How a creature can be cute and adorable with equal parts foul and horrid I have no idea.

It's Endless.
You're talking about Endless, aren't you? :p

My blurt!
Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee. Today! I'm tired! :l
And I'm sorry, Shreveport, but I just don't like you and your crappy drivers and your crappy roads!!

Since I've been bed bound with a major cold, I've been reading some Lit stories for the first time in, well, probably ever. I can't believe how popular it seems to be to copulate in a car. I've always hated it, because it's so cramped and simply uncomfortable. Heads bumping into things, legs getting stuck between seats etc.

Then a little lightbulb went off in my head. Most of the stories are probably from American writers and American cars resemble ocean liners more than what I think of as a car.

Maybe having sex in an American car isn't as miserable an experience as all of mine have been.

Apart from the small European car vs big American float, I think there is a cultural element to it.
There seems to be quite a bit of social control in the US, but people actually get a driver's license before the age of consent.

In my place, consent is at 15, but the license is at 18 (and quite elaborate and expensive to get).
Sex ed in schools is pretty efficient, and "have fun, practice safe sex and be nice to each other " is considered the way to go.
Only the religious loonies around here claim to believe in abstinence and "preserving yourself for the wedding day".
That means, that at 18, there are few licenses, and a similarly low number of virgins.
(It funnily also means, that compared to the US, we have a very low occurrence of teen pregnancy and STD. Not to mention, that the number of youngsters killed in the traffic is low too)
Abortion rates (according to The Lancet) are 15-17 per 1000 women for Northern Europe, and 19 for the US and Canada. Just to puncture the argument of unhindred abortions as the cause for lower teen preggitivity.

But back to culture: if US youngsters have their privacy in the cars at a young age, they are likely to have "especially fond memories about them".
The effects of the formative years should not be under estimated.

I thought about how kids probably have sex in cars there, but adults certainly have other options. I didn't make the connection to formative years etc, but that's true.

There can be a distinct lack of privacy in adult life too, sadly.

I have a mini van. When I'm not hauling my entire stock of pretties, I can fit an entire queen size bed in that thing, with proper adjustments, though unless I'm playing with a particularly tall guy, it's not very necessary.

I like the public aspect of it. I'm into the possibility of "getting caught" so that's typically why I favor the car romps.

My BF in high school had a VW Rabbit (Golf, now, I think). I nearly lost my anal virginity to the parking brake. One of my friends dated a guy with a Triumph TR6. They were both quite tall, and I admired their limberness.

My first car was a hideously huge Buick LeSabre. I swear I could have conceived, given birth, and raised a family in that thing.

When I was in college, I had a '96 Pontiac Firebird. (Well, I still have her; she just doesn't run anymore.) The couple of times I attempted to have sex in that car were just completely awful.

It's not as bad when you're out in the middle of nowhere with a truck or a large SUV that the seats fold down in. But I never really did much of that, TBH. I've just never had the thing for semi-public sex that a lot of people seem to have, and if you were to judge my level of supposed "kinkiness" just off the kinds of places where I've had sex, you'd think I was the most boring sex partner alive.

Beds 5-eva, pleaseandthankyou.

Gah, I'm so tired I think I'm gonna have to drink coffee.

A friend of mine made me stay up half the night because he wanted me to watch the aurora borealis with him. Ok, it's not that common to see them this far south, but come on, he had seen before, I had seen them before, what's the big fuss.

I wanna sleeeeeeep. I caaaaaaaaan't.

You've seen the Northern Lights?! So very jealous! I think an iced redbull espresso frappé is in order!

I've seen the northern lights many, many times. They're pretty, yes, but this far south they're usually pretty dim and bland already and it was quite cloudy last night. It's better to go up north if you want to see them. There are no city lights there to ruin the experience either. Last night's lights were all green, no other colors. Lemme see if I can dig up some pics, certainly somebody's taken them.

Edit: Here are some pics from last night.

I would have rather slept, but I couldn't bail on him, because I promised. I'm very tired now.

I know laughing cat, that's what I thought too......its certainly something I'd love to see very much.

Seela you don't seem to me to suffer ennui of even wonders you have access to so easily, I think your cold must still be lingering?

The cold certainly played a role. I haven't been sleeping well this past week, and now that I felt like I finally could have slept through an entire night without having to blow my nose or cough my lungs out, it would have been nice to take advantage of it.
