Truth be told, I found out from a mutual friend, that Scouries is dying.

I don't know what he has or how much longer he has to live, but he's dying sooner than later.

The medication that he's taking has made him the mad man that he is. He doesn't mean some of the things that he writes.

As he won't be with us that much longer, I suggest that either people be nicer to him, take him with a bucket of salt, or ignore him.

It was hard not to laugh when Gabby told me your latest gaffe ace.

Sorta a case of the old “hoist by your own petard” don’t you think?

Surely you checked the number of VIEWS and VOTES this story you were about to boast about got didn’t you? Apparently not!

So you wrote a ROMANCE category story. Then you got someone in the palace (an anonymous someone) to give it a Green “E” before it was released. Then it was put at the top of the new story list.

So you had everything going for you. I’ll bet you were sitting back with a big smile on your face when it came out. “Ohhh momma,” you probably told the little lady over the breakfast table, “am I going to get a lot of reads and votes with this one! And high votes – you should see how these ROMANCE types vote.”

The most worrisome thing for me is that you seem happy with the pitiful numbers the story that had all the advantages going for it received. When Gabby told me that the #1 story on the NEW STORY page, a ROMANCE, had only received 3900 views I thought she was kidding. “You mean 39,000,” I asked, thinking the sweet young thing had missed a zero. But she clicked open the story and there it was.

I don’t know how to break this to you but if one of my stories received less than 25,000 views on its first day I’d be devastated. And if it had started life as the #1 story on the NEW STORY page I wouldn’t be happy with anything under 50,000. And 50 votes? Anything under 350 in the first week is unacceptable!

Your joy at 3,900 views makes me wonder what you normally get? 500 … 1000 … 1500?

The bottom line ace is that your story is a total failure – our readers have spoken. And quite frankly never so clearly. ​

That of course is the beauty of the new system. For years the old ladies of AHland (which also includes ace, little ralphie, db and the dumb Texan) fought against full disclosure of the numbers. They wanted to keep them secret.

But the QUEEN and PRINCE MANU finally listened to their customers (the reading public) and to the few lone, sane voices in the wilderness (as in yours truly) and decided to lift the curtain and let us see exactly what was happening.

No longer can the elitist, prep school aces of our little world boast about their Green “E”s without worry of a reply.

All anyone has to do is click open the top romance stories in the last thirty days (in this case) and see the reality. Few votes, few views, middling rating!

Our readers aren’t stupid! They might be tricked once or twice by a glittering Green “E”s but they quickly learn. And this latest example proves it.

They knew not to open aces story even though it was #1 on the NEW STORY list and had a Green “E”s. And that’s because they’ve already sampled one of aces stories and have no interest in revisiting him no matter where his story comes up.

They simply don’t like his stories! And who can blame them?
