Back when we had dogs, our spaniel had a clever trick:

- wait until my partner and I are snuggled together in bed
- lie on top of us
- get gradually heavier, pushing us apart so we have a dog lying between us
- rotate 90°
- stretch out to push us further apart until one mid-sized dog is taking up the whole of the double bed with the humans balancing at the edges.

Now our cat has started doing the same trick.
