The Official Valentine’s Day Contest Support Thread 2026

After a long time between writing stories, I have finally finished one for a contest. After many years of dealing with ADHD, I finally decided to do something about it. Perhaps the meds have helped a little to get me motivated to finish something for once. All I have done is write in spurts, then get distracted. A new idea will suddenly usurp the previous one. I have repeated this cycle for years and have a load of unfinished stories. It feels good to complete something, even if it falls flat. It is a step forward, instead of staying stuck in the mud.

I have not written a true love story, but was inspired from a discussion with my local film club about the much maligned Madame Web film. Boy, they hated that movie. lol Yet, I love origin stories and I actually enjoyed that part of the film the most. So, I decided to write an origin love story about an iconic character. Hopefully, it will not come across as too hokey. Hopefully, it will be accepted in time for the contest as I just submitted it.🤞

Good luck! Well done on completing your piece.

Well done! And your Liteortica ND membership card is scheduled for delivery 😊

Are you suggesting that there is a list of VD stories with the categories included? If so, I am not seeing it.
Clicking on the 'Explore' icon at the top of the home page shows a dropdown, and the first item listed is 'Categories.' Clicking on that opens a page titled 'Erotic Stories, Categories, and More.' There are links to basically every part of Literotica. Under the heading of Erotic Stories, the third link is to the Val's Day contest stories. That's the same list as elsewhere, it does not show each story's category. This just makes the list accessible from another link. Until a few days ago, there was still a link to the Winter Holidays story list.

For a while, when I logged in I was sent to the Categories page, and never saw the home page. I now make a point of going to the home page also. If other people also had that arrangement (log in to Categories), they might never see the story list for the current contest. Now, they can.

Shit! I didn’t notice. I should have chased that 😬

People don't like the TV show 'Emily in Paris' very much.

And on Literotica, they seem to like my story 'Emily in Perth' even less.

I had a work in progress that I decided to modify to make it themed for the Valentine's Day contest this year.

I have submitted stories for this contest in prior years, and advise everyone to take a longer-term perspective on the success of their entries. Views, ratings, and comments during a contest period are typically significantly different than once the contest is over and a story is relegated to existence among everything else published here.

My entry, which I intend to submit later today, is going to be interesting. First, it will be submitted into the "Celebrities/Fan Fiction" category, which is new for me where contests are concerned. The story will be part of an existing series in which only one of the stories has more than 10,000 views, so my expectations will be adjusted accordingly.

Secondly, the series in which the story will be placed has demonstrated the tendency of readers to like or dislike the story based largely on their personal loyalty to the particular celebrity and the fictional depiction of same. (Apparently, reading about Angie Harmon giving a blow job irked some of her fans, but Michelle Pfeiffer losing her virginity is a hit with hers). The celebrity in this story has a rather pure and innocent public image (which is key to the plot), so we'll see how readers accept her fictional antics.

Finally, the story will be almost 19K words long. Not ideal for any contest entry, but over time, after the contest is over, I expect that it will fare just fine.

I share your perspective. Contests put your story in front of readers who otherwise would never have seen it, usually resulting in an uptick of followers. I'm sure that most of us would love to have more followers not just as a boon to our egos, but because they lead to more views and very often a higher base average for your scores.

If you win, that effect is turbocharged. I nearly doubled my followers after winning the Winter Holiday contest in 2024. And your story will be permanently listed on the contest winner lists, and be more available to new readers for years to come.

Plus, you get a little bit of dough to spend on yourself...

So. I'm doing the unthinkable: planning to enter two stories. The second one will be unconventional, and I plan to submit sometime today. It was a story that wouldn't let me rest until I started; once begun, it wouldn't let me rest until I wrote it. This no longer happens to me that often.

Here's the thing: there's no fuckscene. It's a dinner conversation between two former lovers. So while there is much reminiscence about the taste of scrotums, or the way she hung onto him while he ate her out, or the number of orgasms they both had, there's no direct sex in the story. It will end on an ambiguously uplifting note, where true love is evident.

I need some advice: romance? Or non-erotic? I've submitted to the former before, but never really the latter. Does Romance require fluid exchange, is my basic question. These two won't even kiss during the piece.

Why would this be unthinkable? I’ve often submitted more than one story to a contest, and lots of other people do, too.

You’ve mentioned lots of descriptions of sex acts and based on how you write I am sure lots of people will find it erotic. So, definitely not non-erotic.

So have I, frequently. I was being sarcastic.:nana:

Thank you!

I'm not experienced in that category. I was thinking, crudely, that a story with no possibility of getting the reader off might belong there.

I've done romance, and the readers there are great, and that's where I think this one belongs... but, again, there's no direct passion in the story. I wouldn't want anyone to feel baited-and-switched.

Sounds like Romance to me.
