The Isolated Blurt Thread XXXVII: You're Welcome, Fuckers

I’m wondering who else adds a bit of rice to their chicken soup. I love the texture.

Soup, toast, scrambled eggs and a bowl of tomato and cucumber w olive oil for brunch. I’ve developed a keen interest in eating more olive oil if you guys have brand or recipe recommendations. I’m currently on the 3 litres of Red Island.

The missus went out and bought 8 litres when I told her there’s apparently a shortage because of the fires in Spain. The prices have gone up.

Lots of indigenous people still hurting from the referendum. That was our moment of shame

Are you talking about the voice? Our moment of shame? Really?

It really wasn’t. Half the damn country had no idea what the hell it was about. It was poorly planned and Albo tried to race to push it through. Hell, a lot of indigenous communities didn’t even agree with it. There’s zero shame in that, you’d better get your facts straight if you’re going to post here champ.

And why the fuck are you dragging that up now?

The reason 60% voted No was a combination of misinformation, and a lack of care. There was plenty of info on it. I didn't have a dog in that fight so it wasn't going to impact any aspect of my life nor a vast majority of Aussies. So voting Yes was easy. So I thought it was a no brainer. If anyone asked me if Australia was a racist country prior to the referendum I would always say No even though I know racism exits. But after the referendum I can't say that any more. Even I was shocked as to the result. I questioned everything I believed about Australian society. What it did highlight is that Australia is not immune to what is going in other countries. We only like to see the glossy but not the detail. Australia is still a good safe country to live in, but we have issues. Just ignoring them doesn't mean they don't exist. As for half the indigenous people not caring. Again total bullshit. 80% of indigenous people voted Yes. The other 20% wanted treaty first. Now they don't get either. I'm not the one with the wrong facts. Champ.

As to why I mentioned it, is that firstly the issues are still going on and secondly like the US the amount of fear generated gave people a sense that their rights would be lessoned which was not true. It's another case of fear ruling the day and politics pushing opinion rather than the facts. Those in the No campaign were phoning people in migrant communities saying if they voted Yes, them as a migrant will have less rights. Again total bullshit. Indigenous people in Australia only make up 3% of the population so they don't have much in the way of voting power and need the rest of the Aussies to be heard in this country. What happened during COVID? People who looked like they were Chinese were being attacked in the street. People with brown skin in Sydney were being blamed for spreading COVID and their shopping bags were being searched whereas in the white suburbs in Sydney none of that happened. The Health Minister of the NSW Lib govt said on air that migrants are spreading COVID. Really! You can bet the migrant groups in Sydney haven't forgotten that. As I said we like to say we are a multicultural society provided the migrants play ball. So lets not believe we are a Disney movie.

Fuck knows Aussies do not waste their spare time talking about politics, let alone listening to dipshits who clearly have no fucking idea.

I've been known to add pasta. And I love tomato soup with crisps to dip in.

When I went on a health kick a year or so back I had a lot of olive oil and I felt and looked great. My fave is a chili infused which peps up everything but is very hot. I decant some into a bottle of plain olive oil now I've got wussy as I've got older with spice.

I usually buy Morrisons own brand or M&S. If I go to a fancy farm shop I'll try a few of there's as they tend to do more unusual ones.
