Indeed, you're quite right. But pumpkin spice, at least as it's purveyed here in the U.S., is an artificial ingredient that tastes nasty and is used in far too many foods and beverages that ought never to be connected with pumpkins.

If one really wants a pumpkin pie spice flavor (and generally it's the spices our mouths want, not the pumpkin) there's an easy homemade way to do so. Make a simple syrup (sugar and water, reduced) and while it's simmering add a cinnamon stick, dried allspice berries and cloves. Ta-da, your very own spice syrup!

I have a small suggestion. Please consider the possibility that you are stronger than you feel. Sometimes our feelings about ourselves can deceive us in ways that are not always good for us.
