Boy could I use your help. I'm going to have to tear a whole wall out that had a moisture problem. I did all the footer and framing in several remodels i've done on my own homes. But I cheated by using paneling before. This one is going to be drywall. I am lousy with the spakling on the seams:(

Oh and thanks for asking. The doctors want a catscan every ninety days to see where the cancer shows up next, but the last one was negative so it's on to November:confused:
Get a 4' drywall tape knife and use the reqular drywall mud. Don't get the powders that set in 20, 45, etc minutes, they are great for quick repairs, but if you don't know what your doing, they create more headaches then they are worth. They set quickly and are hard to sand down to a good finish, so if you make a mistake, its tough to sand it out. If you use standard drywall joint compound, it takes alot longer for it to dry, but if you screw it up, it can always be sanded out fairly easy and can be reskimmed if need be. And don't forget the tape for the seams, and use the 3m sanding sponges to sand with, they don't chew up the paper face on the drywall like sandpaper does. Good luck with the project, and if you need some help, feel free to PM me and I will help out as much as can .

Catscan+cancer= negative is always a positive. MrsJ and both send our best wishes to you.

Oh really? I also did finishing work....among other things...I did acoustical ceilings, dry wall, dry wall finishing, painting (especially since all the guys hated painting), and numerous other odds and ends ;) :D

Guess we also have that in common, other than guiding MrsJ...~weg~ :catroar:
I knew that about you. As for guiding MrsJ, we can do that together. ;)

My sister just moved to Palm City this past weekend...she is now boarding up for Ernesto :(

I am very worried...she just found out she is expecting and is having problems ....

I told her how to prepare (which she listened to and has done) and what to do in case of tornados (they have had numerous warnings effective til tomorrow night) and/or what to do if they get hit bad by the storm/hurricane. I am half way tempted to head down there...if I didn't have my brother to care for, I would have already been there for her.

We are supposed to get effects from it come mid week, then Joe will be getting it....that is if she doesn't change her mind...lol (I know it is a male name but storms are always women!) :catroar: We are tough cookies! :p :D
We are going to get 3-6 inches of rain, but that is it. Some fairly high wind gust, but not that bad.
I hope your sister didn't get beat up too bad ;)

Well I hope everyone is alright out there.

I suppose if things get too bad and you want a break you could come have some fun on the warm, DRY West coast for awhile.

Isn't David out there pounding Cali somewhere?
We gettting some steady rain and a few wind gusts, but that's it. It just sucks that the cloud cover is blocking the Direct tv reception.
I did catch the weather before the tv went blank, and it looks like EB is really getting hit with alot of rain and fairly high winds.

Sorry been away got the bike in just in time for the all the rain. LOVE it. Or should I say loved it. I am so pissed right now.

I ride home last night in the wind and rain but need soda and smokes to get through the night. SO I wait and stop at the 7-11 which is virtually in my Apt. parking lot. In fact the easiest way is to pull in the parking lot down at the end and just walk the 100 yards or so there. Then go to where you need to go in the complex. So I am soaked at this point even through the rain gear and I ease into a parking space parrallel behind a Verizon van. Run in 7-11 do my thang and run out. Nodded to the Verizon man as he is coming around from behind his vehicle and getting in his van. Really noticed him because he had GI issue gortex and no patches. Anway, hop on the hog. First of all she doesn't just start quite right. Then I turn her around and it does not feel right. However, I was parked on some pretty big twigs and was doing a 180 degree turn around. Thought well maybe. But I get 20 yards up the parking lot going at parking lot speed and it just aint right. I stop and look and low and behold my front fender is crashed in. I start to turn off the bike and park it right there to catch the Verizon dude but he literall tears out of the space. So I eased into a space in front of my building. Get it on the jiffy stand correctly and go to where the Verizon man should come out so I can stop him. Thinking still just maybe he did not know. However, he never comes out. So I look and look and then on the side street that you can only get by going directly past me OR through a construction site that says do not enter and there he is. He had gone through the construction site. Of course I call 9-1-1 then call Verizon and the nice lady hunts down the head service dude for the area and they are investigating. Which on top of it since the sky is falling totally messes up my cell that is my only phone. It works kind of right now but had to get someone to call the insurance via instant messenger last night and relay it to the company.

So I am totally pissed off. Not that he hit me. That does hurt bad. But so pissed that he did not have the fraking balls to say look dude I am sooo sorry and let us call the PD. M.F. just let me pull away knowing full well he just messed up my bike.

I really hope it is just a fender. That can be replaced fairly simply but worried it messed it up because I was careful enough to lock it down and he hit it pretty good 'cause I was far enough behind him on purpose so I could easily do my 180. It was near dark and too rainy to take a real close look. PD and I did with a little closer inspection with a flashlight but I did not see anything else. Only the morning light will tell, eh. Wish me luck. And if anyone knows anyone who knows people at my local Verizon service place please holler at me 'cause I would rather find out who he is and turn him in rather than hunt him down like I will do if I do not or they do not find out. 'Cause I find him and no telling what this big 6'6" 300 lb "biker" might do to him.

That sucks. I was an insurance adjuster for a few years, but I don't have any clue how to track that info down. Most companies with large fleets are pretty quick to settle small claims, they don't want the publicity. And it happens alot.

Well that is good to know. The update seems to be a lot worse than I had hoped. Got some damage to the front suspension including a small crack at the front axle nut. Also possible a bent rim and tire damage.

Damn.
All I can say is call the Verizon office and ask for the claims dept, and explain it to them. Alot of times the feild guys will try to hide an incident like that as it goes against their safety record, so if the field guy doesn't cooperate, you may get a run around from Verizon. If that happens, turn over to your insurance company as a collision claim. You will have to pay your deductable, but the company has subregation specilist that will get insurance company's money back, and when they get thier money, you will get your deductable back.
