The Lounge's Summer Pool Party

Runs in, grinning from ear to ear, shouting all the way to the pool.

"Last day! Last day, last day, last day!!"

One last whoop is given before she leaps into the water. Probably not a good idea as she was fully dressed and ready for her last day of work...but given that it's still raining where she is? It probably won't make that much difference.

Giggling she surfaces and swims to the side of the pool and hauls herself out.

And the older man waves back. See, he can learn something. And he ask, "Is the water warm"?

Laughs at Zy's confetti while she wrings out her dress beside the pool.

"Love it! Confetti for everyone! And yes," she smiles at the newcomer, "the water's pretty warm, warmer than the rain I left behind for sure! You should give it a try. And welcome, by the way, the Pool. Hope you enjoy your time here!"

She shakes her dress, which is still dripping down her legs, and shrugs.

"Ah well, time to go but I'll be back later..."

Her grin widens

"...when I'll be on my holidays! Woo hoo!! Bye for now everyone!"

Resuming her gleeful chanting of "Last day!" Brit skips away.

The older man smiles, "I will, I will give it a try". But all that see him, and his deep blue eyes, see a hint of sadness. For his true love, his one love, he has not heard from in a while. And he wonders, where could she be?

Dude... lighten up... sighs and goes back into hiding

I want to.......can you help me?? His blue eyes with a sparkle in them.

Umm, truthfully??? No... but there are others around here who have more of a heart than I do... so you may want to ask them...

This is a sentiment I can relate to. I'll barter with you, one tale of woe for another. I'll even divulge the most recent of my heartaches if you'll tell me yours.

*has broken his no drinking pact and lines up a pair of whiskey shots for the heartache squad.*

Stirs, grumbling from the chair she fell asleep in. Rising, and trying to smooth down her braid that's been ravaged by sleep, she walks to the bar and makes herself a strong black coffee, and grabs an orange which she starts to peel and nibble on.

Morning all. Morning girl in the hidey-hole. Morning newcomer. Morning, morning, morning...

sips on the coffee before getting ready for work

Morning.... *tries to play timezone triangulation.*

Irish! Maybe I knew that...

This pool needs a sauna. *downs the shot, no longer drinking alone.*

A hot tub, too. I'd love one after work. A 11 hour shift is going to be brutal.

Ouch! I hope you're well paid. I thought only America treated it's RNs and NAs like shit.

Am I to blame for you falling asleep in a chair? How comfortable are your shoes? Take care, be safe, fight the good fight. This too shall pass.

Believe it or not, the UK pays us minimum wage. I know, it's scandalous. I deal with clients at the end of life every day and it's all for minimum wage.

drinks more coffee

But in all honesty, I wouldn't change it for the world. I love my job, I love all the people I get to see day in and day out. It gives me an immense feeling of pride to get to share their time and hear their stories, and help them. It's a very rewarding job, it can be tough, but I love it. I don't get up in the morning any more and dread work, I get up and I'm counting the hours until I go. I've never been in a job where I enjoy it.

smiles proudly

You aren't to blame for me falling asleep. Long hours are! And my shoes are exceptionally comfy, thank you. I actually bought new ones about two months ago, and the soles are memory foam. Ridiculously comfy. It'll be a good day, hopefully. I'm looking forward to it, anyway.

That's what I was looking for. An optimistic outlook. Glad to hear about the remarkable shoes. May this day be the best that it could possibly be.

*Changes his profile around at stupid o'clock. Ponders if Brit might get back into the signature creation game, now that she's done being a responsible adult... more or less done. Done raising other people's children.*

I'll ask her in the morning! *blurts out without context and promptly falls asleep across the bar, snoring loudly.*

I accept your offer. In fact, a round of whiskey for everyone.....on me.

My tale. It's a familiar one. Going back a thousand years. My love? She has a husband, and a lover. Care to guess which one I am??

A floral dress and a wide smile, sunglasses on the top of her head and her suit beneath, Brit breezes onto the decking and ducks straight behind the bar amassing various bottles, a few glasses and a cocktail shaker. While she mixes and shakes vigorously, making various parts of her shake in time with her hands, she hums a familiar tune rather jauntily.

I'm going to guess... not the husband?

Having finished making her Mai Tai cocktail, she pours the contents of the shaking into several glasses anyone else wants to join her before taking one over to the pool where she sits down with an audible sigh of relaxation.

"Finally...!"

She grins before taking a long, slow sip of her drink.

*Shuffles in, head down and shoulders hunched. He steps behind Shark and pours another shot of whiskey into the new fellow's glass before proceeding to fill a large glass for himself. He finishes off the drink with enough cola to legally call it a mixer and a few ice cubes.

The first sip is more of a gulp, but afterward his shoulders relax and his gaze rises. A soft smile in Brit's direction is given though he remains behind the bar*

Love hurts, as the song goes. I'd tell you things will be alright, but only one person knows that. And Father Time is a quiet old bastard.

*chuckles mostly to himself and takes another gulp of his drink*

So, your telling me I should move on. Get on with my life. I tried that once. But...she came back.

I told her how much I loved her, and to prove it, I gave her roses🌹.

The next day, her husband gave her a Mercedes.

Oh hell, just give me the bottle!

Life's about decisions, man. If you make the one to move along, even if she comes to call, you have keep your eyes on the road before and not behind you.

*Slides the bottle over, sans pouring spout*

And love's not proven with gifts but with actions. No car or card or flower could ever hold a candle to a single act of love. Trinkets and things are nice, but if she places love based on material things, she doesn't know love's meaning.

*Takes another drink, finding his beverage half-empty. He realizes the mood is a bit somber and decides to finish his drink and replace it with one of the mai tais leftover from Brit's mixing spree. He retracts the whiskey bottle and slides another mai tai Orca's way*

But this place isn't meant for such melancholy things, so let's try and brighten up, ok?
