The NEW UK Kink Thread

Actually, that reminds me; must top up the bird feeders tonight, the local woodpeckers usually start to show up about now.
My birdfeeder hasn't been touched in ages :( I'm wondering where all the spring birds are, or is there something keeping them away from my garden.

I had loads before Xmas

I noticed at the weekend there are still a few berries on the holy. It's incredible to get berries to Christmas for decoration, not seen them in march before. I think it's been so mild that there is much on the bushes and fields and trees.
Ah, that's a good point. The gardens round by me are all blooming and there are midges everywhere as well.

Oh, horrible little things! I hate it when you're sitting out on a nice evening, then you look up, and ......

Boo, whilst I have got better, Master is still unwell and battling :(. And I feel guilty for feeling better even though that is silly. And then I can't be with him again until the weekend. Our plans for the weekend gone out the window, but that's ok, they can happen another time. I want to be with him and look after him, although not sure I will do that very well :(

It's so good to be looked after, just being there and putting in the effort is something.

Chicken soup...something we vastly underrate in this country, is incredible restorative food for most ailments, on a beautifully laid tray, it helps a surprising amount. ( bought is better than none, Covent garden soup company...? )

Thank you Elle, yes chicken soup is very good stuff. Noted :)

Well our big work event went well yesterday. Excellent actually.
And now... it's Friday! Kinky Disco night in London town:nana:

Hi everyone - hope you're all well. I've finished work for a couple of weeks so I'm looking forward to recharging my very depleted batteries :D xx

Me too! I should be sleeping - got to be in Birmingham for 9.30 tomorrow....hope the M6 is kind!

Think I'd better turn in, likely to be woken about 6:30 by crazed 7 year old leaping on my head! Catch you later :D

Hiya UKers. :)

I figured this would be a good thread to ask about the approx. cost of living in London. How much would you have to pay rent for a decent apartment in London in which you wouldn't nearly freeze to death come winter (although I realize this might be a lot to ask for)? One bedroom, preferably decent kitchen, less than 1 hour commute to City.

City as in square mile?

Can I suggest looking at the websites right move.co.uk and prime location.com for an idea. An hour actually gives quite good scope to get cheaper accommodation, especially if following train lines a swell as considering tube lines....would a commuter town be acceptable for example? It's worth considering how much weight is prepared to be spent on rent versus travel. :). It can take an hour or so to cross London depending on connections and locations, so if the end destination is known, follow routes from that station terminal/ tube station.

Yes, City as in square mile (didn't know it was called that too! :)).

I'll take a look at the sites, thanks.

Right move might be more useful. If it's a square mile move ask employers about their input for contract lets and relocations, They might be prepared to be negotiated on this even if it's not policy, getting someone on the ground for a search through contacts and other forms of advertising.

Most 'official' lets will appear on right move, but contacts might come up with something else.

If it's a square mile move for you or yours maybe there could be a meet up involved?

It's all very tentative, just trying to find out some numbers to help along the decision making. :)
