The Lounge's Summer Pool Party

stumbles in, clearly drunk and smiles at Brit.

Hi beautiful, how is your morning?

looks up with a grin

Morning, you! Mine's not bad at all, I've managed a long overdue post and almost ready to post a second. I can't complain. How about you?

she giggles

You look like you've been having fun.

I'm fucking faded. I joined in on a wedding I wasn't invited to and got a ton of good advice on what I should do with unrequited feelings.

I'm a walking train wreck and I love it.

You?

"I'm good, thanks."

She smiles, putting her notebook aside and motioning for him to sit down on one of the loungers beside hers.

"Do you want me to get you something from the bar? Water or maybe something stronger?"

Water would be ideal. I have too many feelings to Acurately convey them to you. But you should know that I need you.

Deal with that.

Smiling shyly she rises to her feet and guides him to sit down on a lounger, leaning down to kiss his cheek.

"Well, it's always nice to be needed."

She heads to the bar and comes back with a tall glass of iced water, passing it to him she sits down beside him, smiling again.

"And what might you need me for?"

Oh Brit...

I need you for writing.

Laughs brightly and kisses his cheek.

"I'm actually writing a post for you at the moment, hopefully it'll be done before long, so there's some of my writing to begin with.

"I felt it had been more than long enough since you had a post from Adrianna."

A familiar figure wanders out on the deck, barefoot, hair a mess of curls, in a summery dress. It's been so long since she was around Lit, she blinks to acclimatise.

I always liked this place, Brit.

Turning, a smile spreads across a face that has clearly caught some sun and that smile is a megawatt, directed at her friend.

Missed you. Happy Midsummer.

...a kiss for a witch...

Serps!

hugs warmly

So lovely to see you! Happy Midsummer to you too. I love your dress!

Thanks, Brit. Glad to see the pool up and running again. How are things with you?

Takes a seat at the bar and orders an orange juice

I have a rare day off today so thought I'd pop in and say hi. I was all grins when I saw this thread again.

"I've been literally itching to open it up again, I figured Midsummer was an apt time. The Lounge was feeling ever so quiet and given how well this place worked last year for bringing new faces to the place, I couldn't wait to try it again."

Brit grins excitedly.

"It's been nice and busy already so hopefully it'll be a fun few months here, while it's open. And things with me are good, thanks, it's been an insane couple of months for me - work's been pretty stressful among other things - but hopefully things have wound down or are winding down now for the summer. Hoping to have time to write and time to spend here too."

Yeah, I can imagine coming up to this time of year can be mad in your line of work. Hopefully you have a couple of nice, chilled months of summer ahead of you, with lots of time to work on your novel, among other things! I hope it's coming along well. I'm hoping to be around here a little more... Well, I say that, but then I got told yesterday we're losing a couple of girls at work so I think there might be a lot of overtime on my horizon.

I shouldn't complain though. I have a big move to save up for.

You do!

bounces excitedly, clapping her hands

Moves and weddings and so much good stuff....yay! So many exciting things coming your way to look forward to, I'm so happy for you, lovely!

blushes and takes a sip of her juice

You're too sweet. I'm excited too, thinking a lot about the massive change at the minute though, leaving the UK behind for the USA. I guess you know what it's like, moving away from home and friends, and it worked out wonderfully for you. I hope I have the same kind of luck.

Once we get married, I don't see us staying in Alabama though, I want to move a little further north, where there's less chance of me melting in the heat.

giggles

"Yeah, moving abroad is a big thing but the best way to look at it is an adventure. And nothing is permanent, if you really don't like it, you can always try somewhere else. But make sure you give yourself time to actually get over the fact that you're there and actually live there for a bit.

Keeping in touch with home is so much easier these days than it was when I moved away. Even though it was only a decade ago there were not the options there are now for communication. And when you're away from home, it makes those trips back so much more meaningful.

The important things to adventures like these is choosing the right person to share it with. From what I've heard you've picked a great partner."

winks with a wide smile on her lips

"I speak from experience in saying that with the right person by your side, you can face anything the world chooses to throw at you."

Yeah, that last part is most definitely true.

I got a call from the jewellers the other day, our wedding rings came in. Sized and ready to go. I know, I know, I'm being crazy with the organisation. I tried mine on and I got so emotional! How weird. Actually it's not really that weird. I can't wait to be his wife. That will be strange. I'll be a wife. :O

Eeee!

bounces some more

I think you'll take well to marriage. It doesn't change much, not really, day to day things are as they've always been to a point but it's...it's a feeling you get. I think you're going to love it!

Dressed in her Sunday finest, a simple purple sundress with a cropped white jacket to cover her shoulders for modesty, she made her way past the pool having heard the musical lilt of a familiar voice.

She swayed a little more than normal on her latest acquisition in footwear, white 5 inch platforms that would rival her beloved Equalizers, but soon found herself near the lovely ladies where she waited a moment for the conversation to pause.

"Morning! Sorry to interrupt, but I wanted to wish ps congratulations again on her engagement," she smiled, before adding with a wink, "I'd recommend Virginia for a possible future relo, but it's still mighty hot there too."

Looking over at Brit, she smiled a little self consciously, "And, um, service today will remind me not to be so trusty of the silver tongued devils that are drawn to your lovely establishment."

Smiles warmly as Angel appears looking rather wonderful

"Hello again. And, so far today we're relatively devil free but I can't say for sure how long that will be the case. But we're all pretty defenceless against some of their charms, so don't worry, you're not alone in that."

A guilty grin of her own curves her lips

"The Pool definitely saw it's share of excitement here yesterday!"

gives Angel a warm hug

Good to see you, and thanks again. Not sure about Virginia. I'm thinking more Missouri or Colorado actually. There's a lot of places we could move. Washington State looks nice too, but that could be problematic for flights home and handiness to Alabama and his family. We'll work something out though.

Anyway, I think the time for orange juice is over. Cocktails, anyone?

raises her eyebrows hopefully

Count me in! I fancy something refreshing, colourful...and potentially lethal.

grins wickedly and then adds excitedly

With an umbrella!

A cocktail sounds the perfect thing at this time of day.

Brit takes her frankly amazing looking drink back to the poolside, slipping out of her kaftan and slipping into the pool.

Carrying her drink over the water to stand and sip it with the sun shining on her back and the beautiful ocean before her.

*Sashays in with an exaggerated sway of her hips thanks to her shoes and a mischievous smile on her lips*

Did someone mention cocktails?
