The NEW UK Kink Thread

No run for me today - Sunday is a day of rest :)

I've just tried holding the bridge of my nose and can't feel a pulse? Should I be concerned? :D

Oh! The way you said it, I thought you meant resting after a morning run. Misunderstandings are too easy on the interwebs.

Most likely no. :D I feel a strong steady beat on the right side, so more than likely it's just weirdos like me that are the exception. I also can feel my blood flowing through my feet and lower legs. I used to think I was feeling slight earth tremors until I found out what it really was (blood flow).

My business partner used to be the same - he could feel his own heart beating which must have been very wearing after a while :).

Morning all - really cold here this morning. My staff are tossing coins about who is going to work upstairs because it's so cold and the heating hasn't kicked in yet! We'd optimistically turned it off at the weekend....

Tired today - daughter was wandering about in the night because she couldn't sleep, so not feeling too lively yet. Hoping that a couple of strong cups of coffee will lift the cotton wool feeling from my head

Morning all.

Another week, another Monday.

Hope the heating kicks in before there is a revolt Lally.

Morning All
Very busy weekend, gigging on Saturday and the Twisted Market on Sunday. Best market ever! The place was packed, Aemilia and I did a flogging demo which proved very popular with the crowd and resulted in us both getting lots of sales. We are going to stage things like this in the future. Def a long way from Del Boy's market trading!

Brighton was full of police, the EDL were doing a protest march, so you can imagine how well that went down when we found out. The police were good and kept them well away. We had pointed out that the building would be full of kinky sadists, the police laughed, especially when we showed them some of the "toys" that were on sale.

We are having another flogging workshop on 5th October, all welcome :)

I am absolutely knackered today, but I need to get up and make some more stock for LFF in 2 weeks!

Neeeeeeed bacon!

Hmmmmm.... Bacon

Alas, no bacons for me today. Glad the weekend went well Daisy!

How on earth do. I get my daughter to do her homework?
She is being absolutely stroppy every time she is asked to do anything. Grrrrrrrrrrrrr

Not knowing your daughter or her instructor(s), it's almost impossible to offer specific advice. However, having been a teacher and a parent, one thing that comes to mind is to wonder if she cares about failing or being seen to fail. If so, one possible course of action is to clearly lay the responsibility - and the consequences - on her. If she doesn't perform appropriately, she fails (the assignment or the term), and that is her responsibility and hers alone. Of course, if she doesn't care... :(

Sir W, I believe she has undiagnosed ADD, she finds it very difficult to stay on task, and even the things she enjoys and is engaged with, she talks constantly. She actually doesn't realise that she is doing it.
When she doesn't want to do something, I am met with a brick wall.
She is a very bright child, her knowledge is astounding, but she can't seem to make it work for herself at school :(
She has recently got an IEP, other kids are ostracising her because she talks to them at inappropriate times and gets them in trouble.
Lots going on in her head, she is constantly in motion.

We managed to get it done in the end, but that was hard and traumatic work :(

Local press was well up for stopping that march but they always go were they are least welcome.

Cops love kinky people after all who does more to develop the next generation of restraints and how many of them do you think have never used there cuffs off duty? Also local law says Brighton cops have to be at least a little bit cool.

Twisted market is amazing trying to save some money in hope of maybe going during fetish weekend last year was bit skint still most of weekend could do was fantastic.

Aww I won't be there! I am doing the DV8 fetiish festival that weekend. Camping and kink. Will be back in Brighton for August, Pride week special.

Well sounds like your be having plenty of fun anyway. May have to go to the market another time anyway making plans with depression and panic attacks don't always work. I love Brighton but sometimes so big and frightening

This issue, I've seen air-actuated microphone/earphones that essentially amplify what the wearer says, to herself, and *makes* her aware. If she's willing to wear them (they're not terribly obtrusive), she can train herself out of the habit.
When she doesn't want to do something, I am met with a brick wall.
Not unusual with adolescents - sorry, no suggestions.

Testing difficulties/anxiety, or, as is quite common with children intellectually ahead of their peers/classwork programs, boredom?
She has recently got an IEP, other kids are ostracising her because she talks to them at inappropriate times and gets them in trouble.
Does the IEP have specific plans to deal with her specific issues, or does it merely say that SHE needs to work on those issues? IEPs in most states here are required to list the issues and specify how the teacher(s) *and* student need to work together to address them. If she's with/near the same other children all day, perhaps a counselor or teacher could explain to them that she's not *trying* to get them in trouble, but sometimes forgets when it's appropriate to talk to them and when it's not, and give them a signal (finger to lips, etc.) to give her at those "wrong" times.
Lots going on in her head, she is constantly in motion.
Yeah, that sounds kinda like one or another variation of ADD. Perhaps it's time to insist on a thorough assessment...

We managed to get it done in the end, but that was hard and traumatic work :(
Bless you for your patience. I've been ADD/ADHD since before I learned to read at age three, and it's given me grief for all those 61 years since, because there was no diagnosis or treatment for it until I was 50 or so...

The headphones sound an interesting idea, I will see if I can get some.
Her IEP has to do with specific targets, no real strategies have been put in place. I see she is very much a visual learner, her school doesn't cater too well for kids who don't fit the norm.
I am used to differently able kids, my son has Down Syndrome, iep's are a way of life here!

The thing that concerns me, if she was to get a dx of ADD, she wouldn't get any more help, she isn't bad enough for meds and having that particular label may be a negative thing.

Tbh, I feel the education system here, puts too much pressure on kids way too early, and don't make allowances for kids who don't quite fit the norm

Then come to DV8, it's outdoors, in the country, there is space and all the market stalls you would get at brighton

Yeah maybe dv8 would be a better idea been long time since been camping but only got public transport so depends where it is and how easy to get there. But also want to try catch up with some people met last year.

I'm dyslexic so got to see how clueless schools can be most of what I learned came from finding my own interests that included learning. I know its not the same thing but sometimes if can find the right method to inspire too push to overcome. Sorry thats kind of pointless

Morning

Settling in for a day of paperwork and a bit more house reorganising.

Laundry is on, kettle is on.... might need some food though.

Hope everyone else is ok?

Morning all.

Sorry about your daughter, Daisy - it sounds like she needs more support than the school are currently giving her. Unfortunately, our education system puts teachers under pressure to produce 'results' rather than cater to each child's needs and abilities. It's not good practice for either IMVHO.

Daughter is sick today, so hubby is at home looking after her. She was under the weather last night - very tired (which is unlike her), sniffly, headachey, bit warm - so probably a day in bed is what she needs. She was coughing a lot during the night though, so we all had disturbed sleep - I'm relying on stress and coffee to keep me awake

Had a dogbite-free run yesterday though - no hamstring niggles so that was a relief.

Hope we all have a good day.

Hidey ho neighbors!
Glad to hear the dog run was free Lally. Hope your daughter is doing better today.

Say, I'm going to ask a favor of one of you. Could you help me phonetically define a Scottish accent?

I think I got "My wee bairns" pretty down pat thanks to Star Trek.

I'm trying to figure how to put a couple of sentences together:

"Whair is Reg? Ah’ll just ask hym then" (Where is Reg? I'll ask him then.)
and
"Then whut du you want me to du?" (then what do you want me to do?)

Any ideas or suggestions?
(Be polite now!) :D

I think you need to find some Scottish posters to help you! There are one or two around, so hopefully one of them will offer. If you needed a Lancashire, Liverpool or Manchester accent, I could pitch in, but Scottish is beyond my feeble capabilities.

Had a tough night last night, so tired again this morning. Hope everyone's day goes well.

Sorry, I can't help much either - but you should be aware that talking about a Scottish accent is like talking about an American one - there's lots of variation. Also what you've got there will probably do fine for a generic representation.

You could try hunting down some discussion boards dealing with Scots dialect - it's not unusual for people to write in the vernacular - Also maybe read some Burns - Worth doing whether you use it or not :)

*edit* This might help

Lol yes, you would have to specify which region of Scotland, Edinburgh and Glasgow are completely different, and geographically not far apart.

I can do Saarf Lunden! :D

Nothing much to report, feeling very tired. Have to get my butt into gear and do some work.

Xxxxxx

Morning all.

I think I am slowly getting a grip back on this house. Its almost habitable.

Hope the rest of you are doing ok?

LWulf

Try adding "Ach" (like phlegm) in at the the start of some of the sentences to give it that Scottish feel

"Ach, mah poor wee bairns"

But don't over use it or you'll just sound like you're recovering from a bad chest cold.
