The Crafting Thread - Show Us What You've Made!

Here are a few of Anne's knitting creations. The boobie scarf in the first picture won a design contest.

Love those! I wish I could knit that well. :)

Now that it's done what are your plans for it?

Very clean stitching btw.

Thank you! I have this cedar chest in my living room that I put seasonal decorations on. I have some crocheted stuffed hearts, and some heart garland, and a bee (as in "Bee Mine") holding a heart that I'm planning on putting out, so I'm thinking I'm going to get a easel/stand thing of some kind and put the cross stitch with the rest of the decorations.

I knit but can't crochet worth shit even though I've tried.

I found a ripple-knit pattern for blankets that has only one pattern row that goes really quickly so that's all I've ever made in knitting. Everyone I know has received an afghan from me.

I needlepoint (it's so tedious), sew, cross stitch, rug hook, paint, draw, make beaded jewelry, hatstands, baby booties, and dabble with clay jewelry making and floral design. I've lots of craft supplies that its time to get rid of as we downsize though it's hard to find anyone that wants the stuff!

I finished another cross-stitch, and I also made some medium-sized crochet hearts. These things and also the cross-stitch I showed earlier in the thread are all going to go on my Valentine's Day display when I finally get off my ass and put it up.

I know the hoop is too big for this cross-stitch, but it was all I had, lol. I also need to tighten the fabric in the hoop a little.20230124_183032.jpg20230123_004836.jpg

So cool! Good job!

Thank you! :rose:

So I just spent the last three hours with a cross-stitch alphabet book, a cross-stitch Hello Kitty pattern, a pencil, some tape, and a bunch of graph paper. I graphed out the entirety of my super-cringey "Daddy's Little Kitten" idea. I'm half-proud I managed to do it and half-embarrassed that I'm actually going to do this, apparently.

Your cross stitch above is so cute! Proud/embarrassed sounds like a fun combo. 😁 Are the hearts difficult to crochet? They look difficult.

I’ve started to plan my blanket project in closer detail. I’ve made some color pattern mock ups in Excel which turns out is pretty good for that type of thing. Thank you extremely boring 1.5 hour meeting for that realization! Now the problem is that the green yarn I had thought of using is out of stock everywhere and I don’t know how long I dare wait. The colors in my excel plan aren’t exactly the same as the yarns would be that I’ve planned on using, but that’s the general idea at the moment. I might end up changing it completely due to the green shortage in my preferred yarn.

And an update to my sock project. I’ve knitted the easy parts now and next comes the tricky bit of the heel. I’ll get a lesson on that tomorrow from a friend. It’s not perfect by a long shot, but it’s my first knitting project, and for a first I think it’s pretty good. Some mistakes, sure, but I’ve managed to keep it together for the most part and it’s not unraveling or anything.

Ooh, I like your mock up! That's a nice color scheme. The sock looks really good, too!

The hearts are actually pretty easy to crochet if you know how to do a magic circle. This is the pattern I used. I just did the first two rounds because I wanted some medium-sized hearts. Going to make some smaller ones today by just doing the first round. :)

One day I’ll learn to read patterns…

I did the next bit of the heel. It looks tiny, weird and wrong, but apparently it is supposed to be like that.

And also a headband I crocheted. The buttons look all wonky, but I choose to call it a feature, not a bug. I already attached them twice, but both times they look really wonky when I wear it. Likely because my head is not flat or some other weird geometry reason, who knows.

They’re functional buttons, too! I managed to figure out the button holes.

I have never knitted on double-pointed needles, but in my limited experience knitting socks on looms, they usually do look wonky when you're working on them. The headband looks nice! I can never make buttons line up right on anything I do, nor can I attach arms and legs to my stuffies that I make evenly, either. You're making some serious progress!

This is a project that I started a few years ago and has reached this stage of development as of this last year, 2022. I grow peppers of various sorts. In this pic, there is jalapeno, cayenne, ghost, habanero, and my own special blend recipe. Growing, takes place from early April until late October. Throughout, I am gathering the various peppers and dehydrating them, grinding them up into spices. It started out, years ago with the ghost pepper, and then the idea germinated into this as a result. Next season, I expect to grow another round and pretty up the shakers a little better. All organically grown, no pesticide or weed killer. The blend, is a special recipe I developed over time and perfected. Everyone I've introduced it to, loves it, and puts on everything.

That is so awesome! I want to grow my own veggies and herbs and such, but I have to figure out a good way to do it. (I live in a small apartment complex.) So I'm in awe!

Thank you. 🤗 Means a lot. I prolly work way to hard on it, but, it's satisfying. I like to think I'm in the spice trade.

Google Vertical Gardening and see what you think. 🙂

Saw these while shopping yesterday and thought of this thread…
Can’t say there is much room for projects right now, but I’m totally holding onto the idea.

Those are super-cute. Definitely do them when you have a chance!

hi all.

Found this thread via a friend...
A little about me and crafting.
Have dabbled in a few things over the years.

Did a pottery class quite a few years ago that I really enjoyed, but then, well, life!

Didn’t do a lot since then, but recently have found an interest in air dry clay- which I’ve experimented with for a bit but have put that on the back burner (NOT literally LOL) for a while but I did find it really satisfying.

Next ,I tried my hand at quilting and managed to hand piece a sofa throw. Had to get someone else to actually quilt the thing but am really pleased with it. My granddaughter has always had her eye on it and I’ve told her that it will be hers one day.

Have also made her a pillow case and duvet cover for her bed. Again had to get a family friend to sew them together as I don’t have a machine.

She still has the duvet cover on her bed as a cuddle rug now (she’s 8!)

Lost interest in that and didn’t do anything for a while but then got into the air dry clay as mentioned above.

Recently I’ve taken up knitting. Used to do it years ago (many unfinished projects –including a matinee jacket I wanted to knit for my daughter when I was pregnant with her-she will be 36 this year- and I’ve only done 1 front panel- Oh well! 🤷‍♀️

My daughter has taken up knitting and has done some wonderful things including a “temperature scarf” for her Grandmothers recent birthday.

I decided to try my hand again and have found I’ve really enjoyed the therapeutic benefits of knitting.

Have completed a really really long scarf which I really enjoyed doing. My work place runs a Knit and Yarn session once a week for an hour and I join in on that. Am really loving the social side of that- meeting new people etc.

This year I’ve decided to knit my own dishcloths and also to make some to give away as gifts for Christmas.
I knitted my first dishcloth from an actual pattern (basketweave) which was a major achievement for me as I have always been nervous about reading a pattern but this one was super easy! Am super thrilled with the results.

Have done 4 cloths now – 3 with patterns that I just made up as I went along. Will post pics later if anyone would like to see….

Anyway that’s me!

Wow, sounds like you've been pretty busy! I would love to try quilting. Welcome to the thread! And feel free to share anything you like with us. :)

No photo of it, but I am trying to get the family 1964 Chevy pickup back on the road. It was bought new by my dad's aunt and uncle. My dad bought it from them and now I have it. I hope that before the coming summer is over I will be driving it.
I just was given a rather forlorn sewing machine. They were throwing the machine and were just keeping the base for a hall table. they said it was all rusted up and it was just junk. 15 minutes after I got home, I had it turning smoothly. Now I just have to learn how to use it. Yes, I enjoy playing with machines.
