Things that piss you off?

I wasn't planning on logging on tonight, but I did. Good thing too as otherwise I wouldn't know that my grandmother had been in a car accident last night. They had to cut her out of the car (she was the broadsided victim, the driver took out another car after hitting my grandma) and she has fractured ribs.

Okay mom...don't you think it would have been a good idea to call me at work, especially when you know that I don't get on the internet every day??????

Oh, shit. I don't blame you for being pissed. Hope your grandmother recovers quickly.

Thanks Eilan. My poor grandma, this has not been her year. This will be her 4th stay in the hospital so far this year. My mom is forgiven as she's understandably rattled.

Gram's car was totalled. She was broadsided in the driver's side, so we are extremely thankful that she wasn't hurt any worse than the broken ribs and collarbone. Mom wants me to hold off driving over until we know when she'll be released from the hospital.

I'll be there in a heartbeat. I just hope it goes better than when I took care of her when I was sixteen and she had broken her leg. I couldn't do anything right for her and was glad to go home.

She's the type of person who bends over backward to help others; I hope that others are there for her now that she needs them.

I think those helping genes run in the family Den. I'm sorry she was so hurt and hope for a complete and quick recovery. :rose:

I'll second that. :rose: :rose: for your Grandma, Denae.

Anna Coulter

Man what a BITCH she is. I watched an interview yesterday of her with Matt Lauer. She is a hateful, nasty human. She sure doesn't help peoples outlook on republicans.

What comes around goes around.

What pisses me off? Ok so i`ve got that annoying condition called Aspegers sydrome, and what pisses me off is it being called ''a learning disability''
I`m sorry but i fucking disagree, its an insulting term to those of us who suffer AS. To me, it`s NOT a learning disability but more of a social ineptness. I can`t help but feel pissed off and insulted when my intelligence is assumed to be less than normal.

Mary

I can't imagine how much that gets under your skin. Well, we love ya here and accept you for who you are. no titles here. Unless of course you would prefer one

One of my collegue's sons has that, and he is a pretty cool kid. Don't let having something like this get to you. You are who you are and if people cannot accept that, then don't deal with them, and instead spend your time with people who like you for who you are :)

Indeed, I never even heard of it before till I met ya and there's nothing at all wrong with you or anyone else who has it, just fucktards presuming shit.

so here's what happened with verizon... i post this in response to the scores of pm inquiries i've gotten.

tuesday night i took a phone call at 7pm and the static in the line was so bad that it made things inaudible. at 11pm the problem persisted so i called the repair line at 11:30.

i was on hold for over 30 minutes and was then told that someone would be out on friday to fix it. i've had this problem each of the last three springs. the first time they replaced some hardware outside explaining that ants eat the insulation off the wires and water causes the static. last year the woman who took the call for verizon was so obnoxious that i let it go and the problem corrected itself in about 12 hours.

wednesday afternoon i got a call. it was a recording from verizon that said, "our tests show that your problem has been resolved." i could barely hear the message through the static. i called back to confirm that the appointment was still set and they transferred me to a number that didn't exist. i called back and a recording said my call couldn't be completed (i pressed 0 ).

finally, i got a person and they confirmed that the appointment was still set for friday. i said that my 94 year old grandmother had just gotten out of the hospital and was staying with me (this is a lie... i've actually sent her home already) and that i couldn't risk not having a functional phone. they said they'd send someone out on thursday between 8am and noon.

by 1pm thursday, no one was here so i called and was told they'd been busy and would be here by 5. 5:20 came and i called again. i was told they'd be here by 7pm. 7:40 came and i called again. they said they'd be here between 8am and noon on friday.

at this point i told the guy my confidence was NOT high and asked what i should do if no one came. he said if they weren't here by 11am to call. to this i responded, "ok... i'm getting quite good at that."

11am today i bypassed the repair morons and went straight to customer service. they at least empathized (an improvement over the "yes" treatment i'd been getting) and said someone would be here today.

in the mean time the problem has more or less cleared up. they're supposed to come and replace all the outdoor wiring anyway... at 12:45, still no sign of a verizon truck. we'll see i suppose.

maybe i should hold my breath.

it's all so absurd. it seems like the business plan for their service office is "agree, delay and annoy until the client disappears." i'd love nothing more than to shove the jackasses answering their phones into my phone jack.

do rednecks have, like, a "noise-making" gene?

it's quarter to eleven, motherfucker.

I totally agree. Furthermore, for all that the right wingers go on about how pretty she is, so much more so than anything the left has to offer (but what about Maureen Dowd?) I don't think she's that damn pretty. The picture you see with her syndicated column flatters her outrageously. Whenever I see her on video I always wonder if she's always been a girl. Her Adam's apple is suspiciously large. (Disclaimer: this is not intended to give any offense to any transgendered person we might have here, or transgendered people at all. But would it be that much of a surprise if she were, when her official position probably gives short shrift to them as a group?)

Yo, Mary! It's always nice to run into more Asperger people, especially in a site like this. One more bit of proof that yes, we can function, especially if we can produce something that the neurotypical can be entertained by. (One of my stories, "Quid Pro Quo," kind of touches on autism spectrum disorders.) We've got it in my family--my son was diagnosed at 7, I a few months ago. And I've always had my suspicions about my dad, God rest him, and when he was in the Marines during WWII they tried to get him into OTS (but all he wanted was to get through his hitch and go to college). I have seldom heard anyone accuse Asperger people of being unintelligent, except perhaps emotionally sometimes. Oh, and did you know Dan Ackroyd has it too? He came out on NPR last year.

I suppose I might have PM'd you about this but all things considered, I don't think it does the Asperger/ASD community any good not to be open about things.
