The Outlook

*I stroll along the beach, waves lapping at my bare feet, as if the Mother ocean is trying to tickle my toes. It makes me smile. Looking out to sea wistfully, it's easy to feel as if I am the only person in the world in this moment. I wonder if there is anyone else looking out at that horizon like I am. I wonder if anyone is about on a night like this.*

*padding to a rock at the edge of the cliffs, the cool wind of the night air ruffling his fur he lays down with a heavy exhausted sigh, his muzzle laid across crossed paws he looks out silently over the waves before, and the stars above, heavy of heart and tired of mind a low eerie howl lets go from deep in his chest that lifts his muzzle to the heavys*

* Not far away, I hear a mournful howl, putting voice to how I've felt so often of late. Today was better. It's amazing the simple things that can lift our spirits. The sound of the wolf makes me wonder who might be about. Memories of other wolfen friends come to my mind, and guide my steps to the cliffs nearby. I've never known anything but friendship from those who shift, the Cheysuli, they were called in my land. By any name I know them, they are friends to me.

Just ahead, I spot the reclining form, fur ruffling in the ocean breeze. I know to approach cautiously. The wolf will accept me or not in its own way. I sit down near the large furry head, letting the breeze carry my scent to the wolf.*

*laying once more on the stone his ears twitch and he looks to the beauty who approaches, he's seen her about, but always with others as he laid in shadow, her approach was cautious and he inwardly grinned at that, reminded of how luna approached him he cocks his head to one side as she sat beside him, shifting slightly he laid his head apon her thigh and nuzzled into her gently just thankful for the friendship she offered his body rised and lowered with his breathing as he relaxed and let his eyes close nuzzling the elfs thigh tenderly*

*The acceptance of a creature of the wild, so free in spirit, is a gift. I let gentle fingers stroke through the fur between his large ears. The simple comfort of the presence of another in this peaceful place arises between us. It is a lonely place, but not so lonely when shared with another. I lean down and rub my cheek on the thick luxurious fur. What woman doesn't like fur? I happen to like it better on its original owners though.

Sitting back up, my eyes once again turn to the horizon, the moon beginning to rise now. The warmth of that furry head on my thigh reminds me that I'm not alone. This is a sight to be shared.*

the gentle subtle caress of fingers through my fur had always had a calming effect, this was no different, the tender caress soothed him and he relaxed, curling his body slightly around this women beside him, his eyes remained cast out, overlooking the water, the waves, the hum of the wind

Feeling as she shifted his muzzle and head raised and his ears perked before she nuzzled into him, he closed his eyes and nuzzled back his tongue licking gently against her cheek in silent thank you for her comfort as she snuggled back where she had been

*In this form, they have their ways of knowing one another. My senses are not that keen. But of those I know here in this realm, there is only one Alpha male. I speak softly, knowing his keen hearing will detect my voice, even over the wind.*

Logan.

*The one word, the name that identifies his two legged form. It's all that is needed to be spoken here. That one word sums up for we furless ones all that a person is, just as a scent from their sensitive noses identifies all they are to each other. Maybe that is a simplification. But the one word, spoken softly, is acknowledgment of who he is, of his presence here with me, and of the welcome I offer him.*

Logan

short, simple, whispered on the winds wings his tail wags gently at her voice, closing his eyes he inhales and lets go a growling sigh, his form begins to blur into a dark haze, fur, muzzle, paws, all just seemingly melting away hands, legs, feet, the haze eases and vanishes in the night air, leaving a male sitting beside her, at height he stands 5ft 9, a bald head capped with a black biker bandana, mustache forming over thin lips connecting to a thick black/brown goatee covered chin, the rest of his form bared with a black tanktop and jeans, tucked into black steel-toed shit-kickers a tattoo of a wolf howling at the moon on his right arm his brown eyes turn to Thyri a smiled curving his features

"evening hun" his voice a deep rich baritone that belies his size and air of feral intelligence, "thank you,"

*His form blurs and shifts beside me, the warmth of his large furred head leaving my thigh. It is always an amazing thing to see, and I never get used to it. When it is over, he sits beside me. The evening is cut with the rumble of his masculine voice, itself enough to captivate my attention, but the accent is the thing that sets me at ease. It's familiar, comforting.*

My own drawl, though pitched higher and lighter on the wind, carries with it the same smile of friendliness to his ears that I offer to his eyes,
"It's good to see you again. How are you doin' tonight? You havin' a good weekend so far?"

"It's good to see you again. How are you doin' tonight? You havin' a good weekend so far?"

he sighs wearily and shakes his head, turning to stare once more into the blackness of the night His voice once more threading into the night he cups Thyris cheeks as he finishes speaking and kisses her forehead lightly

Sometimes words are not necessary, certainly not to enjoy the comfort of a friend. I wouldn't be able to reciprocate anyhow. *Slipping an arm around his waist, giving a little squeeze of comfort.* I hope things turn around for you soon, in any case. I'd invite you to the gun range with me tomorrow, if it were possible. Shooting off a couple hundred rounds always makes me feel pretty relaxed.

((works now n.n please listen))

*smiling he laughs softly and shakes his head*

i have my own guns darlin, and fire them quiet often enough, just not able to do it this week

*feeling her arm around him he relaxs considerably and hugs her to his chest, letting his eyes clothes and tries to put his stress out of his head for now and just relax and enjoy the company of this lady*

* Hugging him closer, sympathetic to his mood.*

You have a wonderful voice. And my intuition was pretty close about your accent. Well, with some luck, maybe things will get better for you soon. My own situation has changed from good to bad, and bad to worse, then better, and then bad again, and finally pretty good now, just since last night. If there can be any comfort in any situation we go through, it is in that no matter what, things keep changing. The circumstances work out one way or another.

People sum it up when they say, 'This too shall pass.' But I'm fond of saying that the best thing about some days is that they come to an end. All we really have to do is survive it, darlin' and then we get another day to make what we can of it. Things will be different. Maybe better, maybe not, but different, that's for sure.

your wise for an elf *a wry grin as he stretchs and cracks his back then lays back on the cold stone to stare at the moon my eyes close i take another deep breath*

its a beautiful night at least, im glad the rain avoided us tonight, i love calm nights it helps me organize my thoughts and feelings, its why i loved working over nights most times im not any more but i do miss it

*Grinning at his good-natured assessment.* Most of my kind usually follow that comment with 'for your age'.

* I watch as he stretches the kinks out, wondering if it is a side effect of his shifting that allows such a relieving maneuver. So often do I wish I could just stretch enough to realign everything that causes me pain and discomfort. When he lies back again beside me, I join him, curling into the crook of his shoulder, looking up at the silvery moon and the diamond stars against the black velvet blanket of the night sky. What riches we can enjoy, even without a coin in our pockets.*

It is certainly cooler at night. For where I live, that would be reason enough to enjoy the dark hours. But I confess to loving my sleep too much, and for some reason, I just can't sleep as soundly once the sun comes up. My body get's hot, like a.....*blushing at the analogy I was about to blurt out, then continuing with a laugh*...well, like a puppy's belly when they have to go pee. I just can't sleep very well when I get too hot.

he smiles as she lays with me, i cup my arm around her curling her into my body in a friendly manner, my eyes glance to hear as he listens to her soft voice and smirks as she hesitates at her wording

"as shifters our bodys naturally run hotter then most people, because of the increased metabolism, but im the same way, i usually sleep with a bundle of blankets and a fan hitting me to circulate the air around me, has been that way since i was a pup, its why it could be the middle of winter and im usually wearing tshirts or tanktops with light coats, even in this form cold doesnt bother me and actually feels good "

his hand idly stroked over Thyri's arm

"around the fullmoon our skin literally feels as if its on fire, our beasts are so much closer to then the surface of our body then normal that i have to take ice cold showers throughout the day just because im so hot and cant shift and run

*My eyes widen as he speaks, marveling that we have another thing in common.*

I sleep the same way! I have a fan on my headboard that is aimed right down at my head and face, and I pull the covers up around my neck. Normally that keeps me just right, but when the sun comes up, my body tends to get hotter under the covers.

I don't have much trouble when the moon ripens into Her fullness, but my scalp itches more, and I am restless on those nights, my mind never truly shutting down in sleep to rest. Thoughts race through my mind all night long, close to the surface, so that I never reach that beta level of sleep. Maybe somewhere way back in my line, a distant ancestor had some shifter blood in them. Or maybe it's just that I sense the celestial energies are stronger at those times.

*The touch of his idly tracing finger on my skins brings a small shiver, not from the cold, but from the tickle. My own hand slides across his chest, fingers drawing lazy circles on the broad expanse of muscle.*

i dont usually have trouble sleeping unless ive had a hard day at work or like tonight, much on my mind that weighs heavy and worrysome as personal family issues return and current medical conditions decide to flare up

*sighs heavy and smiles at her gentle touch*

i thank you darlin, for your company, i think i shall try and retire for the night, turn on a movie and see if the world of the unconscious can take me away till mornings light and the desire to hunt awakens me

*rolling slightly he kisses her forehead again tenderly and cups her hand to his chest briefly before rising to stand, exhaling slowly againt the dark haze encircles his body, clothing and flesh melting into fur and teeth as he shifts back and shakes out his fur, turning he tickles his tail over thyri's face teasingly before padding into the darkness of the moonless shadows*

*Nodding as he stands and shifts again, I reach out a hand to run fingers through his fur one last time as he bounds away into the night.*

Until next time, Logan. I hope things get better for you soon.

From deep woods to a vast valley. Through the valley toward the shore. My feet lead me toward the source of my journey, the sea. The Outlook. It had been so long since I went up the rickety steps to the deck that I thought, maybe, after my swim...I would go up and get some OJ, maybe bug a serving wench or two.

First though, a swim. The moon glimmers down upon the sand, the water and a cool breeze raises goose flesh upon my bare skin. Doesn't matter. No one is here and that is the best. No one to whisper or bug or hint or annoy. Just myself and the Lady of the Moon, myself and the Goddess of the Sea. Just myself and my thoughts.

Nude, I run toward the incoming wave, feet splashing as they hit the water. The shock of the cold tales my breath but I dive then and allow the wetness to carry me away. Bliss.

*A mischievous elfin lass prowls the beach, looking for clothes to sneak way with, and pranks to play on hapless wolves.* :D

*slipping into the outlook, roses and a bottle of wine for Luna, he smiled sadly, he missed her, missed hearing her voice, her laugh, missed her badly over these past few weeks,

he felt them as if they drifted apart, his posts to her ignored, he left the roses on her bed, then vanishes on the wings of the whispered wind*

Noon slips into the Outlook, finding it the same as the last time he'd been there, grinning amusedly as he sits down and orders a Bay Breeze. He sits down next to the railing, glancing out at the waves, propping his legs up in and adjacent chair. He feels a cool breeze coming out from sea, making it comfortable enough to leave his shirt on for the moment, even though the sun is shining down hotly. He enjoys his beverage and relaxes to himself for the moment.

Phases into the Outlook, feeling slightly self-conscious about choosing to phase in at a very conspicuous place at the railing
So where's the bar around here?
Gazes out to the sea, trying to steady my nerves as the last gust of wind blows right through my chest before I come completely into phase

Noticing someone else appearing, somewhat surprisingly, Noon straightens up in his seat a little bit. He glances down at his drink for a second before looking back to respond to her question.

"Back that way, opposite the railing." He points toward the bar opposite the direct he's facing, and then offers a quick smile.

Then taking mind of his manners, he sets his beverage down and then rises out of his seat, offering,
"Would you like me to get you something?"
