TSCLT 7.0: Hemis, Harleys, Hooters-n-Harridans

Morning.

Usual Friday here. Breakfast with the Feds. Order some parts for a Mercury outboard. A little later drive down to my local Class III dealer to see what's new and cool.

Happy Friday!!!

Gettin' shit accomplished this week, which is good. We'll have the first building done, all but. We blow insulation in its attic next week. Found a good place to stay. The weather has been great.

Because a win was just a bit overdue.

Hell, it's Friday and the coffee is damned good.

Good poker players have a job. That is to take money from poor poker players.

Wise poker players don't take every thin dime from every poor poker player.

:D

According to one story, that's what got Duck Bill Hickok killed.

Of course, whiskey was doing a good job of it all by itself.

Sent Mom some money first thing. She always likes it when I send her some coinage.

Gonna be a long day, what with a long drive home. But it'll all work out - count on it.

The moon is a harsh mistress?

It's got nothing on Mom.

Verily, this I tell you and experience holds it to be truthy, now and evermore.

Way back when there was a group of us that got together every Thur. to play poker. Some of the attitudes were interesting.

One fellow always showed up with $20 only in his pocket. Said that that way he could only loose so much. Oddly enough he always lost it.

One fellow that never showed up was an engineer from TX. that said, "A man only gets so many good poker hands in his lifetime and he'd be damned if he was going to waste it playing penny ante poker."

I napped until Midnite. How am I going to get back to sleep with this deliciousness wafting from the kitchen?

Normally I like to brown a roast a little bit before I Crockett (in the Tubbs?) but in this case it was just too big to deal with in any way that was practical in the middle of the night so I just put it in raw covered it with some seasonings including a bunch of crushed chiltepin peppers and now that it's cooked for an hour or so I put on some cilantro a nice big onion threw in a bunch of carrots that I'm going to fish out in a while and eat and tossed in a sweet potato for good measure.

I don't know where I got the idea that the skin of a sweet potato was inedible and or poisonous but I've never eaten them. I had a roommate though who was out a very regimented diet for bodybuilding so brown rice and sweet potatoes was about all the fiber he was going to get. He would spoil the heck out of some sweet potatoes and then mash them up skin and all and eat them with some olive oil salt and butter. I've always just scooped the meat out of the inside.

Slow cooking it this one with pork I thought I'd try it skin on and see if I like it.

I played in a golf tournament last weekend and the social media nonsense thank yous and photos were just put on the interwebs. Ole Johnny is looking a bit chunky. Could be that I'm bulking up for football season. Could be that PBR isn't as healthy as I thought.

I've been sitting here thinking about that keto fad. Google tells me it means no taters or pasta. I'd rather blow up like I had an air hose up my ass than live without pasta.

Or tortillas.

I have always assumed that in the Savage(ini) Manse, the pasta is fresh made on the countertop with an eg, some flour and salt. If you're not opposed to the dried boxed kind there is available some reasonably acceptable high protein pasta. Made with ground lentils and chickpeas or some such. Barilla Pasta Plus. Used to be able to get it in rotini but lately I can only find it as bow tie or spaghetti.

I do a modified Keto. I eat whatever I feel like, but eat protein like it's medicine which tends to crowd out some of the grazing. I try to eat at least a hundred grams of protein a day. I'm aiming for a hundred and fifty but I don't think I usually hit that.
