We have cute little lizards here, AND road runners. I love them both, but I kind of like to give the lizards a chance. We are on the hunt for some nice flat rocks for a lizard haven. And we're headed out tomorrow, probably, to grab a few plants from the arboretum plant sale. Putting down a few extra roots, here and there. :)

I freaked out yesterday, standing at the kitchen sink when all of the sudden something zipped across the windowsill  After the initial shock, I realized it was a little lizard/salamander thingy. Great! There's no catching those things, kitties will get to him first :( So now I'm feeding a salamander out of bottle caps, hoping it gets away somehow

Aw, hope it works out. I feel terrible. Mister investigated and found another dead baby frog. Looks like that's what scared me earlier. :( The first one I saved I found because my little cat was trying to play with it. She's so weird, she pokes it and then meows really loud at it as if saying, "that's NOT how you play the game!"

I like the lizards. We had a family of blue tailed skinks living in the hallway of the complex. I haven't seen them in a while. :/ The first time I came across one I thought it was a snake. I was relieved to see its little feet. (*^_^*)

The other bad thing is that I won't be running the garbage disposal for the next few weeks (or until I find him) just in case...

A friend bought a Hermit Crab for her 8 year old. One night around dinner time the crab got loose and the whole family searched for him until past the youngster's bedtime. The parents promised to continue the search when they tucked him in. By midnight, no crab in sight, they gave up and began to pick up the kitchen. Husband starts up the garbage disposal and, yep, found the crab. Who was no more, so to speak.

Ah, that's terrible. Hopefully they just told the 8yo that the crab escaped or something. A child would remember that forever.

I presume, but I don't recall. I have another friend who had a gerbil for 15 years. Or so she thought. Gerbils only live a few months in captivity, so every time one died, her mother would go out for a replacement, doing her best to match color and size. Eventually the brown gerbil developed gray hair.

A friend was having a horrible day - the cat had run away from home 24 hours earlier, the dog had to be put down (cancer), and right before the -very sensitive - middle child left for school, he found the goldfish sleeping upside down in the fishbowl.

I reminded my friend, that that was why goldfish were cheap.

(So far, the kid hasn't a clue...)

If he has claws, he’s a lizard. Count his fingers. He should have as many as you.

I found my cat’s stash the other day. She had hoarded 10 mice stuffies and 42 Q-tips. Silly cat. And she hates thunder.

>_< That's no good. I keep little mesh cups in the sink drains (both sides) to make sure nothing ends up down the drain that doesn't belong there.

Count his fingers? I never see him for more than a millisecond!

I have never needed them before. Now I wish I had them. I can't put them on now though, or I might trap him down there. I have an absolutely irrational fear of putting my hand down in there to check  I know, rationally, that it's ridiculous, but I just can't do it!

Could you lower a tasty tidbit on a string and "fish" him out?

Well that was different! We had three earthquakes last night. A very small one (3.2) about 9 PM, and another pair at 11:30 and 11:50 (4.1 and 4.0). Didn't notice the first one at all, but the later pair, wow! We were just drifting off and the room rolled. Several of our friends mentioned it on FB, too. I was in San Francisco for a 4.6 many years ago, so I knew what was happening, but didn't expect it here.

We had one in Texas years ship. I was in a tall building and it shook. I thought a boiler exploded  never expected an earthquake here!
