The Official Weather Thread

Clearly there's no pleasing me when it comes to weather. It was great that it was warm in the morning when I left, but riding a bike uphill in the afternoon when it's 28C/82F isn't much fun.

I think I need to move to Reykjavik.

Rather unbearable in Germany today too.
Cant remember when was the last time I took a cold shower for no other reason but the weather outside.

I hate to think what will Croatia be like when I finally hit the road home. With my luck the cohorts of tourists will completely block the road for hours once I get there

Wow, it's hotter there than it is here today.

One heartbreakingly perfect spring day. I frolicked outside at the preserve. Deer, hello. Muskrat, hello. Giant gaggle of male redstarts, swallows, egrets, hello hello.

Today 50's raining raining raining. It really REALLY feels personal.

The weather is screwed up, I say. In winter you had my cold and now I have your heat. At least today it shouldn't get above 25C/77F, which is the sort of magical temperature here that people always talk about. If it's over that, it's officially "helle" (the word, incidentally, has nothing to do with hell, but it probably should, it just means hot weather). Yesterday it got over 30C/86F at places, too. That's rare here and hasn't happened in May in like 50 years.

Luckily the sea's still cold, so it keeps the temperatures down, or at least the sea breezes cool and lovely. And it's light, so, so light. Sun's up at 4:30, sun sets at 10. So that's a definite plus. :)

But yeah, I could never live in a place, where temperatures like that were the norm. Although I guess if they were, air conditioning wouldn't be such a rarity as it is here now, which would make the temperature a bit more palatable.

The weather has been insane in the past year or so.

I think the high here was 77F/25C or so today. It's not particularly unseasonal or anything, but last week--when my fucking air conditioner died--it was closer to 90F/32C. It was only a couple of degrees cooler than that in my house. I thought I was going to die, and it took 5 days to get it fixed because it died on a Friday afternoon, and the rental company didn't send anyone to fix it 'til Wednesday.

So, yeah, you definitely have to have an air conditioner when it's that hot. Especially when it's as damned humid as it always is here. I won't bitch about it too much, though, because it's fall and winter that I hate, not spring and summer.

Hope you can stay cool up there! :)

It's so hot hot hot. Yet another day of 28C/82F.

Hot weather is so much worse than cold. When it's cold, you can always put on more clothes and crank up the heating. When it's hot, there's only so much you can take off and having no air conditioner makes the apartment the third circle of hell. The inside temperature at the moment is 29C. Not fun.

Grumble grumble.

The inside temperature at the moment is 29C.

It is not only about numbers. I am fine with 35-38°C when I am by the sea and the weather is dry. 27°C+ up north with high humidity literally makes me sick.

The summer's been really weird. It's either unseasonably cold (hello, we had snow on June 21st, I kid you not) or ridiculously hot. Now we're back at the hot phase.

It's 9:15 and it's already +26C/78F.

Heatwave here too.
I like it though. Even the ocean temperature is getting comfortable.

Bringing this back to whine about the fact that it looks like we're going to have our first frost of the fall this weekend.

*Sob* Where did you goooooo, summer? :(

I can beat that. I heard them forecasting snow for Hallowe'en.

It is 49 fucking degrees outside (9C).

I hate everything.

It was 37 outside when we woke up this morning. I probably should have turned on the heater, before going to bed last night.

Oops.

But we really are in my favorite season - 40s/ upper 30s overnight, and 60s during the day. The Short Humans and I spent the afternoon wandering around a local festival, and the weather was damn near perfect.

In theory, yesterday was our last 90+ day for the year. I fervently hope so! I'm looking forward to at least a few weeks of having the windows open all the time before it gets too cool.

Meanwhile, my daughter (in Chicago) messaged me at length about her crazy weather including sleet and sn*w. The videos of high waves and breakers along Lakeshore Drive were impressive. Glad I'm not there. :cattail:

We've had the heat on at night for the last week, but windows will be open on Thanksgiving! I'm thankful that Master seduced me to Arizona. :)

There are times when I really hate the weather here. In the summer, it's hot and humid (which I don't mind too much, so long as my air-conditioner is working, and I love summer nights more than anything in the world). The winter is entirely too cold for my liking and is usually gray and hazy and generally gross.

We don't have much of a spring or a fall because the temperatures jump from "Fucking Freezing" straight to "Hellfire" in pretty much no time at all. (Seriously, we're lucky if we have three weeks of "spring-like" weather.)

And this time of year, the temperature will fluctuate some 40 degrees between days sometimes. The high temperature will be 70 (21C) Tuesday and 30 on Wednesday (-1C) or whatever. It's not exactly an unusual occurrence, either.

But today, I love it because it's 71 degrees outside, and the humidity is not insane. Sure, it'll be cold as God knows what in a few days, but right now? Perfect. :)

@Bunny, let me know when "God knows what" can be described with a -F. ;)

We're due for some warmer weather next week, but today was a seasonable 35F so I walked to the takeout Chinese place to get some lunch. It was more for the exercise than the food, but I knew that before starting out. Good crisp day for a walk.

I sincerely hope the answer is "never," but it's not entirely unheard of. To my knowledge, though, it hasn't happened in my lifetime.

(Yes, I really do just like to bitch about the cold. And to me, "the cold" is anything below about 60 degrees. Winters here are supposedly classified as "mild," but if this is mild, then I never want to find out what's severe, thank you very much.)

I feel like I should be praying for you and holding candlelight vigils or something.

;)

Also? Now you've got me thinking how good Chinese food would be right now.

Please, no vigils. They make me nervous, thinking maybe the Grim Reaper will be attracted by the candles.

It's snowed in southern California. While I appreciate being able to show my toddler snow without having to go to the mountains, I don't appreciate the bone-biting cold and damp that goes with having it.
