The Nail Thread

So pink. Meaning my hand is pink, the perfume is pink and my nails are pink. I think my hands will be pink for a long time (thank you, covid).

Very yellow gold. Too yellow for my skin. Pardon the less than stellar precision, I just wanted to test this one.

Wish me luck when it's time to remove the nail polish. I predict glitter flakes everywhere again.

I can't be the only one here who wears and likes nail polish? Surely in times like these we need a little bit of vapid, yes?

Red-hot pink hybrid and some leftover glitter flakes from removing the yellow abomination above.

I love nail polish but I usually have trouble timing it so that it dries enough before bedtime. I really need to do my nails though.

C'mon, post a photo ultramarine. We would like to see.

Looks to be a cherry red seela, your nails always look professionally done.

I know the problem. I often end up with odd dents in my nails when my nails haven't been fully dried before going to bed... I have some lines from my hair in my nails now, too. I did the red yesterday and went to bed and I guess I must have held my hand under my head when I slept.

The nail polish didn't stain anything, but because it wasn't completely dry, it just...dented.

I usually only take a pic when my nails don't look like they've been painted by a toddler, so that's the reason. :D

But thank you. :)

I'll try to do my nails today and post a photo.

Yes, please do! :)

I'm working on them but I had to cut them short and it looks like a child painted them.

I find short nails more difficult to paint, even though I don't think it really should matter, because the base part is the same if your nails are long or short. But I definitely notice the difference. Maybe when they're shorter the smudges are somehow more highlighted when there's less of that other nail part to distract from it. :)

Ooooh! Your nails are long!!

Yes! Let's see how long I can keep them like this. :)

Even the base on my nails is short. I think I somehow managed to shorten it on a few fingers too.

I really want to share here. My nails are like my little artsy craftsy hobby. I get still do similar things, but I don't end up with all the crap I really have no need for, and it is a complete pinterest failure less often.

I am currently in neon leopard print. inspirational challenge was neon animals. They are getting a little rough, I redo them this weekend. The next inspiration is lace, so I am guessing I will go with stamping this weekend.

I also thought this one was really fun. inspirational challenge was bathing suits, and these are my current suits.

very fun! You do them yourself??

What are some of the ways you use?

well, creating stencils out of either vinyl or painters tape. I have a cricut so more intricate stencils can be done on that. Toner transfer, like the bathing suit one. Using a printer to create the design, then transferring the toner. Stamping, but also with powders and tacky adhesive (to apply foil) which I often find easier as some plates I really seem to struggle with speed, so something that isn't as time sensitive. Foiling. Going more abstract like tie dyes or animal prints where painting doesn't need the precision. I am planning to play around with dimethicone marbling and see what I can find that works for me.

Wow, that's really cool! Way above my skill level for sure. :)

Well thank you, but I can almost guarantee that it is not above your skill level. I can't paint that. neon nails were just Zoya leopard topper, and the swimsuit nails, just toner transfer. I took a photo of part of the swimsuits, printed it on a laser color printer in a couple strips, pulled the toner off the paper and transferred the design it to my nails. If you can work a printer and any application that you can insert an image and crop and size it in order to print, it is in your skill level.

Interesting. I've done that with newspaper ink, but I found it to be quite difficult and fidgety. I don't think I'm crafty enough a person to truly ever enjoy projects like that. I wish I were, I love pretty nails! :)

I've also done water marbling every now and again. There are probably some pics here, too. That's easily the craftiest thing I've done with my nails.

yeah, I think newspaper would be harder to work with based on the properties of the paper. I don't think it would lend itself to easy separation. I haven't tried myself though.

Water marbling always looks so cool......on others. I am always a complete pinterest fail when I attempt it. Last time I tried, some fell to the bottom and ate through the plastic cup that I was using, flooding my table and myself, sigh. As far as I can tell, no one has had that problem, ever. leave it to me. I am hoping silicone marbling will work better for me.
