The Halloween 2024 Official Contest Support Thread!

Halloween time means stories in LW, EC, and non-human, and probably some horror also. The LW ones tend to be delicious, as costumes can hide a lot of intentional and unintentional misdeeds
And I'm so looking forward to them.

I love Halloween. We'll see what I can come up with.

My Pandemonium story could have been a Halloween story too I suppose...

The more I think about it, the more I'd like to see if I could write a straight up horror story. I've touched on the horror genre a few times but never a full fledged horror.

My story will be in EH, but I wouldn't call it horror in the slasher film sort of way, but more like Dracula. Something enticing and seductive, but insidious and consuming.

I’m just polishing up a novel-length Halloween story that I’m super excited about.

It starts Loving Wives and ends Erotic horror.

It is written in five parts, but the contest rules says it needs to be single submission, so this one will be huge.

Any advice whether I should place this in LW or Novels/Novellas?

I think LW is a better fit for it, but I will certainly get zero-bombed by folks who get mad if the story is more than three pages.

Yes. You are correct. For the summer lovin contest, my story hung up in pending for a few days, then right before the 'on or before' date, it got the thumbs up for that date. I'm assuming the same will happen for Halloween, where they will be collected and reviewed right before go live.

But the dates always confuse me. The "You can begin submitting on (or before): October 2" means that the "go live" date is October 2, right?

I love my first four chapters, but no way I can get the last bunch to be as good in time. I'll have to wait for next year. :(

The first list will go up on the 2nd. If you submit a story more than a week out, it'll probably stay in pending and change to new around 30 September.

YMMV...

Down to my final section in what is becoming another long one. 31k words so far, and maybe another couple of k to cum... oh yes, one young journalist is going to get the answers she wanted.

Halloween... a graveyard... an abandoned church... what could go wrong?

Hoping I'll get 'The Missing' posted before I go on holiday.
