The Nail Thread

It’s a twofer. Kinda.

Does the constant hand sanitizing make everybody else’s cuticles dry into dust as well? No matter how much I moisturize, my hands just can’t deal. I was hoping it’s get better once the weather warms up, but there hasn’t been any significant change. I hate this.

I have to use a non-alcohol based sanitizer but still have the same issue due to increased hand washing regardless of what soap I use.

Yes, same here. I've tried different kinds of soaps and different kinds of sanitizers, but the end result is that most of the time my hands are dry and itchy. It's a little better now that the weather is warmer, but not a ton. I apply cuticle oil generously and that helps some, but doesn't remove the problem.

Basic bronze. Keeping the thread alive!

I can't imagine how, with all the moving and sorting you've been doing, you managed to keep up such beautiful nails.

My nails are a constant mess from handling large, heavy files at work or cleaning and gardening at home. I just give up and keep them filed smooth regardless of their uneven lengths.:(

:) copper/bronze is among my favorite colors to wear. Makes pretty eye shadow, too.

I recently switched to using a glass nail file. The cardboard foam ones seemed really wasteful and they made me uncomfortable in a sanitary kind of way. The glass file lasts longer and I can clean and sanitize it so I feel better using it. I’ve also found that it gets the job done in fewer strokes.

I also started holding my hand up to light to shape them. It is decidedly easier to see the shape and get the desired results. My nails are growing in nicely and I haven’t been doing as much lifting or strenuous work so I’ve managed to not break any nails in a long while. Kind of nice in a way.

I hesitated to upload this one.

The color is I’m Not Really A Waitress by O.P.I. Please excuse the rough edges, they’re a few days in and I’ve been doing some seasonal cleaning.

My toenails are painted with INRAW!

I like copper but it doesn’t work well with my skintone.
Bronzeish green is a favourite though, like Ciaté’s Oil slick for example.

I like the color! And the shape looks good! Love to see a nice set of nails, especially in that color, or darker. I imagine those nails running over my skin as I watch with wide eyed anticipation!

Twinsies. :D

I have a neutral/olive undertone so copper can look really good on me. The pretty pastels and pinks I love so much don’t look that great with my skin tone but I can’t help myself.

I must check out this Ciaté brand, I’ve never heard of it.

Pretty bottles, pretty colours, good quality to apply and it holds up well on the nail. I like the brush and I think the long cap makes it easier to be steady.

Gracie, I usually ruin my nails when I clean, as happened today (I did the nails on Wednesday, so it's okay), and my nails aren't even length or shape... I'm not good at that sort of thing. Plus two of my nails get wonky when they grow longer, which makes it difficult to keep everything even. But I'm not so fancy and polished anyway, so I'm not letting it bother me. :)

Thanks for joining Meeks! That's a very pretty color you're wearing. Now I'm craving some red myself too. I'll do red next. :)

Also, can I say, I'm absolutely gobsmacked by people knowing which colors suit them, knowing their skin tones and all. Goals! :D

I love the echoing color on your toes!

I've used glass for awhile but I still reach for the "diamond dust" ones due to their longevity. If I can't seem to smooth one properly the glass works better.

Y'all make me want to run out and buy polish as I don't have a single bottle in the house!

PS. Does that make me have to give up my lady card?

Absolutely not. Painting nails is often a luxury and in no way a “lady card.” :) do you.

I’m not fond of the shape of my hands recently. More my dominant hand as it’s bendy but doesn’t like to be straightened. I’m painting my nails more recently and it’s kind of like a “I can do this now but maybe won’t be able to later so do it as often as possible” feeling. I’m going through some greatest hits type colors and today is Hush Money. Rose gold is probably the ultimate in what I think looks good on me. Before this I wore Vacation Time which is a dusty rose with a brown- almost orange tint that also surprisingly matches a matte lipstick and floral shirt that I own. I think it’s safe to say I like the color. ;)

New color! This one is a velvet matte so it’s metallic but not glossy. Sinful Colors Raspberries n’ cream.

This is really lovely! I hate that they stopped selling Sinful Colors here as far as I know. At least I haven’t seen it anywhere for years now.

I’ve been stuck with red for a long time now. I should mix it up a little again.

Isn’t it? :) I think (weirdly) it looks better on my toes than my fingernails.

That’s no fun. I wonder why?

I’ve been stuck in a rotation of pinks. I have some fun greens and purples but can’t bring myself to use them. I feel as though I’m just really “playing it safe” right now. Even red feels like a lot sometimes.

They never carried a big selection of colors but at least there were some. I really wish they’d start selling them again. On the other hand they’ve started to sell an Estonian brand I like in a bigger range, so that’s nice.

I still wish there were more options in smaller bottles, though. Mavala size is great for me, but their range tends to be rather conservative in most stores, and sometimes it’s nice to wear something a little more out there. :)
