Been a good Tuesday. The nutbags mostly left me alone, which is a nice change.
Too late for coffee. I'll grab a fresh bucket in about 7 hours.

The goslings are starting their flight practice. All five have survived this far.
After painting the front of my house this morning, I went to the Red Lion, my local pub, to have a pint or two. The Olympic women's rugby competitions played on the screens in the empty pub.
I'd never seen women's rugby, and this is the first time I've ever wished I were about 50 years younger. The raw power and physicality was something to behold. Based on purely stereotypical attributes, they would never be interested in a male scrum buddy, but I have taken extensive notes for another story.

I wonder if @NaokoSmith still comes around. She was a professional rugby player, and she would be a great resource, if you could get her time. Last I heard, she was teaching in Wales.

Stayed up and watched the sevens medal matches. Australia got rolled by Canada. That's very sad.

It's rugby! You have to be at least hazed just to get on the field. and probably 100% maggotted to last a full game

I regained access to my retirement account, and I feel better. The new site had one thing the old one didn't -- an estimate of monthly income from the investments. I don't know how they made the estimate, but It seemed like more than enough until my wife volunteered to spend it.
I saw the US v New Zealand match, and no one looked like her.
The implication of that photo is not what I had in mind for a story either.

If you get a chance, watch one of the Japanese matches. They are not sumo sized and rely on their speed. The women ripped Brazil to shreds by literally running rings around them.

Just to be clear, my S.O.'s mother is entering late-stage dementia. Up to now, she's been able to take care of herself but now she's slipping to the point that we have to switch off being with her during the day to make sure she takes her medicine and eats. We can still leave her alone at night. It is stressing us out but it is much worse for my S.O. I've known her for thirty years and the decline is scary. I can only imagine how my S.O. feels about it...
