Well, I said I was going to Delvarvae Bike Week come Hell or High Water, well we got a little of both, a normal 3hr trip took 5 because of the rain and flooded roads. And then we went through Hell on Saturday. It was still raining Saturday, so we decided to take the 4x4 out on the beach since the lot was closed and there was no where to park at the event grounds. Well the truck overheated on the beach, we limped off, and changed the oil and coolant.
We then got a call from a couple we meet last year that said come stay with us so you don't have to drive an hour back to your hotel, and lets party. Well they got into a fight and we ended up leaving, after having a few cocktails. We sensed tension between them and stopped drinking in the bar, chilled in the parking lot for about an hour, and got coffee and drove back to Chincategue Island, about an hour south. As we were going over the causeway, we saw a lone female that had run out of gas, on a one lane each direction, with no shoulder road. We agreed to push her the half mile to a pullover so she would be off the road. Well we had a cop pull up behind us just as we got to the pullover.
You have to understand that this pullover is just before a drawbridge going onto the island. I stopped to let her coast into the pullover area, she didn't. I pulled into the pullover, thinking she would slow and pull over, but she tried to coast over the drawbridge. Thats when the lights on the cop car came on.
Well after the copst put her through the whole DUI testing and handcuffing her etc, the let us go. But not before they put the fear of DUI charges against me.
It turned out that the women we were helping was the cops next door neighbor and they thanked me for trying to help, arrested her for a DWI, and left the car in the pulloff instead of towing it away. They told me that pushing a car down the road is considered "reckless driving, worth 12 points and automatic suppension of license", but due to unique road conditions, they were glad that I was trying to get her to safe area, and they really don't enforce that law in that area. It was just when she didn't pull over in the pullover area and started over the bridge that they decided enough was enough and hit the lights. That was Sat. night, and the car was still sitting there when we left at 1:30 this afternoon. (Monday)
But enough of the Hell and High Water. Sunday and Monday morning where beautiful, and we got some great beach time and ride time in. We didn't make it back to the event grounds on Sunday, but had a great ride exploring a bunch of coastal roads and towns. Pics to follow.

We hope everyone had a good weekend and stayed safe.

Sounds like quite the adventure. Sorry I missed bike week.... :( I went back home to Arkansas instead. My son's 5th was last week so I decided it was time for some daddy time.

Being a dad should always the first priority. Given the weather and the mud, they closed the event grounds to vehicular traffic, including bikes, so the weekend was sort of a wash out. There were plenty of different events being held around the area, so there was plenty to do, but the rain didn't really clear out until late Sat. afternoon. Going to see your son was probably much more fulfilling.
I hope everything went well, and you had a great time being daddy. :)

Harley joke for ya....

The inventor of the Harley-Davidson motorcycle, Arthur Davidson, died and went to heaven.

At the gates, St. Peter told Arthur "Since you've been such a good man and your motorcycles have changed the world, your reward is, you can hang out with anyone you want to in heaven."

Arthur thought about it for a minute and then said, "I want to hang out with God."

St. Peter took Arthur to the Throne Room, and introduced him to God.

God recognized Arthur and commented, "Okay, so you were the one who invented the Harley-Davidson motorcycle?"

Arthur said, "Yeah, that's me...."

God commented: "Well, what's the big deal in inventing something that's pretty unstable, makes noise, causes pollution and can't run without a road?

Arthur was apparently embarrassed, but finally spoke, "Excuse me, but aren't you the inventor of woman?"

God said, " Ah, yes."

"Well ," said Arthur, "professional to professional, you have some major design flaws in your invention:
1. There's too much inconsistency in the front- end protrusion
2. It chatters constantly at high speeds
3. Most rear ends are too soft and wobble too much
4. The intake is placed way too close to the exhaust
5. The maintenance costs are outrageous!!!!

"Hmmmmm, you may have some good points there," replied God, "hold on."

God went to his Celestial supercomputer, typed in a few words and waited for the results. The computer printed out a slip of paper and God read it.

"Well, it may be true that my invention is flawed," God said to Arthur, "but according to these numbers, more men are riding my invention than yours."

At times yes, but this week has been VERY busy...and its not done yet.

I'm trying to get into the swing of things, but it isn't as easy as I thought it would be.

Well there was one piece, that I hope turns out, that was just amazing. It was a sculpture of a horse that was made to look like it was done in grapevines, but was actually done in cast bronze and had a patena that looked just like bark! It was absolutely incredible.
So you obviously survived the very busy week... things smoothing out now or is it the hectic life going to continue for the rest of the semester?!?!? Did your photos turn out all right?

I'm really looking forward to it this year, I need the break. We decided to stay outside of town this year, so we won't be party as hard as we did last year, but that is a good thing this year. My work didn't let me borrow against my remaining vacation time, so we don't have the entire week like we did last year, so we decided to stay at MrsJ grandfathers beach house, which is about an hour south of Ocean City, so we won't be hitting the bars and staying up till 4 am like we did last year. This year is just to chill. And that's a good thing.
I hope R/L stays good for you, and we do miss you when you're not around.

Maybe it was a good thing that you didn't have the entire week. You'd have helped out more folks and put yourself at risk, eh?! *grin* You are a serious Sweetie and give bikers a damn good name and reputation, Joe! Good on you!
How was the beach house? Get some nice bike shots? Girly shots?!?!?

Going to get on the bike at lunch... i don't give a rat's ass that it's only 56 degrees... i need my bike! Better Days, y'all!

Lesson learned, next time if the person doesn't get in the car and take the ride to help, I'm moving on. We were in an area with no cell phone service, so I couldn't even call for help. But I made it home and didn't end up in jail, so its all good.
We are still trying to figure out what to do next year and will probally stay local again since I am going to buy a new windshield and make some other modes that will make the bike a little more comfortable for those long distance tours.

God would have had a hard proving that at the show this weekend :D

If we had been there all week, we wouldn't have left the island at night and would have walked the 400 to 800 yards to one of the three bars on the island.

Thanks for the vote of confidence. And I will pics up tomorrow. The weather limited the bike and wet t-shirt photos, but we took alot on the beach and on our ride exploring the back roads around the island.
Gotta love those chaps and cold gear, it just seems alittle early to pull it out, but my cold weather gear saved my but from getting soaked and freezing on the way to the beach.
Stay safe.

NICE!!!!!!

Thank you.... thank you!!!
I'm glad you liked them. I have alot more to share. The picture of the horses and the eroded sand dunes are two of my favorites for this trip.
Ten minutes after I took that picture of the dunes, the tide closed that pass. There were several trucks stuck on the southern end of the beach that could not leave until the tide lowered enough to get through that stretch. A few went around the dunes, but the locals know better. Its some major fines if you get caught up in the dunes.
And we had enough space between trucks, MrsJ decided to have fun with what she wore as a bathing suit. And we had more privacy on Monday and the outfits got more and more revealing, until she said "screw it and got down to her birthday suit. That is a definate first for her, nude on a public beach, and a non-nude beach at that. :D

I have over 120 pictures to choose from and edit, so it might take a little while, but I'll get them up soon.

Well it looks like it will be the hectic life for good this semester.:( I think you may have to give me a lil picke me up after awhile.

Well I FINALLY got off my lazy tail and got the pics developed and they gave me a disc to go with it so I could show you guys, BUT the really cool pics didn't turn out because the museum had a "No Flash Rule" for the whole place and the best stuff was in the darkest room.(ofcourse)

BUT on a better note I went to the Japanese Gardens next door and since it was all outside AND I could use my flash again those all turned out ok.

I'll have to find some time either Friday or Sunday to get them on here.

So enough about me. How ya been girl? Don't see you post too much. Hope you aren't being run around too.
