The Lounge!!

Damn, sir, you have me at every turn. Giving you wine I don't like, how bad is that?!

And rum? No, no no nooooo. Rum makes me do bad things. Last time I had it was at Halloween. I was told horrific stories.

Bad things. Very bad things. Which just don't bear repeating. Not on a Monday evening, anyway!!

Admittedly, this mostly just makes me want to give you a lot of rum to see what happens.

I could put up some Halloween decorations, if that would help.

Ehh, no, that's fine thank you very much. I think I learned my lesson after 'The Captain Morgan Incident'. This Halloween will be a much quieter affair, like I usually do. I intend to sit at home with an apple cider and watch scary movies and eat peanuts.

Typically sounds like my ideal weekend, if I'm honest...

But no more fancy dress parties and spiced rum for me. I think my days of acting like a twenty year old are a couple of years behind me!!

As I pack and move boxes and feel my back begin to hurt more and more, I think I can safely say my days of walking like a 20 year old are behind me.

Fuck this 'getting old' nonsense.

I completely agree with you. Although I'm not that long out of my second decade. The third has been pretty good thus far, I have to admit.

Also... Nickel Creek. Saw your post and thought to myself 'Hmm, I've never heard of them. I'll give them a YouTube and see what they're like.'

Oh. My. God.

*grins* After that?

Punch Brothers.

And then you'll understand why I would marry Chris Thile, however straight I may be.

Oh this is just... Fantastic!

I am a big Yo-Yo Ma fan. And my taste in music is so varied...

I can't explain what this does to my soul.

There's no need to! I totally get it. It's extraordinary.

I love putting that on and just turning out the lights and listening. It's transporting.

I've been going through a real cello phase lately. And today I did the ironing to some traditional Irish music and had a wee ceilidh in the kitchen to myself.

I'm going to see Cara Dillon in May for my birthday, and I can't wait. I love the way she keeps her accent in her voice when she sings. So many singers sound American or English, but I love the sound of our accents in song. My S/O is American, he's from Alabama, and he loves my accent when I sing. I used to be really conscious of the fact I didn't sound generic, but now I'm kind of proud of it.

I'll have to look her up, I don't think I've heard of her! I also don't know what a 'wee ceilidh' is... although, Firefox seems to, which makes me laugh.

Glen Hansard still has his accent in some songs, I think.

I think accents are kind of fascinating. The way they cause people to say the same word differently, even depending on what part of the same country a person is from.

It's funny to scroll through the Kinect menu for FIFA 14, because it has like six different British accents you can choose from so it'll recognize the words you're saying.

Oh have you seen that film "Once"? The song Falling Slowly is so beautiful. A friend and I did it on New Year's Eve at a karaoke party.

Aw I feel all peaceful and chilled now:) Time to watch 'Cosmos' and scare the living crap out of myself again....

Gotta say, I love Neil DeGrasse Tyson though. He's the man.

Oh, I do like you.

NdGT is actually coming here April 1st. Though I'm not sure if I'll get to see him (again!) or not. But he's so fantastic in person.

I've actually seen the Swell Season live twice, once just a little after they won their Oscar for Falling Slowly. Before they played it, he said "This is a song that's treated us pretty well this year." Too true.

Once was a great little movie, though. Saw it in the theater, and the next stop was the record store to get the soundtrack.

grins

I haven't been to a concert since...

ponders

Ooh. Nine Inch Nails last Summer. Before that it was an open air orchestra in Tivoli Gardens, Copenhagen. Like I said, varied taste!

Are you sure NdGT is coming April 1st and it's not an April Fool? I'd be so unimpressed!

Aaaahhh crap I think this episode is about natural selection. Last week's was the Big Bang and I had to have a cup of tea afterwards and try and wrap my head around science and faith. I love science shows, but they make me think really hard, and question a lot. Sometimes it makes me a bit stressed...

Like Buffy said: ”Fire bad. Tree pretty."

If it's an April Fool's prank, I will be very, very sad.

So you're a week behind! Yeah, that episode is about natural selection. And it's fantastic! One of the best hour-long summaries of evolution that I've seen so far.

Just keep posting!

Also, welcome!

waves

In other news... I think last night may have in fact been the worst night of sleep I've ever had -ever!

shrinks quietly back into the shadows and whispers thankyou

comes in with a wave and a smile

Don't hide...come on out and say hello.

puts on the kettle, ready for tea, looking to the shy one in the shadows

Can I get you anything?

wanders in looking slightly dazed and makes straight for the kitchen for some ice water.

I just did all the spring cleaning stuff. I somehow had forgotten that I always mete out all of those tasks over a period of time and I...

waves at everyone distractedly and goes in search of hydration.
