We did the same, oddly, with our vet. Anti vaxxer so I took my business elsewhere and took a good number with me.

Church-shopping for a denomination that'll give them exemptions? Lazy. If they're going to do that, oughta go the whole hog and roll their own religion to give them permission for ALL the selfish shit they want to do.

One of my friends is in a similar, secular position - union rep at a large company that's introducing a vaccine requirement for employees. He gets calls from anti-vax members who want the union to fight it and who get very angry when told no. (Even if the union was opposed to vaccination, the law is very clear that the company can do this.)

Seems the people who ragequit rather than get vaccinated are exactly the same people who've been a pain in the arse for years - shocking, I know - and the company needs to shed staff anyway due to pandemic-related business losses, so it works out well for everybody, but my friend is sad that as a union rep he's not allowed to tell them "bye, Felicia".

The other employees in his industry are bringing in the same requirements, so the ones who refuse vaccination are basically opting for early retirement.
 
50% jump in cases from yesterday to today. Apparently driven by assholes who broke the lockdown rules to have football parties last weekend. :-/
 
I am just so fucking tired of Covid and death and stupid. I'm getting to the point I just want these crazy anti vaxxers to just get it and die already.

Same...sadly my parents (75 & 76) are among the anti-vaxxer crowd. Dad is a physician, mom is a nurse, they've fully fallen down the QAnon rabbit hole. I recently pointed out to my dad that there's an almost perfect correlation (inverse) between vaccination rates and hospitalization rates by state, and his response was the same as the dermatologist..."You shouldn't believe anything from the CDC or the state health departments."

To the sentiment expressed here, though, believe it or not, there's an actual conspiracy theory going around now that Dems are using reverse psychology to convince Republicans not to get vaccinated in order to kill them. Sigh...WTF is wrong with people???

It's mindblowing to me that some doctors are out there saying these things and still have their licenses.

I have a pharmacist like that in my congregation. Luckily for him he's retired now, but I'm fairly certain that if he weren't he'd be doing the exact same thing.

We were supposed to get the family together for the first time in like 16 months this weekend. My Nephew and his fiancé are anti vaxxers despite the fact that he is an electrician (who works in people's homes) and she works in a Daycare (where the owner is an anti-vax / conspiracy theorist / PPC supporter*)...Now nobody is coming. The younger kids (under 12 here) have no protection and we're not taking any chances...maybe Christmas? Next year? I just hope we don't meet at a funeral...

*far right political party in Canada who's platform in the recent Federal Election included the right to die of COVID (or, as they put it the right to ignore every protocol put in place by every layer of government). They elected no MPs thankfully.

Fuck you COVID 19 and the COVIDIOTS out there making it worse.

Could be that the update they did has something to do with the problem coning back.

As for Covid, restrictions are lifting here.
The recommendation is that the individual people, companies abd organizatins still need to consider specific risks according to their circumstances and act on that.
Most people only listened as far as restrictions lifting though.
Traffic is crazy with people going back to the office again, public transportation is even worse.
The owners of some nightlife hotspots said they feared that this weekend people would behave like cows being let out in spring. They’ve already been proved right.
Kids 12-16 are going to get their shots but not until november and the non-vaccinated are told that it is up to them to still keep their distance and be extra careful.
Interesting times.

Any medical professional who believes this should lose their licensing. What’s the point of having a board and professional ethics and licensing if it’s gutless?
 
Friend's daughter just tested positive - first person I know in Australia with COVID-19. She's in aged care but has only been able to get her first dose of vaccine :-/

Hopefully the first dose will give her some protection, but fucksake, the vaccination rollout here has been an omnishambles.

Well, my state is coming out of lockdown on Thursday night. Our case numbers seem to have levelled off and I'm hoping they'll fall as vaccination rates continue to rise - slow start but we're really catching up now.

ACT (our capital city plus surrounds) has just hit 99% first-dose vaccination for ages 12+, which is amazing. I wouldn't have expected that to be possible.
 
A friend was buried today...a good woman who never failed to improve my mood and put a smile on my face. I'm in a bit of a funk.
But there's good news: I got my booster. No side effects.
