The Nail Thread

Thats so adorable!

I've been exploring press ons. Anyone have a brand preference?

Thanks!
I haven’t tried press ons but I see some really cute sets that are tempting. I always worry they might pop off constantly because I really have no idea the difference between glued on and pressed on.

This is great! Very chic with a touch of whimsy, just so good. :)

Why haven’t I ever thought of practicing my weeble nail art skills on toes? I can use my dominant hand, there’s more surface and it’ll stay on for a long time! So many pros.

Thank you, I was feeling the need for some holiday cheer.
I did my hands, too. I always start by painting my toenails because it’s a nice way to see what everything will look like before I do my hands. :D Like a preview and then I can decide if I want people to actually see it.

That’s adorable!

Thanks :)

Thanks :)

If anyone is interested the colors are from Essie’s V-day collection. Red is Love-Note Worthy and pink is Pretty in Ink.

I’ve looked at Love is Note Worthy online and hoped it would be a bit like OPI Skyfall.
Under Locket and Key looks like a good one too. Haven’t had time to look at it in person though.

Kinda feeling my Blacktip shark fantasies with these nails. Completely not in the spirit of valentines day.

I like that it’s neutrals but not boring at all.

My nails have become my number one hobby. It’s a nice solitary and somewhat therapeutic activity. I’ve recently perfected the French manicure and tried a new color from OPI called Cozu-Melt In The Sun. :)
I love them both! Especially the French manicure looks so professional and mega chic.

Wow, that french manicure!

I totally get the therapeutic thing.
It is one of those activities where you (general you) can’t run around and do multiple things at the same time. It takes focus, but the outcome isn’t important enough to cause stress and it’s something you do with your hands.

It’s really important for me to use my hands. And I’m struggling with my energy levels lately so it’s giving me something stationary to focus on that isn’t doomscrolling. Plus the boost to my confidence as I’m really anxious about what my hands may look like with time.

As a side note: the rounded shape seems to be making it harder to break my nails. There aren’t any sharp corners to get caught on anything so I’m able to have them longer without breakage. :)

It’s a tough act to follow Meeks and her pro looking nails… but I wanted to try something a little different. I’ve been stuck with reds, pinks and nudes for so long now.

Streetwear n’ tear by Essie.

Edit: oh, and as usual, I haven’t cleaned the edges. I trust handwashing and taking a shower will take care of the problem today. Just felt the need to explain, because it looks so bad compared to Meeks…

I love that group of colour so much. Or well, that’s how I group them.
I ration my Opi Jade is the new black and Essie Dive Bar and try to look for new favourites that might replace them.
This is a good tip.

It looks more green in the pic than it does IRL. It’s sort of petroleum blue with a significant green lean. Much, much more blue than Jade is the new black.

Your mentioning OPI reminded me of the green OPI I have. I’ll have to dig it up and start wearing it more actively again now that I’m trying to move away from only reds and pinks, at least for a while. I think it was called Pea G rated. ☺️

Sometimes all you need is the name. 😁

I group my greens and blues and darker teal and petrol together…
You don’t want to ask details about the categories…
There is something about colour gradients that makes me go overboard. I have to stop myself from buying things I don’t need because they were presented as a pretty, shiny colour combo.

:) this color is gorgeous! I like the hand washing method, it’s the easiest way to clean up edges. I have way too much time on my hands (puns!) now so I watched a bunch of YouTube channels on how to clean up edges and purchased a cheap e.l.f. Eyebrow brush to use. A little acetone and it’s crazy how easy it is. I may or may not have had to redo entire nails a few times. I’m getting better each time. And it’s a lot of times. 😅

Using a sturdy makeup brush is a great idea!

I'm a sucker to the same thing. That's how I've ended up with a glittery orange and yellow nail polish even though both are colors that don't really speak to me on their own. I've never really used them either... I think I gave the orange one away.

OPI CIA = Color Is Awesome. It really is an awesome color. I don’t understand why I haven’t worn this more. :)

This is a fun color and it looks great against your skin tone. :)

You need to give me a lesson on what colors look good and how I can tell that myself. I have no clue how any of that works. I know I feel more comfortable in some colors than others but I don’t really know if they’re colors that look great on me or not. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Anyway, green nails now. Rated Pea-G by OPI. My top coat was almost used up. It was so gloopy and difficult to apply that it messed up the actual color. Oh well. Still a fun color.

Good spring/easter colour!

I found an old favourite in my stash:

Opi Alcatraz Rocks from the Liquid Sands collections.
I can’t stand it on its own because of the ”sandy” surface but with at top coat, the different coloured glitter makes me smile. Don’t know if the picture captures the multitude and the density of the glitter but I hope so.
