The NEW UK Kink Thread

Busy week this week. Going to a concert tonight with Master. I think it will be very loud :D

Enjoy, Live music is nearly always fun, there is a buzz, an atmosphere

Yes, agreed, and there certainly was! One very good supporting act, one ok supporting act and then fabulous main act. Enthusiastic punters and a packed venue. A fun night.

Well good for you Lucy.

Glad you had a fabulous evening...

Listening to some prog rock as we chat :)

Never been to a gig in the first place. Instead I wallow in self misery and existential uncertainty.
That's what all the hip chic and cool kids do these days.

Also I can't figure out where the "upload avatar" button is.
Please help me my fellow limeys.

Afternoon all.

First off, get thee to a gig forthwith - it's the best antidote to existential uncertainty known to man. When you're concentrating on not being under the next beer that is thrown, and then merely hoping that it is actually just beer....it takes your mind off things :D

And secondly, go to User CP and look down the left hand side. There's an 'Edit Avatar' function there. Enjoy :D

Edit: you need to have 100 posts before you can upload an avatar, so go play on the word game threads to get your count up with the least amount of effort..

Hi Consilience, welcome aboard :)

Can't beat a good gig; big bands, small bands, stadium gigs, back bar gigs where you're not sure the place isn't going to collapse: done 'em all. Quite fond of smaller venues with a more intimate atmosphere, but I think that's more as I've gotten older . Besides, don't the kids these days ever come out of the Apollo after the encore, miss the last train home, then decide to walk it 'cos it's only 18 miles.....?? (Well, it seemed a good idea at the time )

There should be an 'Edit Avatar' tab on the left side of your profile that lets you upload one, but only appears after a certain number of posts. Thought it was 50, but I could be wrong.

Hi Lally, you got in just before me :D. Haha, I remember those gigs!!! A bunch of us went to see Living Colour years ago at the Royal Court in Liverpool, and one of the less 'experienced' of the girls with us wandered down to the front just before they came on and all the moshing started. Guess who had to wade in and drag the poor panicking soul out by the hair?? We both got out alive - just haha :D

Eek! That does sound alarming! We deliberately avoided standing at the front to avoid the excited moshing. Otherwise I would have as I am short sighted and it is nice to be able to see a bit of the live band I have gone there especially to see.

It was a small venue and I think I prefer that. Of course I hope the band is really successful and moves on to bigger venues, but still...

Because I'm quite short, I've always managed to end up at the front of every gig I've ever been to, just to be able to see :D. It does get extremely frenetic, and if you don't like your personal space invading, then I wouldn't recommend it! But, for me, it's an integral part of the live experience.

I love being close enough to the band to watch the skill, the unspoken interplay between the members, and to see how they read each other during the set. Songs that are dull and flat on a recording can take on a completely new feel in a live set when the adrenaline has kicked in for the band.

And being in the midst of a horde of passionate fans who are singing along, dancing and cheering, can really cheer me up. Yes, I've had a few physical altercations but I've learnt how to survive :D

Today has felt a very hard day. No reason for it. The sun shone, strong enough to have considered a summer dress ( with a cardigan, ) though I didn't, I stayed in my warm jumper and wrapped up to the ankles. then the rain fell heavily and beautifully, My heart seemed to ache with the strength of the rainfall.

Sometimes it's nice to wrap up all snug and warm and watch the rain, or even go walking in it. There's a difference to the rain at this time of year, like you can feel the promise of new life in it. Almost as if you can sense winter and summer changing shifts.

I love walking in the rain, well, most of the time. I love the happy abandonment of not caring if it messes up my hair or make up or makes some clothes so wet I have to change out of them when I get home.

Sounds a real free spirit! Do you find wet cloths can sort of form an inner warm squelchy layer. But this afternoon I was on the garage roof in the rain It was not exactly the joys of walking in the rain! But the view was good!

Did the whole being a tourist in London today, showing an overseas guest around :D

Open top bus around all the central sights. Good day. Now tired

Spent a lovely day yesterday alone in the Lake District. Drove up to Windemere then got the boat from Bowness to Ambleside. The weather was really sunny but cold, so I walked up to the waterfalls at the top of the village before finding lunch and heading back across the lake. When the kids were small, we took holidays there and I sat for a while on a bench that we used to walk to each evening, looking out towards the Langdales in the distance. It's my 'happy place'!

When I was young, my brother did an exchange with a European student whose response to everything we ate or did was 'we have this in my country, only better.' The only time I remember him lost for words was when we took him to the lakes :D

Hi Lally, it's been ages since I've been up there, but I know exactly where you mean :). Must get around to taking the little fella, and do Beartrix Potter's cottage to show him the places from the books.
