The 50 Plus Cafe, Pub, All-Nite Greasy Spoon and Dive Bar

I've just not had to do these things. They were taken care of by my husband. Now I do have to do them and I am unconsciously incompetent (I don't know what I don't know.).
I'm Sorry. (New here, I'm just picking up on some of the details about a few of you...)

Division of labor is a wonderful thing, until you have to do it all. I know there are A LOT of things I'd be lost doing without my wife.

I do try to include her on some tasks so she has an idea of what gets done maintenance wise, but I don't think she absorbs it.
(For the record, she's WAY smarter than me, so I'm not implying anything there. It's just her aptitude exists in other areas...)

We could probably volunteer a virtual slap on the..., if needed! LOL.

Kidding aside, there have got to be books for some of this stuff. The "Operators and Owners" manuals cover some of it. The problem is some of this stuff is getting more complicated, and they don't always give the 'secret decoder ring' away in the manual. So, don't feel bad about having to call someone. Even I have to call them sometimes.

For example. When the water heater quit, it was a safety sensor. Reading the manual told me the flashing light meant this sensor tripped. Found a sensor locally, and replaced it. Still flashing. I had to call my HVAC guy, who told me over the phone how to reset the controller. That information is NOT in the manual anywhere. Flip the power switch off, wait 20 seconds, then flip it on, and turn the temperature setting knob Hi-Low-Hi-Low-... 7 times. Do it twice.
They make this stuff hard to find, or intentionally hidden sometimes.

It's been snowing for an hour now...

I know I am forgetting a few others. But chime in so we know ya.

Thanks for your service to this great nation. And to all of my brothers and sisters who served.

Thanks to you Wonderer. I want to thank all the veterans out there and I want to remember all those we have lost. I am older than most here and i recall as a child the Veterans would put on their uniforms and march to the graveyards in and around town and fire a volley over the graves of those who had passed. I am not sure when that practice stopped, it was long ago. Most of those guys have passed too. Back then there was the American Legion, Amvets and VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars).

On the 11th hour, of the 11th day, of the 11th month…The big guns were silenced. 🇺🇸

Everyone have a nice Veteran’s Day. Wonderer, enjoy your day my brother. Some good games on yesterday. Got to spend the day in lovely Des Moines. Back to Texas today. Weather was perfect in the Midwest!

The MZ today reflects the holiday. Eddie, Doughboys, and Black Jack. (I have a personal connection to Black Jack…one day I may post the pic and relay the story…)

In the UK it’s known as Remembrance
Day. And if anyone has ever served their nation, a salute to you.

I knew I left a couple off of my original post. I salute my brothers BlaskSatinKnight and subdueme13 also. 🇺🇸
Thanks for the reminder Wonderer!

Yesterday was our Remembrance Sunday so a long one for me as I arrange our services recognising those who have served but particularly our fallen. The day started with a church service at 09.45 then at our war memorial for wreath laying and two minutes silence. We had about sixty people there. Wreaths were laid by a veteran, our primary school kids and our Local Council

I had time for lunch then we had our sunset service at the Quay in the village. It was a beautiful evening and we were led by a junior piper about 13 years old. The names of our fallen were read by the head of our life boat service and the beacon was lit at sunset by our junior football team. It was another good turn out with about fifty people present.

Now I can relax it’s been a long week.

Would love to hear the story about blackjack Pershing sometime.

Love that picture of Eddie Rickenbacker!

Omg.... snow?

Yeah. I am sort of afraid of things that can blow up and kill me

I have very limited patience or time for companies that make things hard to fix.

I know things are only gonna increase in complexity. It drives me crazy!

We have a memorial day service with an honor guard every year in our village. The service organization i belong too buys and places flags on the graves.
