep fry a turkey this year. I've never tried it before and will be using an Alton Brown recipe from the Food Network. I am going to soak it in a salt and sugar brine prior to frying.

For leftovers, check this recipe out from my favorite food blog. I posted it somewhere else last week - it takes the day after to a whole 'nother level.

That's awesome, AF. So after our Lit-sgiving, and the subsequent best slumber party EVER,, you can make us these for breakfast. I'll grab an apron and help.

Good morning, everyone!

How's the preparations going at your house? Since I'm only doing a partial meal, and my sister in law the other, things are running smoothly. So far. I still haven't made sure I have all the ingredients for the sweet potato casserole...my mother said I did, but... ... well, there have been times she wasn't right. I know, I know...mothers are always right. Except on occasion!

So, here I go, into the kitchen to make certain, absolutely certain, that there is enough of everything to make this thing up.
