The "Fuck you Covid19" thread

I can sit here in our bubble country and unfortunately feel quite comfortable that our Prime Minister is doing the right thing. We are fortunate that the current PM and the main prior PM for nine years, through adversity, reflect the core characteristics of our country.

They are both, to me, what forms the base for us, both had to deal with some significant events in our country, both dealt with it as leaders for the country at heart.

I have seen several YouTube vids on this. Still...have to have the staff. and...the two or four persons sharing a vent need to all be stabilized and requiring similar pressures. It has been tested on animals. No doubt we will soon be conducting a large scale human study. It's that or just let people die.

It seems Trump only cares about red states. And or he cares more about exacting revenge for whatever slight he haa has perceived by this or that governor.

We are so fucked.

Fuck you c19

And now, the extreme right has loosed their attack dogs on Dr. FaucI.: (

You know, that doesn't even make political sense. Shouldn't he be trying to convince people that didn't vote for him last time to vote for him this time by oh, say doing stuff for them when they are in need?

I'll try and find the article about a doctor in a hospital here who had like 18 patients on the same ventilator. It was more complicated than a splitter.

Here at least the Federal and Provincial governments are listening to our experts. (Even the conservative premier of Ontario who thinks the Donald is pretty cool).

I suppose seeing the PM of Canada self-isolating for two weeks because his wife tested positive (reportedly just him, her and their three kids in the official residence) kind brings it closer to home. (She says she has recovered as of today). Seeing hims standing outside the front door every day in a daily news conference is kind of a powerful image.

ETA: FUCK YOU COVID-19

(Stop trying to make hand sanitizer from vodka; drink it)

I would go so far as to say only wear a mask once, then clean (for the general public) ... they probably don't make much sense out in the open but in a supermarket or public transport they probably make sense. But reusing the same mask could also be a risk of infection - it picks up infected droplets. There are quite a few videos on youtube showing how to make and wear masks - worth checking out.

And I would add glasses to the mask - and they need to be regularly cleaned/disinfected too.

Another aspects of masks is that they stop you touching your face.

I'm practicing serious social distancing so I only have to go to the supermarket every few days, hopefully once a week. I will wear a homemade mask then, with tissue pad, and soaked in eau de toilette (80% alchohol). After use I will bin the tissue pad and clean the the mask (fabric).

But, as you say, it's not a substitute for social distancing or regular serious hand washing (to which I would add reguilar cleaning of phones, glassed, electronic cigarettes, tablets, anything you handle quite a lot).

Research. There's good information out there. But use thrustworthy sources,

By not getting infected you not only possibly save your own life, but also the lives of others - by not infecting them and possibily not taking up a badly needed hospital bed or ventilator.

Stay safe all!

I believe you quoted me at the top of your post.
1st, my comments about having "3" was in reference to fabric masks that can be laundered between each wear.

Where I work, and at hospitals in Seattle where many of my friends work, staff have been given exactly ONE n95 mask and told to reuse it..

Ugh.
What kind of banana republic do we live in?

Oh! And don’t forget to put it in a paper bag between to keep it dry. 😒

We’ve been allotted only 1 surgical mask per day now as well, so even if this thing is droplet (which I’m still unconvinced, *coughCDCmakingthingsup*), we are expected to wear the same mask for multiple patients.

Been thinking about this today, and after discussion with Daddy re: cloth masks, have decided to use some of the sterilization wrap I have laying around (I was going to make some art, but am thinking my health might be slightly more important) to make myself “disposable” masks. It is a better filter than fabric would be (the proverbial they recommend 100% cotton fabric), and will make me feel better than bringing masks home to launder them.

Hey all! Hope everyone is staying safe. Just woke up after crashing in bed following my sixth shift. Now I have 4 days of rest. It is crazy busy, but we still have enough staff to maintain a six days shift four days rest schedule, which is good. ICU is full though, so we are making impossible choices... it sucks...
I dreamt of work all night, which is just unhealthy... going to try and switch my mind off today...
Hope you all are well.

Just a short comment on this. I believe this is a world wide problem. I believe my country is considered one with very good accessible medical care for everyone, but the mask shortage has hit here too. I have to use one mask all day if possible, only supposed to take a new one if the first is getting too loose. We are using FFP2 masks though. I would not be happy with a surgical mask.
Most hospitals have set up a recycling protocol, which we are told is safe. I hope it is true.

cassie, Moochie, the Fool -

Thanks for your long hours, and for checking in here.

Glad you are getting rest

I too have been having Covid19 dreams/nightmares... my waiting room turned into a c19 ICU, working hours past the end of my shift and then not being able to find my car to leave. Worse...in my dream I am supposed to have left work in time to catch a flight to take a cruise.

It is important for you to understand I have never been on a cruise nor is it something that I aspired to even before this pandemic.

Dreams are so fucking weird.

Fuck you Covid19

The next person that doesn't respect my space after I've clearly said, "close enough" is going to be hurt. I've had enough.

Don’t lurk. This is the kinky board.
How’s your hubs doing?

Thanks. Still learning and exploring on a theoretical level...no practical experience, so don't really feel qualified to contribute much of anything. But I love Moochie's post.

He's good. Working from home for the past few weeks. We're in Chicago, so will be doing so for the foreseeable future as well. His general health is good.

Worldwide cases topped 1 million today.
Yesterday Pence admitted the US trajectory is most like Italy.
Front line workers of all kinds are still begging for PPE.
Our level of testing is inadequate (and that is a gross understatement)

I'm spending all my free time researching and making hand sewn face masks.

We are never going back to before. Whatever comes next it will be different. Just saying.

Fuck you Covid19

And now, CDC and WHO are poised to reverse course on facemasks. The real shortages are about to begin.

That shit never did compute.

The governor of Georgia JUST held a press conference stating he just learnt about asymptomatic carriers and thinks we should do something.

Uh, no shit, Sherlock.

I've been cooped up at home for twenty six fucking days, moron.

How the hell is the CDC in that state and their leadership so dense. I am angry at the utter incompetence of our leaders. Like, how?
