The AH Coffee Shop and Reading Room 09

Cool gray early morning (Thank you, Daylight Savings Time) so a little sleepy. BP is moderating downward and I'm feeling pretty good.

There's fresh coffee and hot water for tea. There are snacks on the counter and soft drinks in the 'fridge. If I get ambitions, I may make a cheesecake later today.

I'll be over in the corner working on my story. I actually got some writing (not a lot) done this morning so there's hope yet that I'll eventually publish a story. Hopefully, it'll be worth the wait for my readers. I did notice that there weren't a lot of plot bunnies underfoot this morning. Did someone let them out?

Wake up sleepy heads! Welcome to Daylight Savings Time.

Now that the evenings will have light longer, I'll take the cover off the grill and give it a little cleaning.

I'm almost ready, for the first time in more than a year and a half, to forge ahead on The Girl in the Photograph. It feels like it's been longer than that.

'Almost' because I realized in rewriting the story that I need to switch a secondary character from sympathetic to not sympathetic before I go on, and that I need to re-imagine parts of the story going forward. The original synopsis had the story start on Monday and end on the next Monday. The time frame needs to stretch, but the actual story probably won't change much.

I also need to research the tea ceremony and traditional Japanese meals (not sushi).

I like Daylight savings time today. My cat, who gets me up for breakfast at sunrise, got me up an hour later, according to my clock.

And, according to my body, I get to go to bed an hour early tonight. What's not to like?

I miss the nice early sunrises.

My shadow lurks everywhere I go.

I post on a thread, it posts, I leave.

I read a thread I think about posting on. It has already been there. I move on.

I see the glow in the east that precedes the rising of the sun. No rain forecast for today so maybe I'll get out and start prepping for the new garden season. My BP is still moderating so I should be able to.

I've got a fresh pot of coffee brewing and the teapot is hot. There are snacks on the counter a a few pieces of cheesecake left over if anyone wants some.

I got some more words down on paper but I'm still torn between writing the story in 3P or 1P. I just can't seem to find the right voice to write my story in. I may have to set it aside and work on my series story for the Crime and Punishment Story Event.

after 8 am here, and still dark. This is why i am leery about Daylight Saving Time- it is no-ice in syummer when the extra evening hour facilitates a baseball game (or your equivalent pleasure), but for now, the mornig people like me suffer...
and we still have so much snow on the ground (and in the forecast) that gardening is just a hilarious concept.

still stalled on writing.

Cheesecake? Did somebody say 'cheesecake'? You devil, CK!

New doctor this morning. This one is going to be unpleasant. The nature of the visit, not necessarily the doctor. Will find that part out soon enough.

3000 words into another swinger story, inspired by running into a casual acquaintance after lunch on Friday. We know him as a barfly, so story development got a bit of a kickstart.

I stumbled a little on my WIP. I didn't realized that when I changed the MMC's occupation I also added stuff to the story, and the original climax ended up a long way from the end. I didn't write yesterday. Instead, I fretted about needing to change everything yet again.

This morning, I think I see a clearer path.

Well, it looks like my newest short story is going to be competing with my oldest short story for least popular amongst my stories.
I hate when that happens! I thought Flying Monkey was going to knock 'em dead for the Halloween contest.

Nope! I'm the one that got knocked dead.

Everyday when I sit down to write, I recite the Literotica Mantra: NO MORE LW... NO MORE LW... NO MORE LW...

I thought that was a good story.

In the case of these two stories though, I think people just didn't like the ending. 😅 But since the downvoters never comment I'll never know for sure.

Yeah, damn, Rhodes Scholars didn't catch the security cam, cover their faces, or calculate that $3.45 a pound and 5 pounds of copper translate to $17.25. According to the time code, it took them only 40 minutes, but still, they aren't going to be able to afford a lawyer, because sure as shit, they're already in custody. They hit five houses near us, counting ours, so that's $86.25. They'd be better off working for Starbucks. The work is easier, and you aren't, you know, stuck in jail waiting for the arraignment.
Down here that's a hangin' offense!

There are some aspects of the Sharia legal system I fully agree with...

Good morning everyone! It's going to be another warm day wit less sun and rain on the way. My BP was up a little this morning but not serious. Got another mystery vote on one of my stories (no reads for three consecutive days but a "5" vote showed up in this morning's stats download). I guess it could be a bug in the system.

Anyways, there's fresh coffee brewing and the teapot is ready for those who want a cuppa. There are snacks on the counter and I see the cheesecake disappeared so I guess I'll have to make another one soon. I'm thinking I'll make a decadent chocolate cheesecake next time ...

I'll be over in the corner working on my story and fending off the plot bunnies. I hope to get some more words down today, but I'm still not happy with how the story in my head is translating to words on paper. It's frustrating, so I may have to switch to something else just to see if I can resolve it subconsciously while doing something else.

I think you only get a view when they start reading, but if it took several days to finish, you would see that kind of gap.

I (and I think, Rusty) tested when views were counted and found that they were counted when the first page was opened. Theoretically, if someone bookmarked where they were in the story (or just left it open) several days ago, then started reading where they left off, they could vote without apparently registering a view. The view would actually have been registered days ago.

Any cheese cake is decadent.

I remember that happening to me. I had to re-imagine the narrator so their voice worked.
