The AH Coffee Shop and Reading Room 09

I don't think I could ever handle contacts. I'm shuddering just thinking about them. No. Just No. Don't muck with my eyes. That includes me.

So far, I haven't had the drama. The I can't get them in my eye right, the damn things getting knocked out, the grain of microscopic dirt, lint, sand between eyelid and contact that makes you feel as if you have an ant's biting from the inside. My Dad says, "Just wait, that's coming."

Sigh, it's a remake of a remake of something that never happened in the original story. Think Boris and Elsa, Sting, Clancy Brown, and Jennifer Beals. Think Mary Wollstonecraft Shelly. Come on, you can do it, put the pieces together, and just watch it when it's free and streaming!
Beatrix Kiddo? Black Mamba? that Bride? Done with killing Bill and looking for Curley, Larry or Moe?

Oh THAT BRIDE! But it's in color! There should be a rule, any movie that claims to be gothic must be filmed in Black and White. It's more artistically challenging.

Christian Bale has never looked better.

I'm sorry, but The Bride was done best by Mel Brooks in Young Frankenstein.

Oh, I disagree, you simply put neo in front of gothic when it's in color, same as you do for noir. NeoGothic, NeoNior, NeoHorror, NeoNarcissistic, NeoNazi, NeoTrumpism, NeoEpstein-NeoPedophile, NeoAuthorHangoutCoffeeShopism.

The sun is shining and it's 65 degrees for the low! We're expecting some rain later today but that's okay. My BP is staying moderated so I'm really happy about that.

I've got a fresh pot of coffee brewing and the teapot is boiling so you can have a cuppa. There's a variety of snacks on the counter for consumption. I tossed some coal down into the basement for the dragon but I'm sure he's missing H_P.

I'll be over in the corner trying to put words to paper. I don't think I've lost the urge to write, but I am working through what kind of stories I want to write. Switching to 3P has made me stop and think about how I want to present the reason for the story. I do want to thank @old_prof for looking at my story and giving me some advice on writing in 3P. I will finish it -- I'm just processing at the moment.

I found an author today. She has 50 stories published, most of them with red H, and a couple hundred followers.

She also wrote in the author bio that she’s a virgin.

‘Write what you know’ my ass.
Some minds are fertile ground, and some idioms are nonsensical. I've used 'my ass' much of my life, but it seems like one of those.

This morning should be our temperature nadir, at least for awhile. Pretty soon I'll start leaving the amaryllis out and only moving them in when the temps dip. That'll give me room inside to start green peppers, green chiles, jalapenos and tomatoes in nursery pots. Mowed the lawn yesterday. I'll prune roses today, but I'm wearing a brace for my left thumb. It's gotten a little too much use lately.

I'm about a paragraph from the end of the section in my WIP that I had to rewrite. With that done, I'll be exploring new territory.

Good morning all! May your day be as sunny as the weather here.

I cannot boast of gardening however. Maybe in late May. But much of the snow has melted, which is actually a bit worrying as we really need a couple of years of major snowpack in the mountains to rebuild the water sources. One can practically watch the glaciers retreating...

Whoo hoo!
My April Fools story goes live tomorrow. 10k words, 2 days to write, one day of playing 'Don't touch it there!' with my editor, and only one day to hatch. Laurel and her army of bots are getting quicker.

I've been in a writing frenzy lately, cranking them out faster and (according to Madam Beta/Edit) better. I'm not sure what she means by better, I think she means fewer grammatical errors to embarrass me. Personally I despise April Fool's Day. A day spent celebrating dishonesty? (Insert ANY political pun here) When I was a kid the big April Fools day "prank" was to tell a complete lie, followed by "Happy April Fool's day!" I never understood that as a kid, I was just some short, klutzy, working class nerd, why waste the energy to lie to me? But if that's all it takes to write an April Fools day story, hell, I can do that.
There's an anime that I just love, it's called "Stop Toying With Me Miss Nagatoro" It's about a cute high school freshman girl who meets a klutzy, nerdy junior boy. Because he's one grade above her (there's no sophomores in Japan) that makes him her senpai. A senpai mentors and guides the lower grade students but Miss Nagatoro spends all her free time teasing and tormenting her senpai. The sweet part is that there's real affection between them, and if anyone else tried to tease HER senpai, Miss Nagatoro will show them what she can do as a black belt.

I elevated senpai to a teacher in community college and his tormenter is his student. In this case he's not senpai but sensei. (like a senpai but with real power.) It's a colligate level love story inspired by that anime and son-of-a-gun, Japanese immigrants to the US enjoy April Fools also.

Stop Toying With Me Miss Yamanaka goes live tomorrow!

Rough weather a bit south of me yesterday. A tornado cell with wind gusts up to 150 mph caused major damage and killed four people. One of the photos showed it going over a frozen lake, which was both beautiful and scary looking at the same time.

I saw the headline on a news site I happened to be browsing. Photo they had was the façade of a Menards all torn-up to smithereens.

Unusual to have fatalities these days, with all the warning systems and everything. Tragic.

The one in 3 rivers Michigan? Dude, that was hit by a tornado! Way to bury the lede.

Just checked the forecast. The weather service thinks we have a 50/50 chance of precipitation on both Monday and Tuesday. Looked at a little more detail, and it's a 50/50 chance of 0.05 inches of rain spread over a two-day period. I'm not going to change my watering schedule.

Hit 37c here today. Down to 25 tomorrow.

Supposed to have a Mexican bake for dinner, but went for a pizza from our favourite place instead. Too hot.
