Greetings from the ER.

So. J got me a new knife for Christmas and today I used it for the first time. Somehow, I'm not quite sure how, I managed to slice my wrist open with it when I tried to crush garlic cloves. Yes. Wrist. The cut wasn't huge, but it was deep enough and bled like crazy, so I had to get stiches. I really hope it doesn't leave a scar, because if it does, it's gonna look like I've tried to off myself and haven't even had the good sense to cut along the arm instead of across.

I hope you're ok, seela. :rose: I think I'm going to be extra careful the next time I crush garlic. (>_<)

Seela, first of all, glad you are ok!

Secondly, I believe you should invent several stories as to how this happened, and tell different versions to differ people :D Involve J in the story. He can be the instigator, your saviour, etc etc. Perhaps a wildcat, or a knife welding maniac! Fun fun! And anything but... I was crushing garlic :p

Good that it wasn't worse.

But now the knife has had a taste of you, and will serve you forever.

(Or it likes the taste, and wants more :D)

Oh, no! That sucks. I'm glad you're ok, though.

(I can sorta sympathize about the placement. I have two scars, one on the inside of each arm, up near the elbow. One came from me accidentally cutting myself on a piece of glass, and the other came from me burning the crap out of myself on a cookie sheet I'd just taken out of the oven. Given how high up they are and the fact that they're both horizontal, it looks like a particularly inept self-offing attempt. )

I hope you heal quick and don't end up with a scar! :rose:

My blurt for the day:

Why in the world has it become a thing for bras to have incredibly short shoulder straps? I have never had this problem until recently. And I don't mean "oh, they dig a little." I'm talking about when the band is fastened around me, the straps are too short for me to even pull them up on my shoulders at all.

So frustrating, especially since my bra size is so ridiculous that they don't carry it in stores. I end up having to order stuff just to try it on and then send it back when the straps are invariably too short.

Sooo exactly how horrible am I, that my first reaction to this was a very dark chuckle? Because yes, my instant reaction was a morbid suicide-humor snortchucklelaugh. Followed by "Dammit. That's like another 6 years in purgatory." Followed by thankfulness it wasn't worse, because damn wrists bleed like crazy, don't they? Almost as bad as a head wound!

I would so make up crazy-ass stories about it, though. Just to screw with the people who occasionally question my mental stability...

Every time I need a reasonable length shoulder strap for someone, I can't find it (in a bra that otherwise fits).

Every time I need a shorter length shoulder strap for someone I can't find it (in a bra that otherwise fits).

Too-long shoulder straps can be altered down; too short straps... not so much. I don't even recommend certain styles/brands for clients over 5'6", because there's just.no.point. (sigh)

Maybe I should invent a lingerie collection specifically for people who need longer-than-average shoulder straps?

Thanks guys. :rose:

I'm gonna have to come up with a good story if I end up with a scar. Maybe a home invader? Or our cat went manic and tried to kill me?

CM, don't feel bad for laughing. Morbid suicide humor is right up my alley, and the moment it became apparent that I'm not gonna die we started to joke about suicide too.

Didn't J hurt himself cooking a while ago too?

If you need to explain the scar, you could always go with: I got it because I was asking too personal questions about other peoples scars.

Yes he did! We've visited the ER 3 times this year, which is 75% of the total amount of our ER visits during the time we've been together.

It's been a crazy year in so many ways. I'm ready for it to be over already.

Burning the candle at both ends as I have been is not healthy. The upside is exhaustion has been a good cure for depression. The downside is the little bits of sleep I'm able to catch are never enough.

I feel kind of 'blah' right now. Not unhappy but maybe like I'm in a rut. The weirdest rut. And there's a prank being pulled on me by my body.

Just when the snuggles and gropes were getting good, the girl knocks on the door, reminding me of a ride she needs to a thing. We get to said thing and she realizes that it's not until tomorrow.

I told her I would take out my sexual frustration on her in cranky ways. She had the very good sense to blush, once she did the math. (Not to mention the idea that old people having sex freaks her out. Bwahahaha!) I salted the wound by pointing out that tomorrow I would be much less frustrated when I picked her up. :D

Oh, please do. Or an entire fashion collection, even. I'm 5'10" and all torso. I never have trouble finding pants to fit, but bras, shirts, jackets, shapewear, and all that stuff is a freaking nightmare. :(

I have gorilla arms, I feel your pain! I gave up on actual long sleeves with buttoned cuffs when I was about 15, unless I was sewing for myself.

The solution for too-short straps is to find matching elastic at a good corsetry supplier, cut out the original, and add your own.

Oh, God, I have gorilla arms and hands, too! And incredibly broad shoulders, to boot. I have to buy nearly all my coats (two sizes too big) in the big and tall men's department!

See, I know I should do that. But I'm pretty sure I won't, if for no other reason than I can't sew to save my life.

Seems like the obvious new years resolution for next year would be to try to stay out of the ER.:D

A crazy year in many ways, yes. Just feels like I've said that about every year, for a few years now.
I used to think that middle age would be kind of smooth sailing.
Ha!

She got the knife from J.
I think she should name the knife J, and then if anyone asks what happened...
"J tried to kill me."
:p

Hm... I still can't decide if it's good or bad. Still in the 'blah' stage. It would be nice if my body would stop contradicting my mind.

I think when your mind starts contradicting your body is when the real trouble begins :p

:sigh: After last night's dream I think my brain is finally broken...

Blurt:

Mister had me come up with New Year's resolutions even though I'm not much for following them and rarely actually have any. So here they are:

1. Lose 5lbs
2. Finally get my flexibility where I want it
3. Say "no" more and not feel bad about it
