Podcasts? Does anybody have any suggestions? I don't listen to them really. What's good?

I like The Infinite Monkey Cage. Science and fun. Definitely not dry or pedantic. Some episodes.. What is the point of Plants? Deception. Serendipity. Speed. AI. Irrationality. So much to choose from, they are into their 13th season. And I have a secret crush on Brian Cox :D Ok, not so secret to anyone who knows me

I am trying to think through pronunciation.

Its a word I have said only in English.

Dominatrice, Dominatrix. . I would probably use not the abbreviated form in all languages speaking until I knew someone. How does the Spanish take at the end? Trix?

I know a couple people called Dom for an abbreviation of for name, so sometimes if I think about it I think it feels a little non PYL to me anyhow. If I were to abbreviate Domme I think in English naturally it would be To linger on the M sound. It sounds a little pretentious in whole English speaking company, a little like people who are only English speaking and say they are going to a rester-wrong for supper. My next natural inclination is not 'Dommay' but A bounce off m. I am waiting for G to come upstairs so I can try speaking to him to see.

Edit: so G doesn't know, because he hasn't used bdsm terms in Italian! :D. See how naive we are, lol. We experimented, G thinks either ending can work in Italy , in the same ( attempt to spell as sound...) dominatritcheh

For Domme, in Italian he thinks the M is not a bounce naturally for him but a sit, so my heavy sit might be an Italian influence. What I am trying to think to as an equivalent is words I used in both languages a lot....and the similar conversations. Piaffe. Piaff in English English , piaffe with a bounce also, French, Piaff heavy on the f Italian, I am thinking PIaf, in American English, where I never used it.

Bi bunny, would you know this?

Probably not, LOL.

No idea on "piaffe," TBH. It's one of those words that even though I know what it means, I've never had to say out loud. Or heard anyone else say, either, really. I used to ride a lot, but never in dressage circles, alas. I suspect you're probably right about the American pronunciation, though.

What kinds of podcasts do you think you'd be interested in? I don't follow a ton of them, but I'd hate to recommend something you have no interest in whatsoever! :p

Such a sensible girl :rose:

Haha, see, I always thought I chose the worst discipline in the history of ever to ride in: Tennessee Walking Horse shows. God help me. That did such a number on me there at the end that I told myself if I ever decide to ride competitively again, it'll never be in another judged sport. Hypothetically, if I feet like I needed to do it again, I'd like to learn show jumping.

That sounds fun! I'm going to look into it. (^^)/~~~ Thank you.

Hm... I downloaded a language podcast because I didn't know what to choose and there were so many. So... Educational? Though... Now I'm thinking fashionable something wouldn't be bad either.

:)

Thanks all... dom-ay does sound odd to me, but I didn't know if it sounded odd just because of the way I've always pronounced it in my head or if there was more to it.

Walkers are so elegant! I see nothing wrong here. :D

I did junior jumper class for a few years, it was wonderful! I think that's when I learned to be mellow about bruising. ;) I worked at the stable to earn my lessons (mucking stalls and mending tack) but had to quit the whole thing when we discovered that my chronic "bronchitis" was really asthma. :( I cried for weeks.

I totally feel you on this.

Before I started taking allergy shots when I was twenty, my hay allergy was so bad that I had to stand outside the barn and let someone else tack up whatever horse I was going to ride for me (which I hated because I was a Real Rider, OK?). Then I had to do my best to ride and not touch my face before washing my hands, which is a lot harder than you'd think. If I didn't do it, though, my eyes would swell completely shut...and the sneezing. Oh, God, the sneezing.

So I was talking to a friend of mine who has gotten more involved in her local kink scene. She was talking about a domme (female dom, for those not in the know), and she pronounced it domme', like resume' - [dom-Ay].

In my head, I've always pronounced "dom" and "domme" the same way, but I admittedly haven't interacted with many female PYLs in real life.

Can someone tell me who's right?

I have friends who pronounce it dom-Ay. I've been a dom-mie girl myself, but I tend to put ie on a lot of things. The only female PYLs I've spoken to in person do not shorten it and introduce themselves as a dominatrix.

OMFG, Master got me yelling at (for?) a football game tonight!

I don't dislike the game, I just don't understand very much about it. My school played soccer instead, so I never got to learn about it like most American teens.

And they won, so now I have to watch another game. Yikes!

Feeling very "blah" today and don't know why. I have things to do and I just want to hide under the covers.

So I showed my pic to someone today. Their comment? "OMG the bags under your eyes are so cute!"

That was not a joke, btw. I didn't really know how to react. :D

Another legendary comment I've heard about how I look is from J on one of our first nights together. "You look so cute when the lights are off." He meant well, though.

So I don't know. I'm a baggy eyed swamp monster that's cute in the dark?

Weird day all in all.

O_O

You're very pretty. :rose:

I've received some backhanded compliments. Like, "You look good with earrings. You're one of those girls that looks better with earrings." (-。-;

I had a complex about wearing earrings after that.

Thanks. :rose:

It was a weird comment for sure. At least J understood straight away how odd his comment about how I look sounded, laughed about it and explained. This person didn't say anything else. It was funny, but also left me feeling kind of bad.

The sad thing is that the pic I showed was one that I actually like. I remember feeling pretty that day. Not so much anymore.

I can understand the earring complex so well. I'm sure they didn't mean anything by it but somehow it's always so easy to interpret everything in the most negative way possible. You're pretty with or without earrings. :)

I remember what you both look like. You are both pretty. Seela, are you feeling tired? If you have got eye bags, perhaps you could consider a cream for this, some are very good, but you are fresh faced and lovely looking. Meek, don't pick up hang ups because of others' foot in mouth problem, do YOU like earrings? If so wear them for good ness sake, if not, don't wear them, ever. ;)

I have always had eye bags. It's just a feature I have and no amount of sleeping or creams is ever taking them away. Trust me, I've tried.
