The New Isolated Blurt BDSM Thread

I just realized that I hadn't changed my av from the holiday one back to the normal one. Oops.

When life makes you want to look down, paint a ceiling or three. We have some greenish blue that should look like the sky somewhere I used to live for my bedroom, and some summer blue for our gloomy hallway. It will look bizarre. :). I'm considering a yellow stair runner, who doesn't need a yellow brick road to follow? G thinks a neutral would be best though, for the road less travelled... I said maybe something traditional and of the Middle East as a compromise, but G thinks it might look like an old public house.

And repaint, or leave ( and keep) stripping......all opinions welcome. The paint here is as bad as trying to strip old beams, The door, so far, has taken me a few years of idle stripping, and fortnight of fairly dedicated stripping. It still doesn't look so hot, I don't mind partially stripped...but this doesn't look like that...I cN still see no real wood.... A sort of tan wood coloured gunk. I don't want to dip it, its not so young a door, and doesn't fit so well the door way it was made for as is! Dipped might make it worse, plus, is put filler in the front and painted it already:D

Oh my! That door has stories to tell! I can understand wanting to tidy it up, but at the same time you just can't put character like that on a new door.

I'm not sure I understand the problem with 'looking like an old public(k) house' either. But I'm a touch quirky, I suspect. ;)

May I make a suggestion?

If you're going to make a list of things to be done, set the thermostat higher than 60. I'm going to need to be able to move and I can't do that if I'm covered in layers lying in the fetal position shaking.

This is the first time I'm involved with somebody who uses names like "honey" or "sweety" about me instead of using my name or a nickname derived from my name.

I feel strangely conflicted.

I hear G use my name so rarely it is peculiar to me when he uses it. I have many diminutives from different people. Some I like more than others. My name of birth is almost never used by people who know me who care for me. If I get a call for that person I think its the tax man or my doctor. :D

Same here! I have three first names, and when I hear my "official" one I know the person knows me not at all :)

Same here. The first name on my birth certificate is not and has never been what I'm called. Even before I was born, my parents knew they were going to name me x and call me y. When someone calls me my "real" name, rather than the one I go by, it's nearly always for some sort of "official" purpose.

I don't mind either name, TBH. People seem to understand my "real" name better over the phone, so I tend to use it, rather than having to spell my nickname (that might as well be my real name) or repeat it over and over again. Except for then and the aforementioned official purposes, I do prefer the name I go by to everyone else. I'm just more used to being referred to that way.

Also, if I've told you to call me by the name I generally use, don't call me by my real name. I have a couple of friends who do this, and it's so annoying. Like, that's not what I told you to call me.

My mom was named for her mom, with my grandmother using their first name and Mom using their middle name. For most of her life everyone knew Mom that way...until she got social security and medicare. Her name on both of those cards is her first name. Her doctors referred to her cards and it took her quite a while to learn to answer. (Oh, the irony that they were worried about memory problems when they first met her instead of later on.)

So I was talking to a friend of mine who has gotten more involved in her local kink scene. She was talking about a domme (female dom, for those not in the know), and she pronounced it domme', like resume' - [dom-Ay].

In my head, I've always pronounced "dom" and "domme" the same way, but I admittedly haven't interacted with many female PYLs in real life.

Can someone tell me who's right?

I've always pronounced it the same way you do. I've never heard it pronounced any other way.

I have grey hairs. They don't bother me, I'm getting to that point in life.

The grey hairs do not have the habit of shedding like my thin, brunette hairs do. I was looking forward to the possibility of a luscious, full head of hair even if it was grey.

Today I found a grey hair in my hair brush. Disappointing.
