The 2026 [lit] 750 Word Project Support Thread

Oh man, I haven't tried to write flash ficiton in forever. Now I gotta noodle on what to write.

I’ve got a loving wife one I’m working on. If anyone wants to give feedback just send me a message.

I’ve had a lot going on recently and had little time to write and less time to make real progress but I was able to knock out a 750 word story on my phone while on a trip. Of course, I’m 908 words into my 750 word story so we’ll see if it ever gets done.

Happy writing to all!

RPing with a friend tonight got the writing muses to wake up and I'm making a bit of progress on my entry. Up to ~500 words. It's all planned out except for the ending which I have no idea what to do with...

Actually, as I type that, an idea comes to mind.

And Mistress Mindy is written and ready. It is really going to frustrate the readers because it is already frustrating me. It would make a very yummy full story and I will likely have to write it.

10 pages already? :)

I'm glad that the 750 challenge is early in the year I can use it as a motivator to write a quick story to help me shake something loose. Probably going to be a tale of exibitionism I think. A cat burglar perhaps?

Mine's down to 750 words, but I'll probably rewrite a sentence here and a sentence there and have to edit down from 850+ words again.

Go for it. I stretched a 750 story into a "full story" that I stretched into a full novel.
I agree. I took the 750-word Perchance, told from the man's perspective, and continued it into a full novella (44K words) from the woman's perspective in A Wedding in Wottfordshire. AWiW was much better (and the ratings and comments reflect that) but it's not a two-minute read either, so both have their place.

It's fun when you start paring down sentences and end up with 15 extra words to play with.
I had one story where every change I made altered the word count by 3 or 4 words, so I kept flip-flopping between too short and too long.

I've got to catch up to you guys! I'm still working on my Valentines day story.

I feel your pain friends, Done with draft 1 of my cat burglar story but 200 words need to go. What to keep :)

~670 words.

I hate that I thought of a way to end this that would allow for a sequel. This could still be a stand-alone story, but I won't cheap out and do it because it defeats the whole "no chapters" thing in spirit, I think. So a different ending it'll have to be.
