The Nail Thread

This color combo looks so familiar! Very nice :)

These are all really cute. Great ideas, I might take some inspiration for my holiday party.

I haven’t done anything with my nails. I stupidly did a rush job with no base coat resulting in stained, sore nails from the polish being on too long. I was surprised to learn the sore finger tips comes from exposing the nails after having polish on for too long and not from the pressure of rubbing to take it off. TIL 🌈

I’m stuck with stained nails too, been for a long time. I don’t want to buff the stain out because my nails are thin and prone to split as is, so instead I’ve just been patiently growing out the yellow ugliness. Without polish half of my nails looks like I’ve been chain smoking all my life. Especially thumb nails grow so slowly, this is taking forever.

I’ve had some success with lemon bleaching but it’s very minimal. Some recommend whitening toothpaste, but I doubt it’s super effective. I’ve been pondering getting a whiten stick product, I always decide not to for some reason. Not really sure why.

I really don’t like the look of “is that a fungal infection?” happening right now.

Have tried eating Jello? Maybe alpha lipoic acid, 600mg three times a day to straighten out nail issues caused by a vitamin imbalance? My Dr advised this and said it must be in tablet form and not in capsules.

It’s been better with my nails after I started my winter vitamin d regimen so there might be something to it. I’ve also noticed that my nails fare better now that I switched the hand sanitizer I carry in my purse. The previous one was awful, made my hands so dry.

I don’t know what jello would add to it? We don’t have jello here anyway, as far as I know, so can’t eat it.

Maybe gelatin for the collagen content. :)

Collagen is good for hair, skin, and nails. It’s pretty easy to find supplements but it’s questionable whether or not it’s absorbed or useful in this form. I actually have some collagen candies :D it’s a Japanese candy and I bought it for the flavor offered (rose) and didn’t realize it doubled as a collagen supplement.

Sorry, Jello has become synonymous with flavored gelatin here. Same as facial tissues are Kleenex, which is the prevalent brand name.

Gelatin is supposed to help increase nail strength. Meek explained much better than I.

I think I would be interested in rose flavored candy.

Sheer pink because it’s prettier than bare nails right now.

This one is part of the Sinful Colors scented spa inspired collection.

That's nice.

I have a base coat that's very pale, sheer pink. I wear that often without any colored polish on top to get that almost bare but better, look. :)

Thanks :) it’s a nice color and my first pick when needing to spruce things up a bit.

I have a similar for when I haven’t been biting my nails. I rarely use colourful polish for my finger nails.

Ohhhh, so this thread is not about construction fasteners used in BDSM devices? My bad, sorry...

Ah yes, the no-makeup makeup looks for nails. :D I used to have a “BB Cream” nail polish that was specifically for this purpose. I wonder if I should reinvest? (>_<) I probably shouldn’t add to the collection.

It looks nice, very natural. :) And that green background is a gorgeous color.

It’s one of Essie’s Treat, love&colour, called Tinted Love. Gotta love polish names…
It’s sheer creamy pink but if you look closely in yhe light it has a touch of red shimmer.
I’m also fond of Mavala’s Nicosia, not as sheer and with a touch of golden shimmer. It’s one of their’s that I wish came in a bigger bottle too.

Essie formulas are hit or miss for me, I think their sheer formulas tend to be pretty nice though. As for Mavala, omg you keep giving me new brands to check out and I’m going to seriously start ordering like an addict! :p

Mavala is a big favorite of mine for classic shades. I love that they're small bottles, because that way I actually end up using all of. The little caps can be a little difficult for me to maneuver if I wear my nails very long, though.

I've grown to like Essie's Expressie line, which dries very fast. One of my favorites from that line is Scoot Scoot, kind of a dark muddy purple. I actually just put it on my left hand, but I realized I'll have to remove it and go for something more neutral, which probably means just using the "barely there" pink base coat. I'm leaving for Christmas on Tuesday and don't want to deal with dark nails, because all chips will be so visible in them.

I noticed they mainly sell minis. It’s a huge collection of colors and some look pretty luxurious so I’m really curious about the coverage. I try to keep my nails a reasonable length, not too long. Every time I don’t clip them I end up breaking one and the damned things aren’t flexible at all so it snaps in the middle of the nail bed which is horrific.

I haven’t tried the Expressie line but many of the colors are tempting. When I travel I go for a neutral or nude nail color for the same reason. Inevitably they will chip and I’m not going to be fixing that on the go.

The coverage depends greatly on the shade.

Mavala has a wonderful range of reds, but for some reason even in places with a wide range available, the more interesting colors are barely ever available. I don't know if it's because people only want to buy the more classic colors here or because the more funky colors tend to be limited editions or seasonal.

I've learned that I find something I like and it isn't what you could call a classic color, I have to buy it when I see it, because chances are it won't be there for long.

Here’s one of my favorite very neutral, barely there pinks that I’ve been wearing a lot. It doesn’t remove the discoloration completely but makes it a lot less noticeable. Still looks like I’m just wearing a clear polish.

Mademoiselle by Essie. I suspect taking a shower will get rid of the little bits that I messed up…

And yes, I’m cooking. :D

Nice, I’ve debated getting this color a million times. I, too, rely on washing up to take off the rough edges usually. :D
