TSCLT 12.0: The pantheon hates a pussy 2.0

I found the temps I needed and filled out the forms for their background checks, now we wait and see what that turns up. In other news the kittehs got their clean bills of health and will be going to their permanent homes this weekend. And my garden has chainlink on all sides, across the top, and two feet down and one out underground. It wouldn't stop a moose but it does keep out the raccoons, rabbits, and deer which would strip it bare in a single night. BTW, all that was done with the scrap pieces from when we replaced the fences and tore down the buildings a few years ago.

Happy Friday!!! Slept okay. It's cooler this morning. The porch cat is hiding in the back room, but she is eating and drinking and peeing, so all is normal there.

Looks like we get the drywall finished and cleaned up behind today. The painters will start today, too. They want to spray tomorrow. So I reckon I'll be there.

Coffee, an' sich.

There is a kitten in the sample base cabinet.

I remember a conversation with a union sheetrocker during construction of a hospital in NW Alaska that took place about 30 years ago. When asked what his boy was planning to do out of HS, the guy said that if he tried to follow him into sheetrock work, he'd have to knock the crap out of him.

Junior and I had a similar conversation when he was in his early teens. We then mapped out a general plan which included landing a degree which would lead to a professional designation. He did. Made partner in the shortest possible time. The company sold a business that it owned and he will get a cut. Maybe $300K.

The only issue there is how to set up the sale to minimize taxes. The American way is to not overpay taxes.

What are you going to do with the kitten in the sample cupboard Wat?
My own kittens leave tomorrow, and the little human has agreed to escort each to their new homes, I would have preferred otherwise but she insists she wants to be grown up about it. I have a minion on speed dial should it be necessary to swap things up.
And today we finished the garden and prepped it for winter, I have a counter full of green tomatoes that will either ripen or be added to the compost pile.
And Thor, I agree with your sheetrock guy, I've seen too many get too old too fast in that industry.

I brought her home with me after having tooken her to work with me. That's my long-haired road trip little girl who ain't little.

Happy Saturday. This may be one of those weeks where I needed a/c early in the week and I'll require a bit of heat to take the chill off the house today/tonight. Slept okay. Was up late last night visiting with a buddy of mine I haven't seen in several weeks. She's okay. Lovely visit.

Work here in a bit, so coffee first.

I thought you were talking about another one of your foundlings Wat,
we will be headed out shortly to deliver ours and then I can toss the litter box back into the garage.

I have a sick Hussy, I promised to care for her until the end when I took her in and that's all I can manage right now.
Cancer is a terrible disease.

Well, that sucks monkey nuts. But I, too, make the same promise. Ultimately, I prefer the four-legged ones to the two-legged ones.

Ginsberg

By: Julia Vinograd

No blame. Anyone who wrote Howl and Kaddish
earned the right to make any possible mistake
for the rest of his life.

I just wish I hadn't made this mistake with him.
It was during the Vietnam war
and he was giving a great protest reading
in Washington Square Park
and nobody wanted to leave.

So Ginsberg got the idea, "I'm going to shout
'the war is over' as loud as I can,'" he said
"and all of you run over the city
in different directions
yelling the war is over, shout it in offices,
shops, everywhere and when enough people
believe the war is over
why, not even the politicians
will be able to keep it going."

I thought it was a great idea at the time
a truly poetic idea.

So when Ginsberg yelled I ran down the street
and leaned in the doorway
of the sort of respectable down on its luck cafeteria
where librarians and minor clerks have lunch
and I yelled "the war is over."
And a little old lady looked up
from her cottage cheese and fruit salad.
She was so ordinary she would have been invisible
except for the terrible light
filling her face as she whispered
"My son. My son is coming home."

I got myself out of there and was sick in some bushes.
That was the first time I believed there was a war.

Happy Sunday!!! Slept okay. Stayed up a bit too late watching videos. Gonna go help a friend here in a bit. He has a bit of ladder work to do and wants someone to spot him. Yesterday, he turned 70. Obviously, he has accumulated a bit of wisdom along the way.

Coffee first . . . .

We cannot change anything until we accept it. Condemnation does not liberate, it oppresses.

I have the coffee, the rain is on the way so I'm glad we finished what we needed to outside yesterday.
The hussy has some new meds that make her sleepy but manage the pain better and as a bonus she thinks they're treats and takes them easily. I like my four leggers better too Wat, they may no be able to fix my problems but I can say in all honesty they've always stayed with me through them.
Time to put some music on and get some cleaning done.

Breezy and rainy this morning. No new bears on the security cams. Not a nice day outside. Yet, the coffee is good and it's nice and quiet this morning.

Got my friend helped. He was quite appreciative. He's a good guy, good enough to have two more feet. He has three cats. Heh.

Got the shooping done, too.

Ladder work can be dangerous.

Some years ago, we were having our boiler upgraded to a high efficiency unit and the plumbing crew went up on the roof on a windy day. I had told them it was going to blow and to do the roof work the previous day, but what do I know. The wind blew their ladder down, and they'd left their cell phones in the truck. It was so loud with the wind, my wife never heard anything out of the ordinary. After about an hour of them huddling in the rain with the 40 - 50 mph gusts blasting them, the neighbor noticed them on the roof and got the ladder up to them. Needless to say, there was no finishing up the boiler flue that day.

Yeah, some people's kids. I have done a lot of ladder work once upon a time, and I consider myself thankful to be whole and ambulatory after all of that. It was not without planning. I'm very precise about placement, and I do like those stabilizers when possible. They also make painting an entire window in one setting possible.

The anvil inline 8, the big one, was a way better engine that the twelve banger Lincoln. More ass, more stable, more horses, and faster cars. Did I mention that I'm going to pick up yet another of the one-year-only engines? I'd like to bore one 60 thousandths and port it and then see what it'll do. Twelve volt conversion for the car, a converted starter, an electronic ignition and one of those learns-to-think EFI units. Low restriction breathing. Maybe a blower. Maybe. Should be fun.

Happy Monday!!! Slept decently. Was aware of being a cat rest at one point, but I think that's typical. The usual workday morning routine has a dent in it. The new cat seems to be settling in a bit. Still mostly hiding, but she may be ready to come out later this week. There are two boxes in this room and each has a cat in it. I should build this tree that I got them.

We have showers outside that should blow out later this morning. Like my coffee . . . .

Wat has quite the herd of workers today. The latinos are finishing the demo. The HVAC guys are sorting out what we're doing with the systems. The wood butchers are starting to hang doors and run baseboard and casing. Things are running better here already!!!
