The Halloween 2024 Official Contest Support Thread!

I just submitted a short story for the pandemonium challenge but it could have also gone in this contest. Oh well, maybe I can think up another story in time :)

While I'm all in favour of more VD stories...no wait, that's unfortunate...while I'm all in favour of more vagina dentata stories, lining them up in a contest rather takes away from the suprise which is the very heart and soul (and teeth) of any good dentata story.
Have you seen the movie "Teeth"? It's a good one...

A few thousand words in, I realized I was writing a Halloween story without meaning to. I had to go back and change some things, but I'm well on my way to an entry. I was excited about the idea, but now I'm very excited.
Isn't that a great feeling? I love it when that happens.

I place this question here because @Rustyoznail mentioned it up the top in the intro. Is the Amorous Goods event running this year? I have not seen a support thread or any recent info... anyone know anything? I'm trying to hit every Contest and Challenge this year, so I would love to know. Thanks!!

Huh, I think it’s about time for me to enter an actual contest for once. Just submitted one to Pandemonium, so I think I’m going to do a oneshot in the Becoming Monsters universe for Halloween. Probably an “I’ll take the Trick” kind of thing.

Need to write my owed chapters before I can start in on it, but since I have a container series for oneshot things now I’m going for it.

It's in the list of challenges due this year, but @jaF0 might confirm that.

I'm working on a sequel to a (not yet published) story. The sequel is a story of itself (ie beginning, middle and end), and while it does continue on from the first, I've tried to write it so it could be read as a stand-alone (how successful at that is hard to know.)

The sequel just so happens to be set at Halloween, and Halloween impacts a few plot points. I was half-considering entering it into the competition as I'd probably be submitting it during the competition window anyway.

But thoughts on it being a sequel? Would it be bad to enter if a sequel or doesn't matter?

@Katie_Mae, if it stands by itself, it's fine. Some people might frown on it, but I believe the rule is to stop chapters being entered.

FWIW, a sequel of mine picked up third in a comp.

I’m entering at least one story (Going Batty) that ended up becoming a Chapter 1. Might end up writing another entry if the time comes up about a Trick Or Treat location.

September is here and that means it's Spring here. For you lot up north, it's Autumn (or Fall).

That can mean only one thing - it's time to start cranking out that Halloween story that you've been dying to tell! Let's kick off Autumn 2024 in the northern climes with a new support thread -

Halloween (Oct 31)

View attachment 2388371

Themes: scary stuff, costumes, Halloween traditions (trick-or-treating, etc.), etc.

You can begin submitting on (or before): October 2

The last day to submit is
October 23

Winners Will Be Announced:
October 30

The author must copy and paste the phrase "HALLOWEEN 2024" to the "Notes to Admin" field of the submission (without the quotation marks).

And please add the tag "HALLOWEEN 2024" (without the quotation marks)

Read Laurel's notice of the start of the contest sticky at the top of the Authors' Hangout (when it magically appears), before submitting and follow the instructions in that thread. I will keep an eye out for that information and update this page as soon as I see it (or as soon as someone points it out to me).

This thread is to SUPPORT and ENCOURAGE authors to enter stories in the 2024 Halloween Contest. For you new writers, this thread is a great place to meet your fellow authors and share ideas, tips, and tricks of the trade.

As the recently departed Ogg always told us, there is an advantage to entering stories in one of Literotica's themed contests. Apart from the possibility of winning, your story gets far more exposure and attention than it would normally do.

Some of that attention might be unwelcome, some abusive, but this thread is a good place to vent after getting that kind of attention. Some of that attention could be appreciative and helpful and this thread is a great place to come and share those accolades.

It's that time! Bring out your masks, candies, and creepy accessories, and prepare to put a spell on your readership.

Oh, and as an added bonus - Season 5 of The Amorous Goods Anthology is running at the same time, which will give you even more exposure!
Could not be more excited for this challenge. Double double toil and trouble fire burn and story bubble, I have one hell of a story brewing!!!

Halloween time means stories in LW, EC, and non-human, and probably some horror also. The LW ones tend to be delicious, as costumes can hide a lot of intentional and unintentional misdeeds
